  1. Thats funny. I do have a ata kit but decided for a rs bucket because i think the ata bucket is a little bit so smooth and just not as sharp and accurate than the RS props. Id choose the rs bucket over every other helmet. At least for now. Maybe the anovos armor and helmet will blow us all away.
  2. LOL Yeah you're right.. True that...
  3. Dude. If you're used to ANH because of owning one and most build threads are about ANH troopers/buckets, the rotj looks so darn strange! Don't get me wrong. Your build is great. Seeing a ROTJ just kinda feels funky to me. But,.. Good job so far!
  4. PVC is (in most cases) more glossy and more "white". I don't really like the PVC thing, especially because the suits in the movie were ABS. So I prefer ABS. But i am still a newbie. I also don't think they gonna produce Something that is not 501st acceptable. That would be a stupid move. I really think about preordering a set... Hmmmm...
  5. This is going to be very interesting. Anovos is actually very very affordable. So... Ata (AFFORDABLE trooper armor) will get a hard competitor. I am very happy with my ata but as nice as it is... There are still a lot of things i really dislike. It's gonna be interesting if anovos will have a better chestpiece, shoulder bells, ab plate Detail. But i guess Anovos will have better/more accurate details. We will see!
  6. Nice! I doubt anyone will start picking your armor apart as long as you know the important parts and things you need to take care of. Are you aiming for centurion?
  7. Thats true, there is a a and b side. I remember now but i didn't really care. I decided having the more scratched side as the side i put the glue on. I sanded it a bit to give it a better texture for the glue to stick but i doubt that this is necessary. I would suggest to cut freehand. Just don't try to be over-clean in terms of cutting. I mean... You can do that but this is not the way they did it in the movie. If you check some screen shots you will see how rough the armors are assembled. I am almost done with my ata and start roughing it up a little bit to make it look like a Trooper from the movie and not a idealized armor. But that depends on yourself... Long story short: just cut. Measure twice, cut once. True to that. But don't worry about 100% straight lines. But as always: my opinion!
  8. You are prepared just perfectly. Wow. I was not nearly as prepared as you are. Not at all...! You will run into some issues for sure but you already minimized that possibility to The lösest. One tip i can give you: Get a iron. Sealing iron or whatever you guys in the us call that. If you wanna go super accurate you need to modify your thigh and the belly with the iron.
  9. Yeah more ROTJ for Germany! Erstmal hallo und viel Spaß beim basteln! Is that your first armor? Back to your question: actually i can't tell what part is which by seeing the picture but if you look at it you should be able to tell by yourself. Hold them together and see if it fits. Imo it's really hard to do that wrong. The thighs are super easy to identify. To shin is a little harder but just check your own. I mean... Your real one. I saw a video where it's explained pretty well but cant find it right now.
  10. Looks great!!! Congrats! mtk seems to be a really decent set of armor. And you did a good job on it, too.
  11. Nice. I think this is gonna be my next build as soon as i am done with my TD. And this build is just excellent! But what else to expect from a real pro....?.. :) ;) Paul, BTW: Send u a text on the MEPD. Don't wanna push you, just a hint!
  12. Looks really nice. I can imagine its much more comfortable than a TK. Is it?
  13. Flametroopee is so killer.. Changed my mind like 25 times since the design was officially shown at the celebration. I am so excited about all this...
  14. I understand many people are concerned with the whole anovos thing. But i thought about that and after seeing this picture 0----------- i think there is a good thing too. If there is only 1 supplier, all the troopers will be (or at least when assembled correct) very accurate and they look all the same!!! So check out whats the negative thing about a whole bunch of suppliers is: http://image.guardian.co.uk/sys-images/Film/Pix/pictures/2007/07/17/Jim_starwars460.jpg Same troopers, everyone looks different. Dont get me wrong, its always the "builders pride" and the opportunity to chose the builder you want to buy from. But i just noticed the pros..
  15. Empire isn't called Empire anymore. I think it's called "first order", at least that is what it says on the suites that are displayed at celebration. That explains why the logo has changed. Yeah dude! I wanna know who is on the stage sooooo bad! Maybe it's Gollum? Who else could it be?
  16. There is so much going on.... Wow.... I kinda like the design but what i think looks really bad is the chest plate. Don't know why anyone would approve this design. Also, imagine a trooper with a bigger Belly in that costume. Because of the low profile chest it's gonna be hard to make it look good i guess... Still, The Helmet is nice. The overall design is alright. Still does not feel like Star Wars but that could change as soon as we see and love the movie.. For Now it's just a space army costume that could appear in every scifi movie. Lack of connection to Star Wars yet...
  17. Thats what i wonder too. Didnt really get that...
  18. For me it's only elastics glued inside. No brackets/snaps (beside the shoulders)/velcro for me..
  19. Alright! Good luck and have fun! Don't forget to make a build thread
  20. Check out ata as well. Very affordable, i got mine a while ago and i am still building it. I am really bad in building stuff but even i got it to the point where i am satisfied! Build it by yourself!!!! I am 179cm/180cm and it fits pretty good so far. My buddy is a little shorter and i think if we build it for him it would look even better with his bodysize than it does on me. He is pretty much your height so i can totally recommend ata. There is a long wait but i think it's the most "bang for the buck"...! Keep on reading and check out all the build threads
  21. @ukswrath: sounds simple, could you post some pictures of your installed mics? Would be great! The kit doesn't come with mics, does it??? Thanks guys!
  22. I would love to know too! I am thinking about getting one soon!
  23. I'll follow! Never really checked out a rotj build. Exciting!
  24. I totally agree with you but even if he just gets an RS armor and doesnt have a clue about what this set really is i think he cant enjoy it as much as it deserves to be enjoyed. And maybe a easier/cheaper kit would be the better choice for him. He wouldnt know. What i try to explain is that the armor itself is just half as amazing if you have someone pointing a finger saying: "get this. It's great"... Even if that was the truth. You know what i mean?
  25. Don't get me wrong but there Is no "one click and you got it"-thing. Not for information, not for putting a complete set into your cart and check out. It's research. And everything Is out there. 99,9% of the information you need is out there. You just gotta find it. I and everyone else had to go through this. It's hard but that's what this stuff Is about. So just to give you at least a little help (i am still brand new to this hobby but i spent hours of research by myself).. Actually there Is no rule that says what armor maker is approvable or not. It is about the look. To get a look that can be approved for 501st there Is a lot of work. So if you get a "bad kit", there Is probably more work to do (as far as it's possible to make it Look like a real stormtrooper) and if you have a really nice kit there Is maybe (!) less work to do because it already looks pretty cool. Then it Is about your bodysize (bigger troopers often need a lil more work here and there as well as Very short or super tall guys). Then it Is about assembling the kit. You can have the best kit in the world, if you screw it up and wear your handplate on your elbows there is no way to be approved. But i have seen guys that have a actually "pretty bad kit" and upgrade it so good that it looks nice..! So you see, it Is not just about the kit. It Is about you and the time and work you put in! Another thing that i did: check out The "SWAT" section. As you should know these are the highest quality sets and most perfect replicas of a original stormtrooper you can find. So if you flip though you will see a lot of TM (troopermaster) and RS props. Why? Because very experienced people chose these. Why do they? Because these are the most accurate kits to work with. You can still screw it up, but you got the best base here. You will also find some AM or ATA kits. Why? Because many people like it. Why do they? Because these kits are still top notch, for the most people affordable and you can work with it. You can make it look amazing! So i think now you know Why you do not see a jedi robe kit in the SWAT Sektion. It's easy, isnt it? A general tip: if you find a website that sells kits/helmets and you can order directly there is close to zero chance it's a good one. Besides RS props all the kits are fanmade. You contact people and chat around and order it.... I hope that helps and the last words i say.....: there Is no easy way! read, read, research, read, pictures, read, read, ...... And then you can get your kit! you have to learn by youself!
