  1. Cool. I'll see if I can't come up for PortCon. That looks fun. It's part of the base CRL for the death trooper: One on each shoulder. The shoulder bells are considered effectively symmetrical; they may be worn interchangeably on the left and right shoulders and should have a black elastic strap that wraps around the inside of the bicep. -Eric
  2. Looks good to me. It's a little hard to tell since the photographer was a little far away and you don't fill the frame.... but do you have shoulder bell elastic that goes around the bicep? There are a handful events up in Maine coming up. When are you headed down this way next? -Eric
  3. Yeah let Jim know your PTT is broken and see what he says about it. He's a good dude and I'm sure he'll make it right. -Eric
  4. Does it work in Vox mode? If so your PTT is probably broken. They're really fragile and frankly kinda suck. Email Jim and tell him about it. -Eric Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Thanks man. I've got the crl open on my laptop but I haven't had the time to review and save it. Hopefully tonight. -Eric Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Ok. Here goes.... there are two ways to put together RT-MOD. Overlap Butt join with cover strips Unless you specify Rob trims the kit for overlap. It should be obvious by looking at it how overlap works. With butt joints you trim the flat section of each part to the same width as your cover strip (you can easily do this even if Rob hasn't) and apply one below the seam for strength and one above the seam that people see. Check out the first link below that gunslinger posted. That's Tim's RT-MOD build. Jesse also has some good photos in his thread of overlap: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/24315-rt-mod-armor-build/ So does Lee: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/23553-jmm7375s-anh-stunt-rt-mod-build/ Yeah the first cut/trim/step is always the most harrowing. I'm glad most folks are trimming RT to be butt joint. That's the way to go for sure. -Eric
  7. You'll count as some manner of stormtrooper soon enough Please do join us. -Eric
  8. Hey man. Do you ever make it down to the Boston area? Next time you are let me know. PM me here of the NEG boards. I'm happy to meet up and rap about Stormtrooper armor. -Eric Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  9. Go to both! -Eric Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. So yeah... the Marriott jerks wants a ton of money just to serve punch and pie in a public area. There may be a last minute punch and pie party in the lobby. Please stand by. -Eric
  11. Sweet man. Thanks. -Eric Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Hey guys. Those are actually meant only for members of the legion -Eric Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. The dude is the worst. The. Worst. -Eric Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. I've got the wiki page open here at work. I'm hoping to do a little tweaking today to add wording for the two different variants. -Eric
  15. Yes on the comic back please. -Eric Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Hmmm. The hot water bucket trick may work. I suggest letting it sit with E-6000 clamps and take for a 2-3 days. Maybe rough up the areas to glue with some sand paper before reapplying glue. -Eric
  17. They're the same parts but Rob just trims the joints differently so they butt instead of overlap. It isn't anything you can't do... and are already doing. The shins looks great btw. -Eric
  18. Look I'm alive! Can someone put together some comic and GG statue helmet references in this thread today? I'd like to see more information before we decide anything. Flat seems like the way to go here. Mostly for practical reasons even if the reference material shows bubble. If the comic or statue have bubble let's go with "flat or bubble" I see no reason why this helmet must (as in required to be) be of a hand painted style a la ANH stunt. It is an idealized costume and wiggly lines don't make sense. If people are capable of painting the helmet well enough we shouldn't stop them. As long as it doesn't look like an impolite person. The statue has white with a little bit of a rugged sole. Does the comic show anything different? I say white soles but they should be legacy trooper boots not regular TK boots with a white sole. Both for sure. The comic and the statue have different back plates but they should both be allowable. (you're welcome Kevin) I'm at peace with it being yellow after tonight. That said... who has a good front and back shot of a legacy trooper? Dr. Bender is pretty wrapped up in other stuff but I'll reach out and ask him he does. -Eric
  19. FISD cocktail hour together tentatively schedule for 7pm Saturday night. Location TBD. Please pencil it on your calendars and stand by. Thanks! -Eric
  20. I bought my icomm in October of 2011. I love it. It works perfectly in spite of me not finding a good PTT solution yet. After a couple years the battery died on it. Jim sent me a new one and it was replaced in a few minutes. Easy peasy. I sent mine back to get newer firmware and I had it back within a week. Great service and a great product. I bought the ROM/FX out of pure curiosity to see what the difference is not because I don't like my icomm. I'll also likely be rigging that aker up semi permanently to my vader belt and the ROM/FX has its own speaker. When the ROM/FX gets here I'll make a little video comparing the two a la Dday and the Vader voice toys. -Eric
  21. I'll let you know if/when it ever gets here -Eric
  22. I think you may have seen it in one of my threads: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/28004-three-icomm-push-to-talk-options/ I've used it a few times and it works pretty well. If you look for something like this: ----------You can make your own magnetic PTT with this type thing. I taped a rare earth magnet to one of my fingers and the switch to the other and touched them when I wanted to talk. -Eric
  23. Here is a link to Echo's fans: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/24372-fs-helmet-fan-system-echos/ And yeah... even with fans it can get pretty darn sweaty in armor. It's good to wipe the insides of your kit down after a troop lest you smell like you've stored your armor in a junior high boys locker room. -Eric
  24. I can't wait to try yours -Eric
