  1. Looks fantastic Ricky. Well done with the alterations mate. Good luck.
  2. Thats the plan Ricky. Well it was but I've tried twice now but can't get the damn thing on by myself. I bet the troopers were always the last hands on deck in an emergency on the death star . First chance I get to have someone help me I'll take my pics and away we go. Nice pack by the way Stuart
  3. And a happy easter to you Mason. Hope you are getting some good R&R.
  4. I can't believe it. Tonight after three months I strapped my last piece. Thank you so much to all of you that have given me so much help and advice so far. I could not have done it without you. I tried to put all the armour on to show you all a pic but couldn't quite manage it on my own. Just one question, do I apply for 501st membership to the 501st or the UKG? Many thanks again everyone, Rob. Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  5. Hi Ricky. Sorry to hear about the fail. I'm no expert at all but I am in the process of strapping myself. Could you not just get the back to sit tighter to you by making the webbing shoulder straps shorter? Good luck mate.
  6. Thanks Daniel. The shims are one inch wide.I was surprised that I had to use shims as I'm not a big bloke. I 'll get some pics up soon. All the best Rob.
  7. Hi Folks. Just a quick question today. I have had to add side shims so how should I go about the six side rivets? Should I do three on the AB and three on the kidney as usual or three on the AB and three on the shim to keep the spacing of the rivets how they should be? Rob.
  8. Thanks for the tip Vern.
  9. Thanks for the help Quoc
  10. I am very dissapointed to find that I am going to have to add about 1" side shims either side of my ab and kidney plates. I say I'm dissapointed because I wanted to be more S/A but never mind. We can't all be super slim. My question is how to fix the side shims. On one side I was going to glue both sides of the shim so it is permanent and on the other side of the ab just glue down one side and have velcro on the other so I can put it on. Does this make any sense and is this the way to go about it? Any pics of how others have done the shims would be very much appreciated. Mant thanks and I promise the many questions are almost at an end........ Rob.
  11. Thank you Mathias.
  12. Ah good question. Trooping practical is what I had in mind. I have been looking at the TK-300 blast 'em tutorial.
  13. Tonight I got to a big milestone. I finished trimming, sanding and polishing my armour. Woo Hoo! I have some pics saved showing how to starp it all together but was wondering if there is one tutorial that is really good that I should follow. I have done some searches but was wondering if there is one that is considered to be the best. Many thanks for any links or suggestions.
  14. Get well soon Jess.
  15. You might be wearing plastic armour but mine is made of a blaster proof carbon/ alloy composite
  16. Thats what makes the world an interesting place. Different ideas and ways to go about things. I just thought it would be a good idea for trooping thats all. Now the world don't move to the beat of just one drum, what might be right for you may not be right for some
  17. Cool. Thanks for the help Karin.
  18. I think its just the general plastic, hollowness of them. I did think of lining the back of them with white felt or the furry part of velcro but was just wondering if latex might work well.
  19. Another pro would be no more scuff marks on the legs from the boxes.
  20. Thanks for your input Karin. Put me down on the list for a pair if you do decide to try it. I'll be happy to only take half the profits for giving you the idea
  21. The only problem I can think of is colour matching to the armour.
  22. I'm not a fan of the clunky noise the drop boxes make when you walk so was just thinking, would solid latex drop boxes be a good idea? Maybe Karin could chime in with some idea. I know it's not how it was done in the movie but maybe they could be for trooping. Any thought's? Edit: Sorry, not latex but the white latex like material that Karin uses for the hand plates.
