Need a little help choosing armor...
DizzyStormtrooper replied to Mr.Sandman's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
The AM kits dont come with helmets anymore anyway. I went with AM cuz I like the cleaned up/ symmetrical look, it was more affordable for my budget, and there was no waiting list (though my armor is black so there isn't much demand as the white). If you read pandatroopers AM build, he shows how to trim everything to size. The chest plate, cod, and thighs are the hardest to get right with this kit but it was with the effort for me with the custom fit. I can even sit down and climb stairs -

Yeah the white is definitely more recognizable by the general public, but I'll just leave this here ----------- -

Ah thanks. Im just looking at what other weapons there are in wartimes and scifi, for a custom build. "minigun trooper" has a nice ring to it -
Armor sizing question
DizzyStormtrooper replied to DroidHunter's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
And AM sells the black armor on Ebay as user mypropcollection. AM, tupperwaretk, tkboots, mypropcollection, all the same guy. Its just where he sells the extra stuff not bought off the tkboots site. Plus its the only legit armor on the bay. The white version isn't sold there only black because he's trying to get rid of them while he works on the new molds. the price has been around 400 to 450 shipped -
some time ago there was a link to a company that made e11's and other guns out of abs. They basically were 2 halves you glue together and were horribly inaccurate (because of lack for detail in the pulls) and overpriced. I'm not interested in getting one but does anyone remember what i'm talking about?

Not sure if anyone else this happened to but the item or sku numbers, dont know which, for the mens medium and xl are the same. I ordered the xl and got sent medium, its not the shipping employee fault for the mixup, the stickers just have the same numbers so it needs to be fixed in their system. I didnt exchange them because 1 the m still fit confortably enough and 2 if they pull another from the shelf itll be the same so I dont want to go through that twice lol.

TKBoots sizing solution
DizzyStormtrooper replied to DizzyStormtrooper's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
Did you trace the inner sole (removable padding) or the actual bottom of the boot? Cuz if thats the inside then dammm they DO run big Edit: guess I should've said "insole" in the first post, sorry, not too good with words lol -

TKBoots sizing solution

How long is from heel to toe? The point of the ruler is so we can match up, an inch on the image equals an inch on my ruler after printing. this is in case the image doesn't come out full size, we can just stretch it in word or paint to actual scale, since paper sizes might vary -

Youd only have to wait a few days if you wanted an AM kit in black, the spec ops detachment could always use more shadow stormtroopers -
TKBoots sizing solution
DizzyStormtrooper posted a topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
I have an idea to solve the "my shoe size is x and a half, but hear tkboots run big, should I get x size" conundrum. (I came up with this because im between 10 and 11 and don't know what size I should order.) If you kindly would take a sole out of your tkboot, put it on a blank printer paper, trace around with a marker, tape a ruler to the paper, scan it and post the image here. This way anyone can download/ print the image (using the ruler in the printed image as a guide to match with real life rulers for 100% scale) If we get every size, just print and plant your foot and youll know what size to order -
Armor sizing question
DizzyStormtrooper replied to DroidHunter's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
I'm 5'9" 170 and the AM shoulders, forearms, biceps and shins fit perfect on me. I had to cut the cod and trim the chest plate, hands, and top of the thighs but it paid off for the reduced price and gained some experience with proper fit/scaling and stuff that I feel I wouldn't have gotten if I paid more for a kit that fit out of the box. But I digress, AP and ATA were my other choices, I like the non screen accurate "cleaned up" look the AM gives me -
I read on that old snap tutorial something about getting long post snaps (5/16) because some aren't long enough to hold through the plastic or something, maybe that was for certain armor thicknesses. The generic "100 pack line 24 nickel plated snaps" on Ebay are fine right?

Dizzy's custom bucket WIP
DizzyStormtrooper replied to DizzyStormtrooper's topic in The Foundry - Armor and Prop Making
I got it before my armor, plus its more durable than any vacuformed plastic. I'll have to cast it again when its done due to the weight of the bondo, but I've been busy in real life and haven't had time to update, just being really picky about smoothing everything and getting the traps correct. As for my armor I've got some thigh trimming to do then I'll start gluing it up -

Found some new gloves
DizzyStormtrooper replied to Laspector's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
How strange I tried these on at harbor freight and then I find this thread lol. The fit is nice and tight but the ptt button might have a little difficulty getting in since the fingers aren't stretchy, I didn't care for them too much since the netting shows your skin like in the picture but yeah they are great for warm weather troops -
Guess where the thermal detonator is

Its the shins that are reversed, the inside shins overlap the outside, which isn't correct, but most people cut them off and but join them anyway. The thighs are correct

Trimmed vs Untrimmed
DizzyStormtrooper replied to kpresseault's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
i'm a metal guy and not a plastic guy lol, id say go untrimmed since youll have it scaled to your body and have plenty of excess scrap for snap plates -
