  1. I might try this on mine too but I'm afraid that it might slow me down even more (and my progress is already glacial)! Looking forward to the final pics!
  2. Well if 1/2 inch is correct for each piece (or 12.7mm for us non-imperial types) then the total depth when put together will be 14.7mm (allowing for 2mm ABS thickness). I'll try 15mm for each piece first and see how it looks.
  3. Hi All, I'm not quite ready to start a build thread just yet but I was wondering if anybody nows the ideal depth of the drop box? I've looked around the forums but I can't find this detail and as it's going to be my first cut I want to get it right. Thanks for your help.
  4. Hi Tony. Just wanted to say that this is a great "live" build thread! My TM is still waiting in its BBB until I'm sure of where to make the first cut! Cheers Andy
  5. This looks so good. Can't wait to see the finished article.
  6. Is your head so large that it's a virtual planetoid?
  7. I note that the TD on the right has buttons on his ab plate...?!
  8. By the way Si, did you go to the NSC a few weeks ago? I was there in disguise (dressed like a dad with wife and children in tow) but I think I remember seeing a distinctive figure with a Mohican. If I'd known that you were on here (and the UKG) I'd have dropped the disguise and said "hi".
  9. Loving this thread. If my eventual DDs build has half of what you've already done I'd be one happy trooper.
  10. Good luck with your application. Hope mine turns out as good!
  11. My 2mm ABS TM has been ordered and I asked him to make up and paint my helmet too. Looking forward to the "Big Box" moment in the next few weeks! Really like the paint and weathering on your blaster. I'll be using this for reference methinks.
  12. The photoshopped image makes it seem achingly close! Hope you continue to make great progress.
  13. Hi all. I also have a question about the scope rail (apologies for hijacking the thread slightly, Aaron). I've bought a piece of aluminium which is the correct width (I hope) but I'm not sure what thickness it should be (I couldn't see this info on Billy's scope rail guide). Does anybody have this info or can they point me to it?
  14. Another vote for DoopyDoo's. I'm literally sitting here with a Hasbro E-11 in my lap that I'm converting with the DoopyDoo's conversion kit. I'm aiming for EIB or higher so have a full DoopyDoo's kit in a box but before I build that I'm practicing my new skills on the conversion kit first. That way when I mess up (for example too much hardener in the filler, too much glue - everywhere) I'm doing it on something that doesn't have to be that perfect.
  15. Thanks for the information Karin. Looking forward to seeing your sculpt!
  16. Thanks Karin. What thickness of rubber will you be aiming for and what technique will you use to apply it (I'll understand if these are trade secrets)?
  17. Basic shape and size looking good (in my humble opinion). Will you be adding separate rings of ridges or a continuous spiral to form the mold shape?
  18. If only someone was working on a screen accurate rubber/latex neck seal (Karin, cough)?!
  19. I like the sound of this neck seal more and more! When you have some more pictures to share I would love to see them.
  20. I've been trying to work out what your kit will look like as I don't know what you'll be able to achieve with your moulds and the latex. Are you going to do a sheet of neckseal that you cut to shape and glue or are you aiming to do a complete seal like this (ignoring the profile)? By the way the texture of your sample reminded me of the texture I saw in a screen grab of Han's neck seal. Good luck with continued efforts and I'm looking forward to seeing the results.
  21. Hi Karin Just my poor attempt at humour. The Stunt CRL says that the neck seal has to go to the top of the Adam's apple and the one in the top picture doesn't. By the way, do you have a rough idea of your neck seal's eventual sale cost?
  22. Karin, your sample is looking really good. I've just been watching the "Making of Star Wars" and trying to get some more reference for this thread although it looks like someone has (obviously) beaten me to it. The colour pic above comes from about 35:07. I wasn't able to get a good picture of it but watching it enough times seems to confirm that this particular seal is flexible rubber with a corrugated profile. I had thought tubes before or ridges (like Han's hero neckseal) but not anymore. Also noticed that it is sitting below the wearer's Adam's Apple and so he wouldn't pass the basic 501st requirement
  23. I was a bit worried that the problem was at my end. Glad to see that the site is back up again and was only down for the best of reasons.
