  1. Is the pattern on the bolt that hard to see, or is it just the lighting in the photos? That's one of the parts that puts me off from making a scratch-build because I haven't got access to a good enough router/mill, but the rest seems like things that can be made in your garage, so to say.
  2. Looks like it's made from this home made clay substitute us norwegians call "trolldeig." That's right. "Troll dough." Basically a smooth, clay-like dough made out of flour, a TON of salt (Yes, I've tried eating it, tastes horrible) and water. Mix, model, cook in oven. Mostly used by kindergarteners and old hobby aunties to make little figurines and welcome signs, baubles and novelty items for decorations.
  3. That song though, gets in your head. Catchy!
  4. I hear you brother, where I live there's like, one Stormie (whom I don't know, and for all I know he has moved away) and one Biker scout, but she lives like, 1 hour away in another county, so we don't have a lot of contact, even though we have a lot of friends in common. We don't talk much except from the occasional party or night out, but she has a kid so even those are sparse. Everyone else lives at least two hours away in one direction, five hours the other way, in less "rural" places, (as far as that goes in tiny little Norway), so getting in touch is a bit hard as long as I've got to find a place to sleep, etc. And most of them seem to keep to themselves in their freetime (who'd have known crafting and hobby geeks like to keep to themselves?? Haha!) I'm pretty hermit-like myself, though, so I don't really feel the need to meet people every single day, but it'd be nice to meet other Star Wars-kooks too. (Trying to get a friend of mine to join for a build, though, and he was kind of keen on doing it, but he's more of a HALO fan than Star Wars fan so he's like "Yeah i wanna build the Mjolnir armor" whenever I mention costumes, and I'm pretty much trying to convince him white plastic is better and easier.)
  5. That is one pretty thing. Really looks like it's much older than it is, great job on the detailing. It's neat that it has that hand painted look, yet isn't messy and full of uneven stripes and messy handiwork. I'd say it's one of the best I've seen, ever.
  6. Yeah, I think you'll have more fun over time with Destiny, to be honest. It's probably closer to the things you like (Much like a mix of Skyrim and Mass Effect, actually) Watching gameplay videos is fun and all, but playing a lesser clone of a far superior game, just doesn't do it for me. Even though it IS Star Wars. They could have done so much more, but they cut a lot. Now don't take me wrong, it's still a good game, i suppose, it's just not what 65% of the fanbase expected or wanted from an upgraded version of this immensely popular series. It got a 72 score on metacritic, which is in no way mindblowing. I guess they based it too much on wowing the audience with graphics, (which are PERFECT, in my opinion) it's just not that exciting as a complete game, especially considering you'll have to double the price for the "season pass" to actually get a hold of all of the content. I'm having a hard time stating this this as I was really looking forward to it after the beta, like REALLY hyped, but then like, four hours after launch the web was already flooded with "CUT CONTENT, SHORT ROUNDS, REPETITIVE GAMEPLAY." so i steered clear for the rest and now it seems like all the whooping and cheering has become "mehs". They took the "serious take on fun" (like battlefield did) out of it to make it another arena pray and spray shooter. I'd much rather have tactical military manouvers. Also, MICROTRANSACTIONS. It's already expensive, why pay even more to have content that should be available through SKILL, not money?
  7. Aah, sorry, didn't catch that they were the low types, at all.
  8. This is probably more akin to the COD series, with enclosed, fast-paced battles as opposed to the sandbox-style freedom and overall size of the Battlefield (1942, 2, 3, 4, 2142, Vietnam) series, and has little to do with the old Battlefront games. No real vehicular combat or flight modes, no option to go AWOL on any huge map and snipe from a totally ridiculous distance, just a few maps to select from, no story mode, career mode or campaign, weapons are too similar to each other, no classes, and too little focus on actual teamwork puts it apart from those games. The customizable characters do not really impact anything, it's mainly just visuals. I'm like you, I'm mostly into story- and playerdriven games, not just mindless skirmish stuff, although i like FPS games, but mostly because of the freedom and realism some of them provide, (like ARMA 3) or interesting story (like Half-Life 2 and F.E.A.R.) But comparing Battlefront to Skyrim and Mass Effect isn't really realistic, as the play style is totally different, and less "intelligent". It's just a straight forward team deathmatch/CTF shooter, no real tactics nor story involved, and character progression is pretty much not present. For gamers who like story and progression, that's often a good point of not getting it. That being said, it's visuals are completely stunning, so if you want a (visually) excellent Star Wars game, go for it. It's probably the closest thing you can be to Hoth, Tatooine or Endor without actually going there. And the things it DOES good, it does REALLY good. It really FEELS like Star Wars, like a beautifully crafted extension of the movies, a real addition to the franchise and not just some way to cash in on the tragic demise of LucasArts. They just kind of missed the "game of the year" mark, and in my opinion it shines best when you have a quiet moment during the skirmishes and are able to look at the scenery and props. When the fighting starts you often kind of forget you're in the Star Wars universe and switch to "pew pew pew" point collector mode. It's a cool game for true fans. But this is my opinion as a GAMER, not a SW fan. As a fan I say; You get to be a stormtrooper, go for it!
  9. I found a potential source of (black) chelsea boots, they look good from the pictures. Pricing seems fairly OK, and they are supposedly custom made to order. Could be a good source if you're in the UK or Europe and want to dye your own boots for the genuine look. -----------
  10. I'm picturing the guys at this "EmPal Suurecon" thing just losing their shucks and assembling an.. intergalactic repair van, I guess, when Vader actually died. And showing up at the pyre like "yeah, we're here to fix your dad's exosuit, it says here he fell down some stairs or something?"
  11. Whoa, you must be rich, crazy, or both! I can't even afford the resin kits, lol. Looks reeeeaaally good, though!
  12. I'm only 5'9 and I was simply told "That's basically perfect" since a lot of the stunt guys in ANH were about that height. (To make Vader look taller, i suppose?) I like that someone just 4'11" wants to be a stormtrooper. You really should brace her for A LOT of "too short.." comments, though.
  13. Dammit, I wish I had the money, or else I'd buy it NOW.
  14. I'm guessing the shin guards is to protect the plastoid material from melting from direct contact with lava...? Still makes no sense, though. Also, there seems to be a cloth piece covering the kidneys and butt plate? Or is it just a weirdly rendered armor piece? With the proper kind of plastic/rubber for the hose, this shouldn't be too hard to make. I bet there will be screenshots pretty soon of his backpack too. (I love how they have actually taken the time to make a seam in his under armor piece, that's a nice detail, these people really make these things come alive.)
