Holster: Where, who, and how much?
Dark CMF replied to Brinkco's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
Darman offers his holsters in 4 (I believe) and 8 ounce leather. I'm unsure about the lower number only because I've ordered two 8 ounce versions from him. The 8 ounce leather works very nicely, in my opinion. -
ANOVOS OT TK - Scott's build log
Dark CMF replied to charlesnarles's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
If they are vinyl/printed type of stickers, they can be peeled off and then use mineral spirits to clean the area before applying new ones. If they are transfer/wet decal types, then they can be cleaned off using mineral spirits. Either way, use mineral spirits to clean the plastic before applying new paint or stickers of any kind, and it will leave it perfectly smooth/good as new. Troopers Helping Troopers! - TK-51878 -
ANOVOS OT TK - Scott's build log
Dark CMF replied to charlesnarles's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Did I somehow insinuate that there was a lot of work to be done to get to Centurion? He and I have both built a few kits, and I'm fairly certain that we'd both wind up with roughly the same list of things to do, with kits in hand. The tube stripes - while fine for basic approval as is - are too low on the helmet for those higher levels of approval. There's really not much work involved in replacing stickers on a helmet. These kits are well made, and won't require a lot of work - through the eyes of an experienced builder. As you watch these build threads (UKSWRATH's in particular as he's built a few kits already) the definition of "very little" may expand a little bit. Either way, doing the extra stuff is where most of the fun comes in to play during the build process. Should be fun! Troopers Helping Troopers! - TK-51878 -
Anovos TK kit Instruction

I believe it is 1.5mm, based on UKSWRATH's build thread. He said it is very flexible, very resilient plastic. -

Anovos TK kit Instruction
Dark CMF replied to rpglover1983's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
I'd plan for no less than six weeks, especially if you're (wisely) using E6000. I'd allow for longer if you're planning on changing out the strapping (which I would do) and/or doing some extra work to achieve EIB and Centurion. Better to take it slowly and have it look awesome a few weeks later, than to rush through it and have it looking kind of rough. You've waited this long for the kit(s) to arrive. A few more weeks won't be that bad, and besides, building is fun! Savor it, enjoy it!! With Unquestioned Loyalty - TK-51878 -
Okay, abandoned Safari, and went through Tapatalk to fix it. Should work now. Thanks for the heads-up! With Unquestioned Loyalty - TK-51878

ANOVOS OT TK - Scott's build log
Dark CMF replied to charlesnarles's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
I typically won't go more course than 400 as it can eat the plastic a little bit too easily. As others have said, don't sweat the ear gaps. If you are thinking of going for higher levels, I'd look into some tube stripe stencils, or decals as the ones on the bucket are a little bit lower than they should be. A pencil-width down the tube is about all they need.

Exciting stuff though, after all of the anticipation and waiting, we're getting to see these kits come to life, step by step. -
Accurate ANH Hero Neckseal
Dark CMF replied to CreamPye's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
Hey there, Carrim, welcome aboard! First thing to do, is read around and interact with the forums a little bit more. Get a few more posts under your belt, and try that thread again. Five total posts oughta do it. Veedox is a great choice though. -
Okay, so we've all seen both ROTJ, and TFA. In TFA, an Ewok appears at the resistance base, but we saw the end of ROTJ. Or, did we see some crazy Rebel propaganda film constructed to lead us to believe that the only things burning on the forest moon of Endor were Ewok bonfires, and the remains of Lord Darth Vader? Science has stepped up its game to prove that what we saw was indeed simply Rebel propaganda, and that in the end, it was the Ewoks that burned. Physicist Dave Minton wrote a white paper explaining the whole glorious end of the Ewoks. Have a look, in the name of science. http://www.techinsider.io/endor-holocaust-science-study-2015-12

If I may, get yourself some acetone, keep your scraps. You may wind up using some needle files to open that tear up a little bit, covering the front with painter's tape to keep the outside of the tear smoothly aligned with the rest of the outside, and fill it from the inside with ABS paste. Then, you can easily wet sand it down to smooth again, and use Novus 1,2,3 polish system to bring the shine back to it. Nothing to lose sleep over, Bryan.

Doopy E11 with working stock and other mods
Dark CMF replied to crisisfilms's topic in ANH BlasTech E11
Looking great, Adam! Beautiful work, and some very clever advancements on some of these mods. Definitely following, keep,it up! -
It is indeed interesting, I have to think that this was a homemade toy perhaps, and in that light, it isn't all that bad. Definitely a conversation starter. Great share. Thanks!

Very cool! Did they approach you about being involved, or can a unit submit info/reports for them to include? I've never heard the podcast before this, so thank you for sharing!

Holster: Where, who, and how much?
Dark CMF replied to Brinkco's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
Second vote for Darman. He supplied my original one, and since my belt sought out a new owner following the TFA premiere, I have another one from him in the mail at this very moment. -
Previous shipments from ANOVOS did require signature for delivery, but that may have been due to the contents of those shipments.

It does appear that signatures are not being required for these shipments, mbased on a very large number of people saying that their boxes simply arrived today.

At least one does, and now three have. LoL

Bobby, the site was moved to a new server to support higher capacity traffic during the year. If that's not what you're thinking about, what sort of updates did you have in mind?

EDIT: Disregard. LoL. Totally see what you mean now. Thanks.

Everyone breathe. We've seen a lot of consternation here over the last month and a half about the shipping dates. Well, the shipping dates have arrived. You will all be receiving your BBB soon enough (yes, some sooner than others) and you can then begin the build process. You are here, so you'll potentially have a community of over 10,000 members (FISD - not the Legion) here to see what's going on, and offer assistance as needed. From everything that has been seen and discussed (in some cases to the point of nausea) thus far, you're going to receive a quality kit, accurate enough for Legion membership and by all accounts requiring very little work for FISD higher level approvals. Continue to be happy about your purchase(s). We've got your backs. If we discover that some form of alterations need to be made after you have the plastic in hand, the community here will ensure that you all understand how to do whatever needs to be done. There's not much that can be done to a TK kit that has not been done at some point in time, here at FISD. Dean just confirmed that everyone still has until their order ships to cancel if that's what you desire to do. The only thing that has changed today - for anyone - is that you now know that the box(es) will begin mailing very, very soon. Get ready, the ride is about to begin, and welcome to your new sickness.
