  1. Nothing can prepare anyone for news like that. I really can't imagine. Sending prayers from my family to yours, and we'll be sure to add you to our prayer list at our church. You never can get enough of that.
  2. When I first started contemplating getting armor (ok, I was about 9 when I first contemplated it, but when I finally seriously considered it). There is a great deal of cloak and dagger when attempting to find out any real information that is of any value. 'Read the forums' is the canned response, which for me was fine. I spent 2 weeks delving into the forums and really getting all the information together, but not everyone is going to be that interested. I do appreciate threads like this, though, not so much for the drama that always seem to accompany it, but for the relevant information so I can make educated decisions on my purchases. Thanks for introducing yourself Chris, and giving us a little history on your product.
  3. Under Armor (sport suits0 and Body Glove (Dive Skins) are just different brands of suits. I liked Under Armor before I knew it was an actual brand.. since that is what it is... a suit worn under your armor . I never liked jumpsuit or undersuit. Sounds like something you'd wear for ballet. Or underoos. lol. Anyone remember those? Anyway.. just my .02 worth.
  4. This is from the rom/fx web site: UPDATE 5th June 2008: From today, I am now taking payments for the current run of 50 ROM/FX boards. Please note: The current run of 50 ROM/FX boards will be ready to ship in approximately 8 weeks time, towards the end of July. If you have any questions before sending your payment, please email me: john@romfx.com (Please note: I get a lot of SPAM Email, as we all do nowadays, so please put ROM/FX in the subject line so I can filter your email out from the SPAM more easily, thanks!) Check details here on how to secure your ROM/FX board as soon as possible as demand is very high at the moment.
  5. I love this forum.. every time I have something in mind that I am going to have to deal with as I start assembling things... some asks the question (and someone gives a great response)!
  6. I like the green lenses myself.. replaced my bubble lenses for a pair of green. The bubble have a nice look to them, and for the acurate hero, it seems the way to go. The problem that I've heard with the is visibility when trooping is not so great. Not that its great anyway, but worse with the bubble lenses.
  7. If you've seen the cartoon series that's been out for a while, this just mimics the style. Should be interesting to see what they cover (and if it will continue your incorporate the cartoon storyline).
  8. I actually went back and watched the movies again, and I was thinking the same thing; I never heard a static burst. It was just a click you heard. Sometimes before and after, but never any particular static.
  9. One just went on ebay for about $400 USD. Hard to come by these days, and I've made a few inquires but haven't heard anything as of yet.
  10. When I first came to the forum, I can still remember it was pretty daunting. But, if you are serious about entering the world of the Storm Trooper, the forum is a goldmine of information and materials! I will admit, I had to spend a good week to really get into it, but since then, I am so glad I did. It's a rather fascinating hobby, and a wonderfuly helpful community.
  11. Excellent work! It's always encouraging to see how these projects come out. I'm still a bit leery about building my first kit, but excited to see all the great things people come up with!
  12. Sounds like a very cool concept (pun totally intended). Not sure how you would get that to work without having to use fans anyway. Sounds like quite a project, but who knows!
  13. No doubt about that! lol... very kewl stuff. You should wear your armor to work.
  14. I'm a 'Computer Guy' by trade. Have a Bachelor's in Comp Sci and English, and been the computer industry for about 15 years. After doing a myriad of tech type jobs for small and mid-sized businesses, from database design, to pc and network support, Director of IT to consulting, I finally went on my own last year as a technical consultant. I do hardware, software, networking support, as well as Web site and graphic design. Sort of a one-stop-shop for technology and marketing needs.
  15. Why... look for droids, rebel scum, and blast people.. of course! I'm looking forward to just getting my armor... after that a walk in the neighborhood will be fun.
  16. From the site, they have a specific section on armor, with a lot of pictures of original armor, and what was still around. TE is mentioned in there as well. -----------
  17. Not sure if that is necessarily true in either case. I found a good site that has some very interesting facts. It seems rather accurate, although I can't cooberate any of the information. http://www.starwarshelmets.com/ You can specifically check the helmet section. It also has a good bit of information on fan-made helmets that also appears to be as accurate as possible (no bias in any of it from what I read).
  18. Definitely will give this a go when I get my kit.
  19. That's some serious dedication. Taking trooping literally... I'm not sure I'd put myself through that though!
  20. I think one of them got sick in his helmet when he got off .
  21. Amazon has a whole slew as well. Novus Polish
  22. I'm heading down to the job this week (they are a client of mine now). I'll grab a bunch. They are strong enough to hurt your finger if you get it caught between two of them (I know, trust me). I'll post up some pics of them when I pick them up.
  23. I am sure it was an great surprise for the unsuspecting souls who were there for the concert. Great show!
  24. This is great. I'm hopefully a few weeks away from getting my set, and the armor tips have been excellent. Less I have to figure out when I'm putting it together. I have some heavy magnets from a promo that my old company did way back when. They are magnets that they use on oil rigs to hold up their maps, so they are stupid strong. They are coated as well, so they shouldn't scratch anything. If they work out well, I probably can get some more (they have 100's of these magnets in boxes, and I'm sure I can scoff a few.
