  1. Hello everyone, I will soon be in the position where I will start to strap my kit together with elastic and snaps and had a few questions. For the back, kidney and butt connections do I want to make the straps as short as possible right from the get-go? In all the pics I found, these 3 sections are very close to one another, and not really any gaps at all between them. Also, How close should the back and chest be to one another? By this I mean how tight should they be around my neck. Also, if you have any tips for this process please let me know...because I am dreading it. Thanks guys
  2. It looks great to me, actually might be better than mine lol
  3. Yeah, I wanted to get mine perfect in the beginning like most of the armor on here. But it was driving me crazy, and i wasn't enjoying putting the kit together which is part of the reason I got it. Now I just take my time and try to have fun, and I keep reminding myself that the originals were certainly not perfect, and what I manage to get together will probably look better, so no use fretting over it.
  4. I am also in the process of building(hopefully finish in the next week or two) my first kit, and it has been alot more difficult than I thought it would be. I even got so frustrated that I took about 2 weeks and didn't touch any of it, to keep from going insane. I have learned the hard way to take your time, and don't worry about getting it absolutely perfect (mine certainly wont be) Sorry I couldn't help with your question, but I thought I would comment anyway.
  5. Hmm...I think I have just enough material from the sheets that came with my kit. I hope so anyway.
  6. Something like this...I found it here on the forums a moment ago: Uploaded with ---- I wouldn't need one that wide though.
  7. Instead of shims, is it acceptable to just have wide cover strips on the back? I think the cover strip would look better, but idk
  8. Thanks for the replies everyone, I guess I don't have to have the thicker stuff since its so hard to find. I'm trying to do the backs of my thighs with some of those V shaped cover strips, I guess the For Sale sign should work if I also put one inside, shouldn't it? Thanks again
  9. Hello everyone, Before I go out searching, where have some of you bought actual plastic sheets for cover strips? I have a For Sale sign, but its very thin and would like something thicker. We have a lowes, wal-mart, Michaels craft store, and that is about all I could think of around here that would have such a thing. Thanks
  10. Hello everyone, I am looking at my decals, and noticed that the front temple decals are longer than the place on the helmet. If it line the top up with the recessed area, the bottom goes on right off the bottom of the helmet. Should I trim these or put the sticker higher, on top of the ridge. Thanks
  11. Hey everyone, Thanks for all the answers ive gotten in the last few days regarding my helmet. I am about to paint the mic tips and had a quick question. Do I leave the inside white? looking at reference pics it just looks white to me. Sorry for the stupid question, but ive learned the hard way the last few weeks to ask anyway and save myself a lot of trouble. Thanks again Also.. this is going to be ANH stunt helmet if that matters.
  12. Hello everyone, I just have a quick question... Its been about 3 or 4 days since I painted my helmet with Rustoleum enamel, and i can still stick a nail into the paint but its dry to touch and will leave a fingerprint if i press hard. Is it OK to go ahead and put my decals on and paint the frown and ears? If so, I would like to go ahead and finish it and put it on display on my desk and let it fully cure there for as long as it takes. Thanks
  13. Hello everyone, I am curious if its alright to glue the brow and neck trim into place. Especially the neck trim, it seems like it does not want to stay in. Also, before I go gluing, the neck trim I want to have the rounded side facing out right? One last question, where do I want the 2 ends of the neck trim to meet..the back? Thanks for the help
  14. Hello everyone, I painted my helmet yesterday with some Rustoleum enamel, and its looking great. But how long should I wait before handling it? The can says dry in 24 hours, but since I put on more than one coat im guessing it will be more. How long does it take this stuff to fully harden? Thanks
  15. Thanks for the pictures, it has really helped me out.
  16. Hey guys, Does it really matter which way the kidney plate goes? one side has more of a return edge. Thanks
  17. Great suggestion, ill pick up some clear coat in the morning if its still tacky. Thanks for your help
  18. Hello everyone, I did a little weathering on my E-11 hasbro a few hours ago, and the paint is still extremely tacky... Is there any reason for this? It is painted on very thin, since i was just weathering it. Thanks Also, its raining outside...maybe this has something to do with it.
  19. Thanks for your advice, since it will probably be a couple months before I finish putting together my ATA set, ill just let it sit in the mean time. Thanks again, Michael
  20. Also, its been over a week since i painted my blaster with krylon fusion, and its still just barely tacky. Would some clear coat fix this? If so what clear coats work with fusion? Acrylic? Thanks again
  21. I wish it was warm enough here for us to have mosquito's
  22. Sorry to post another question in this thread, but for Krylon Fusion is there a certain clear coat that needs to be used with it? I was looking in the store the other day and the only krylon clear coat was the regular acrylic krylon clear, and it didnt have anything on it about fusion. Thanks again
  23. Is Rustoleums "Specialty Lacquer" spray paint safe to use on plastic? It doesn't mention plastic anywhere on the can, but it does say "...high luster coasting that provides a smooth, durable, ultra-hard gloss finish on wood, metal, and more..." Anyone know about this paint? Thanks here is a link: ------
  24. Awesome video. It seems as if he cooked it too long though.
