One other thing we need before we can turn in our app to the Legion is a logo for the detachment. While people are thinking about names is a great time also to start thinking about what logo you want to represent us. What do you guys think?

I've thought about this quite a bit, and while I love the name Stormfront and voted with it myself, in this particular case it seems prudent to remove it from the list.

I suspect the reason a lot of people use PVC is that it's cheap, already round (e.g. no metal forming necessary), and won't scuff your armor. What metal did you make yours out of? Do you think making them out of PVC and painting them would work OK? This would make a great tutorial

I think we're talking about the same thing: usually owning a TK costume and having a TK designation (even if it's an addition to another designation, e.g. TD) are presumed to be hand in hand, e.g. if you are in the 501st and have a TK costume, normally you will have applied for and have received a TK designation. Or in the reverse: having a TK designation presumes ownership of a TK suit. I didn't mean to imply that TK was your only desgination. And yes, the more signees the better. On my first troop I was that guy who'd never fully worn is suit before, and had at least 5 wardrobe malfunctions suiting up. I'd like others not to go through what I went through.

Is that part of the charter outdated? As for number of members, I'm happy to keep adding people as long as there is room on the form. I've added both you and Justin to the list & doc.

You have cash in fist and can't *wait* to buy your armor. Perhaps you're already in the 501st but with a different costume, but more likely this is going to be your first armor purchase ever. Everything is on EBay with a quick search and it's sooo easy to buy, but before you do consider these questions before buying armor or accessories: 1. Did you locate the garrison in your area and ask for help? Some garrisons can be unresponsive or seem aloof to new members, but others are really good in helping new folks avoid "rookie" mistakes. So get on your local garrison boards and ask the membes what they think before clicking "bid now". 2. Did you check this forum for past topics on this subject? The ad says those rubber gloves are the real deal and screen accurate, but the reality is that in any kind of warm weather sweat will pool in them. Why not check to see what other people are using before buying. 3. Can you buy it cheaper locally? Buying that industrial velcro to complete your suit from the auction site is pretty tempting because you don't have to guess if you're getting the "right" stuff, but in reality it's easily available at any Home Depot. The auction may be a better deal in the end, but it pays to take a short trip to be sure. 4. Is it really "real"? There are a lot of auctions that may say "most accurate", "screen accurate", "made from original molds" or similar, but not all items truly are. This forum was created with the express purpose of having people help you answer these questions. 5. What are the tradeoffs? What the heck is the difference between a resin blaster vs. a PVC, vs. a "hyperfirm" (whatever that is)? Ooh - why not get one of those Master Replicas - since it's LFL licensed shouldn't that be the best? Some items look pretty but break easily, or are very accurate but not very practical to troop with. Chances are the answers to these questions are already on these boards, or can be answered pretty quickly by posting a question.

Do you mean in the bin or on your person? I have a small "first aid" kit that I keep in my bin: 1. Scissors 2. Velcro 3. Snap kit w/strapping material 4. Electrical tape 5. Leatherman 6. Spare neckseal (in case someone forgets theirs) 7. Zip (bundle) ties I find I use the velcro & scissors (or knife) the most for spot fixes, and it's black to boot.
