  1. Just cleared the history and I'm back in.... thanks for the advice!
  2. I'm not sure if I'm just overlooking something simple, but I cannot log into my account from my Iphone or Ipad. After entering the username and password, it brings my right back to the same log in page. I've tried even after logging out from the pc, and I've deleted cookies.
  3. Has anyone ever considered "pinning" this information under the FISD guidelines? I imagine I wasn't the only one wondering what these ranks meant when I first joined...
  4. I just recently completed an AP build and posted several pictures of my thigh assembly here: --------- Good luck with your build!
  5. I live here & I'm taking the family! Won't dress up on Saturday but might consider it for Friday or Sunday.
  6. ... and whatever you do, don't try to emulate the sniper plate position of the stormtrooper on the far left of your picture! LOL!
  7. ... and if you elect to trim the top and bottom as suggested, you may notice in your reference pics that the cover strip on the front of the thigh does not have to align over one of the ammo boxes. I too think that you've made some great improvements!!!
  8. The ammo pack on your right thigh may be mounted wrong too... I believe the top edge of the pack should align with the molding on the thigh. In other words, it appears to be mounted too high. Otherwise, it's a very nice build!
  9. ... and well deserved! Your weapon builds are amazing. Looking forward to trooping with you soon!
  10. I am relatively new, but just finished my first build. The opening at your wrist should be big enough to get your hand through. With regards to the length at the wrist and elbow, you will have the ability to adjust it later once the sides are glued together. Good luck and have fun! My kids were excited too when my box arrived... just wait until you get your lid assembled!
  11. The snaps are for connecting armor parts together with nylon "webbing" or straps. Check out the arm tutorial a--------------for example. You won't be attaching anything to your body suit (intentionally).
  12. While waiting, you can work on acquiring boots, neck seal, black body suit, clamps, E6000 etc. Be prepared, sometimes there's a wait for boots.
  13. If you are going for screen accuracy, then it should face inward.
  14. Here's another update to the thigh trim in case anyone is having similar questions and wants to see how it is turning out. After placing an inner shim piece, I aligned the top portion of the lower molding. Once set, I used a modeling iron to correct the top and bottom. Now, it's ready for the 25mm cover strip. The only thing left to trim afterwards will be the bottom edge to allow my leg to bend without pinching.
  15. I'm using AP now for my first build and have found it very easy to work with. The kit comes with plenty of extra strips for making shims and cover strips.
  16. It doesn't appear you have to worry about your arm being "too big" for the armor... I suggest you trim both sides of your forearms leaving only 8mm of ridge on either side. This will allow you to place a 15mm cover strip on both sides of your arm. The forarm may still feel too big, but you can add foam padding while maintaining an accurate look for your trooper. Just be sure your hand will fit through the smaller opening. If you trim more than that away, you will have trouble like daennika describes.
  17. I definitely agree with Troopermaster... don't cut where your line is. Measure 8-9mm from the molded ridge and cut there. I suggest you only cut the armor on one side first though and try it on for size. If your arms are big, the forearm pieces will be hard to get on if you trim down to a tight 15mm cover strip on both sides. You'll want to cut your armor on one side, glue an inside shim piece to it, and then attach the other side before placing your cover strip.
  18. Here's an update to the thigh armor. I marked the top and bottom, drew the "dashed" lines on each piece (thanks Terry and Simon) and trimmed. In the third photo, you can see how nice the pieces will match up once I attach the shim and a 25mm cover strip. One area of uncertainty... how do I address the discrepancy at the bottom of the leg when I place the cover strip? Do I stop the cover strip at the molding on the right side, or try to cover over it and extend to the molding on the left side?
  19. I am trying to determine where to cut the back of my thigh armor to create a butt joint/ cover strip result. I am using AP armor and want to have a tapered fit of the thigh to fit accurately to my leg. In the first picture, you can see the line drawn where the overlap occurs. In the second picture, the pieces are fitted to show how they will fit together. If I trim along the pencil line, my cover strip will ultimately be place on a diagonal, and as seen in the third photo, and I will have to work around the molding on the bottom of the thigh. I am concerned that this will not look right. If I mark the middle of the top and bottom and draw a straight line down, this would make sense, but the "overlap" molding on the outside leg piece will interfere. 1. Should I trim this overlap off completely first and then draw my cut line? 2. Am I correct to think that I should create a tapered fit? 3. Or, if I am to cut along the pencil line, how do I address the fit near the bottom (photo 3)?
  20. I have an unused trimmed ab plate available if you need a new one. Send me a PM...
  21. With AP, it's pretty easy... since two of the pieces are identical, you just have to glue each of these to the other non-identical pieces. Then it's just a matter of figuring out which is left and which is right. The AP kit comes with labels inside the shin pieces to help. You had me doubting myself for a moment, but I checked... all looks good. Thank you ALL for your guidance!
  22. With the AP kit, the left inner shin is identical to the right outer shin.... So perhaps my right leg will fit better.
