  1. A couple of pics of and update - extractor and plunger - Miliput molded and sanded.. Thnx
  2. Thnx dude, I thought I had stuffed them when I started painting them.. but when I put the last coat on I was surprised how well they came up.. The grey metal smooths the 3D printed piece out quite nicely and adds some depth to it.. still thinking how I might weather it (rust dust?) and if I should rub n buff it another colour..
  3. Hello All, So I've been lurking around and posting to other guys build threads and it’s probably time I start a thread of my own. First a bit of background! My kit came sometime the middle of last year, yes there will be a long build time on this blaster - my apologies. I have already been working though my build so there are quite a few tasks have already been done. Extras I using for this build are: T-Jay's e-11 - Completion Set (v1.9) + Hengstler conversion counter Gazmosis's - replacement Magazine themaninthesuitcase - 3D printed parts. A real M38 Scope (but needed to find some replacement screws) - UPDATE, I have opted to mod the resin scope as the the real one is probably too heavy for a doopy.. Snaggletooth’s - Replica Hengstler 400 Various tins of paint, glue, other bits a pieces, clamps etc.. Reference material, The E-11 reference document of course! Props to all the other guys posting their builds (T-Jay, Bulldog44, Gazmosis, usaeatt2, thrawns-guards, themaninthesuitcase) just to name a few. There are loads of tips tricks, insights and a new mod every day! – Keep innovating guys and thanks! Anyway here we go!! The Front Sight mod I worked on some resin cut from the block left over from my Hengstler mod. All bit s are hand carved and glued together. This was my second attempt, the first one I made from the actual doopy doo casted piece, but I broke it when drilling the holes. Hengstler mod I managed to get hold of the Hengstler conversion counter from T-jay, the finished product looks okay, but when I was mucking around gluing the inside I got a little too smart and accidently glued the push in reset lever in the out position. I can still change the numbers when I take the cover off. The mod part next to the reproduction. Power CylindersI opted here to use Chris’s (themaninthesuitcase) 3D printed parts, really happy with the result. Pre Painting Post painting Re painting, first I put coat of Mr. Surface 1000, then tried a few different paints. Tried a coat of X-18 semi-gloss back and freaked, was way to shinny. So I covered it with XF-84 dark iron (flat). The flat dark iron hides the bumpiness of the print quite well I think. Anyway Its all hand painted tho, so spray coats would probably come out even better. For the resistors I just used some plastic from one of my daughter’s toys. I cut four pieces drilled tiny holes in the ends and glued in some wire. Recoil spring end cap and firing pin assembly Noting really special here, just been following some of the standard mods out there. Folding Stock I used some of the 3d prints on this part of the build Handle and trigger Again pretty standard mods. My real M38 scope and replacement screwsIn these shots the screws look nice and shiny, they have rusted over a bit since the pic’s were taken. Real against replacement – if you need a screw I have a few left over. That's it for now. Thanks for reading. Cheers Bryn.
  4. Hi Guys, Also check out this print of the power cylinders http://www.shapeways.com/product/CUHFYBVR2/e-11-power-cylinders?li=shop-results&optionId=58810818they are meant to be finished off with the T-Jay's completion kit.. Cheers Bryn
  5. Wow T-Jay, I just found this build, haven't even finished my doopy build yet and this makes me what to get into a pipe build! Fantastic stuff. !!! Bryn
  6. Yea but the RS doesn't look harsh like the Anovos bucket - check these pics out at this link.. http://www.starwarshelmets.com/rs_prop_masters__armour_and_helmets.htm
  7. Now I don’t think that I am digging this bucket, to me the look seems a bit harsh in general – I guess this is from the moulds used. The wonky frown and the sharpness under and around the eyes seems to take over the whole look of the bucket.. I have an ATA bucket and it is nicely defined but not edgy.. But that is just me.. Sorry.
  8. This reference rocks! I've had my head buried in my ATA ANH Helmet build which I have almost fished and just stumbled across this.. It looks like it's time to get back to my doopy build, no more multiple tabs open.. Fantastic work guys, thanks heaps.. Cheers sla73
  9. Looks fantastic, I'm in the middle of my ATA helmet build now, some great ref pics here..
  10. Wow Sent from my D5833 using Tapatalk
  11. Hello Guys, Well I know it has been a while since my last post, I've been waiting on some screws from the UK. So, I managed to find some 8 BA 1/4" steel cheese head screws from a place called BA Bolts www.ba-bolts.co.uk. They are close to the originals, but if you look in the pictures you will see that the head are slightly smaller and the thread is slightly different, the 8 BA looks a bit bigger.. Anyway I put them in the scope and they fit fine, the one in the middle was a bit tight.. They look okay, I'm not 100% happy, anyway you be the judge and check out the pics. Here is a link http://imgur.com/a/ciOqS Cheers sla73.
  12. Thanks for all the feedback guys... I must admit I wasn't 100% sold on metric, given the scope was made in the US.. Cheers
  13. Back Again, So, it seems like I was given a bum steer by the clock repair guy.. He has just come back to me with the following.. "The screw is close to 7BA. In fact I think it ended up being closer to 8BA. Even so as close as it was it was slightly different in the pitch which made me consider it was a metric thread." So looks like a fine metric thread.. I will keep looking I guess.. Cheers
  14. Hi There, A quick update, no real luck at the clock repairer. He said that the thread could be a 7BA screw. Not sure if this is correct.. Anyway back to the hunt! Cheers..
  15. Thanks Brian, I'm off to see a clock repairer today, will take these pic's with me. Cheers Bryn
  16. Hi, Well I have done some measurements and a bit of research. Bulldog 44, like you say I’m pretty sure that the we are looking at a slotted cheese head bolt/screw, I think it’s an imperial or a US measurement.. not sure.. anyway 1/12 inch thread 8/12 inch long 2/12 inch unthreaded bit close to the head Here are a couple of pics.. Cheers Bryn
  17. Hi All, This is my first post in the FISD! Hello from Sydney Australia. I am starting my build of a E-11 DD, getting all the bits a pieces together etc. and I have managed to get a pretty good M38 scope locally here in Australia. The only problem it is missing one of the 3 screws on the front of the scope. I know this may be a long shot, but I am hoping that there may be a spare floating around. If not , if anyone has some info on the screw itself I would appreciate it, looking for size is it a cheese head or fillister etc. Cheers sla73. P.S I have Tino’s set for the DD build and the crews are too coarse a thread.
  18. I would have to agree with others who have commented on the HQO's. If you are keen to make your build look as best as it can, it's not a stretch to go the upgrade on a set and get the HQO! Cheers sla73
