Whoa! At least women outside the US are allowed to look like women.
-
Since you are in the EU, I'd go TM all the way. TM is with the weak dollar out of reach for many in the US cost-wise

Considering that FX is the lowest level of accuracy that the 501st accepts, and the fact that the helmets are steadily being phased out completely, I'd say FX is your best bet if: 1) You simply can't fit into any other armor, e.g. you're over 6'2" 220lbs 2) You're on an extremely tight budget RT is ABS, pre-trimmed, and much more accurate looking than FX for only a little more money. IMHO, RT is really the "new FX".

I'd pay top dollar for that! Even if it was $1500 just for the suit.
-
Look at the bright side Orrin - you're way ahead of where many of us where when we bought our first suit!

It depends on your definition of screen accurate. If you mean closest to a screen used suit that would be TE2. If you mean most faithful representation of what was seen on screen (ANH/ESB), arguably the closest out there is TM.

Let's just say that for me it's come close to being a divorce worthy issue. She stopped asking, I stopped telling. I really *don't* recommend this though. I try to keep the spending restricted to upgrades (mostly) since the last big argument.

What are Forced Unleashed Stormtroopers
Daetrin replied to Daetrin's topic in Stormtrooper Commander
I think Thomas (LMO) has been pretty constant that what he looks for are two things: 1) Permanence in the SW universe, e.g. something that doesn't just appear in one book or one game and is then never referenced in any way again. 2) It *must* have adequate visual reference to be able to make a costume standard from, e.g. if a characters is only depicted visually from the front, then who can say what the back looks like? Or if the pictures are not well detailed - that kind of thing. Right now FISD only accepts film canon stormtroopers. Yes, there are other kinds but just like MEPD we focus on film seen only. That most likely will change down the line to include *some* non-film troopers, but would require a change in the mission statement and a vote of the membership. So why is the FU section here? Because it's really the most logical place for it as it's just a paint variant, unlike other TX costumes. -
You can always cut more out the bottom to make a larger entry. I've seen people 6' with glasses be able to put an ANH on. It can always vary per pull - I've had an easier time getting some of my TE2's on than an RT, and others the AP is easier, yada yada yada. I also have to squeeze the sides a wee bit to get one of the buckets on, but not the others. Go figure.

Saw this on the C-E boards - what a fantastic technique!! ---------- Hi all here is my little pointer and contribution to the clone and plastic community . Hope this helps to make our armour better and bring a great thick looking suit. To create the return and give the raw edge a more thick look i used a modeling iron. You should be able to get one of these from any good model shop or the net for a few trooper tokens. Now keeping the cloth on the iron to stop it from sticking to the ABS, find a starting point and with a little pressure and back and forth movement heat up the ABS.Put the temperature to high or max it out. It takes a little time to get heat into the ABS at the start but once you get going the heat spreads along alot faster.I kept the iron at about 60 to 80 angle to the edge and maintained the presure. Only the area around the iron gets hot so you have full control of what you are doing ,and hay if i can do it my guess is you guys can. Now just work you way alone the edge of what ever you want to bend, top of thigh ETC.Work from the outside and bend the plastic in. Now as my RT-MOD is not painted ABS i sandend it with wet and dry and then used NOVUS polish to fully blend it in and job was done. here is the final result about one hour. I'm sure that this can be used for all sorts of applications one being when you separate the lower back and butt plate. Hope this helps?

I'd suggest being happy with your body size and just ensuring that your costume looks proportional. A well done costume on someone 5'6" will be more convincing than a poorly done costume on someone 5'11". We have stormtroopers shorter than you and at least up to 6'6" IIRC. The key is to be proportionate - make the costume fit to your body.

What are Forced Unleashed Stormtroopers
Daetrin replied to Daetrin's topic in Stormtrooper Commander
LOL - yeah even with clone troopers this is true. Karen Traviss has to come up with an alternate numbering scheme. Let's be honest - the whole 501st costume designators/numbering system was created by and for the 501st for our convenience. Some EU authors have adopted it into their fiction (such as Karen Traviss with the RC's), but like the Imperial rank badge system or pauldron colors there was no rhyme or reason at the time they were created. It's great that we get to impress our own dreams on to the SW landscape though, but it's best not to lose sight of that. -
I've gotten several queries as to what a DL does. Please read this thread here for my views on this subject: http://www.501stforums.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=292533

If people also include a link to their 501st record, it speeds up the process considerably.

GF and AP Helmet Differences
Daetrin replied to dougefresh's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
I measured it again and still get 30". I measured the other TE2 I have and the measurement is identical. Any other measurements you want done? Seeing the line helps. -
A special pic.. for you all on this Happy New Year
Daetrin replied to a topic in ANH (Stunt and Hero)
That's a totally fantastic shot and great information! Thanks so much Matt, and Happy New Year -
Thanks so much Ed, but I've decided to decline my nomination. Partially due to commitments at my new job and home, but also because I think that it's time to pass the leadership baton to someone new. Being a DL - especially of such a large detachment - while it seems like it's easy is actually quite a bit of work and takes up a good chunk of time to do effectively. I think the detachment would be best served by someone who can commit to the position, which is just something I can't do right now. Thanks to everyone who's requested I run again for your support, and best wishes to the new DL.
