  1. Hey @jimmiroquai, I tried to message you but I don't know if it went through since it threw me an error message. I wanted to find out how to get added to the list and what deposit I need to make to you today.
  2. Right. I know that -- hence, the 'technicality' that they can sell it as a GF, but that's not what they're doing. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. This is a PRIME EXAMPLE of why buying armor on eBay is a horrible idea. Star Wars Stormtrooper Armor Gerardo Follano GF Helmet, Armor Package In the opening sentence the seller says that he's a 501st member. Now, whether they really are remains to be seen, but (in my opinion) it's a pretty big A-hole move to post a version 2 GF helmet and armor in the first photo (lifted right from the "Star Wars Helmets" website) then posts pics of the REAL helmet that you'd get if you bought the armor, which is actually an FX helmet and armor. (essentially getting by on a 'technicality') This move infuriates me when I see people do it because they KNOW they're bait and switching an inexperienced person which instantly would put a bad taste in my mouth wondering if all 501st members are this shady.
  4. I just sent you a message to get on the waiting list if you have any extras after Celebration. Fingers crossed -- I really like the poster!
  5. Personally, I really like the new armor and I was one of the people that did sign up for that interest thread. Given two options, I'll take (what looks like) comfortable armor that 99.999% of the planet wouldn't be able to tell the difference over the restricted movement, don't even think of trying to sit down, armor. But that's just me.
  6. Actually, it's exactly the point. DETAILS MAKE THE DESIGN! You can't say, 'it's not the point. All those are ...details!" then turn right around and point out... DETAILS of what you don't like! And I'm sorry, but I think you're way over romanticizing the OT armor based on nostalgia, not 'artistic design'. If the R1 armor was the FIRST armor we would have seen waaaaaaay back in 1977, and the OT armor would have been what the costume department put up for R1, EVERYBODY would be throwing a fit about how horrible it looks. I can see it already, "This armor SUCKS! Looks like it was designed by a bunch of amateurs! The helmet isn't even symmetrical!" And let's be real... Star Wars movies are made for ALL fans -- the large majority of whom are not rabid, foaming at the mouth crazies who dress up in ridiculously uncomfortable white plastic, pour over every single tiny minute detail and host discussions on forum groups about the aesthetic appeal of plastic costumes. I'd bet that 80% of SW fans will have zero clue that they even did anything to the Stormtrooper costume. Like the new armor. Hate the new armor. Love the new armor. There will be someone for every camp -- it doesn't mean that any one OPINION is better than the rest. But I can tell you this -- I look forward to attending events in my R1 armor with fellow 501st members wearing OT armor, TFA armor, ATOC armor and ROTS armor.
  7. Sorry, but I totally disagree. Members usually fall into two categories: "Screen Accurate" and "Imagined". I myself fall into the "Imagined" category. If the Empire were real, Stormtroopers would look much more like the Rogue One troops that we're pouring over in this string. I think the vents in the jawline, teardrops, and back of helmet are AWESOME. The actual tubes in the vocoder - INCREDIBLE! The recessed ab buttons and the moulded ammo belt SWEET! Personally I cannot WAIT for the first post offering the new TK armor (and I pray, PRAY it won't be ANOVOS that does it). When that day comes, my MTK will be for sale within minutes.
  8. Nice build! I got my MTK on Thursday and I've been hard at work as well! On the shoulder bell, you might try injecting a sliver of superglue and clamping tightly. One question I have -- what's the size of the tube for your TD? I'm going to Home Depot today and need to pick one up.
  9. Ah makes sense. Like I said I saw their site awhile back but wasn't paying too close of attention to them since I noticed that they were using pics that I KNEW wasn't their armor. I wound up selling my ANOVOS and going back and buying another MTK because I wasn't a fan of the final product. Good luck and I hope it works out for your recruit!
  10. "I don't want to tell him he wasted his money..." Are you asking because the armor is so bad that he can't get approved or he can't get approved because he bought a recast? I've seen their website once (can't remember how I got there) but I guess I didn't pay that much attention to it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. This. Brandon is exactly right. I had a financial issue about 4 months after buying and building my original armor. I figured it would be at least a year before I would be able to afford another set of armor. About 30 days after selling my armor, I was walking into my bedroom to change clothes -- as usual, I took all of the spare change I always had at the bottom of my pants pocket every day. After I thought about it, I counted up what I had in my change bowl and realized that in about 60 days I had almost $150! Fast forward 4 months and I had my second armor, bought, built and DONE! To this day I still get called 'Captain Couch Cushion' by the guys that know me in my Squad. You have your priorities right - 'Fiscal Responsibility over Fantasy Fun' - you'll have it before you know it. Good luck and don't be a stranger!
  12. The problem with TK boots is that they NEVER (EVER) have any common sizes in stock. I've been contacting them for over a year and every, single time it's the same answer -- "Sorry, we don't have them in stock and we're looking into another provider..." I finally gave up. I've ordered from Francois on here, but I'm waiting to hear back.
  13. As one that has had to sell my original armor while under a brief financial hardship, I can assure you of two things: There will be an armor there when you're ready It will be SO worth the wait Enjoy your wedding and congrats on your pending graduation! My son is finishing his Freshman year at Oklahoma University so I know costs are a killer!
  14. That is freaking AMAZING! Man, I am great at sketching, drawing, painting, but I'd give my left arm to be able to sculpt!
  15. Thanks for all the replies! DDay, I think you're right and actually it confirms my thought about making it more of a prop display by adding the zombie mannequin head inside. The $50-$75 range was what I figured I would get if I posted it to the FISD board - but I've had really good luck with posting my SW stuff on eBay (typically 30-45% higher sales point) because, in most cases -- selling customized created items on FISD is like a hot rod mechanic buying a completely restored classic hot rod from another hot rod mechanic instead of finding that same model and customizing themselves. But people that aren't hot rod mechanics will buy a fully restored classic car because they don't know how to build and customize classic cars. Make sense? Tap talk TK
  16. I've wanted a helmet bag for my bucket for awhile now, but while surfing through Amazon the other day I found a helmetbag that looked like it would work and was getting good reviews. I ordered it on a Friday night and, as a Prime Member, I got it on Sunday! I have a number of patches in my collection (I always order 2 or 3 when I order) so I took a couple of them to my seamstress and had her put them on. Got it back yesterday and I love it! I'm heading to Texas tomorrow to shoot a commercial in my armor for a Japanese Airline and I'll be carrying my bucket with me!------------
  17. Hey all -- So I was digging in my Stormtrooper closet yesterday looking for a couple of replacement pieces and I saw a bucket that I threw in there awhile back because I tore a triangular shaped hole in the forehead when trying to remove brow trim. For the first time, when I saw it I immediately thought, "Death Trooper"! So I pulled it out, got my Dremel tool out and went to work. Now, I know that the hole 'technically' isn't on the correct side and the hole is a lot bigger than most, but with a triangle shaped tear over the right eye -- you work with what you got. I finished it up last night and now I'm considering between three options: 1. Add it to my collection of trophy heads on my office wall 2. Buy a zombie mask on eBay and throw it on a mannequin head that I have and display it in our extra bedroom (my Star Wars / Stormtrooper room) 3. List it on eBay and sell it. (I don't think I can get the $125 price that I want from the 'For Sale' section on FISD) Anyway -- just wanted to post pics for the group!
  18. Looks to be inside a magazine or booklet at the show. ---------------
  19. Just saw this posted! Wow! --------------
  20. Saw it on Reddit from someone that's at Celebration -- they also posted their ticket and photo from being on the vendor floor (early)
  21. Wow! Pretty sweet! AND it looks like they have a side arm to boot! -------------
  22. Living in Oklahoma (home of the Sooners), I'm a huge fan of Oklahoma University (OU) and one of the chants we do at Sooner football games is to have one half of the stadium yell, "BOOMER!" and the other half echoing "SOONER!". My son is also a Freshman at OU, so a good portion of my money goes to OU as well. My hope is to one day have the other half of the stadium yelling "TROOPER!", but that's another talk show.
