HOWTO: Create a Scope Visual Effect (Pablo's way)
TKDUEUNO replied to TKDUEUNO's topic in Tutorials, Tips and HOWTOs
Don't say that, your blaster is still the finest and best-crafted out there!!!! :) I can't imagine how perfect it would be a rev.2.0 ! I've almost finished mine, I'll post complete pics soon -
HOWTO: Create a Scope Visual Effect (Pablo's way)

It won't do if you put the three elements together, the key to the effect is the right distance between the cdrom+film and the lens! -
HOWTO: Create a Scope Visual Effect (Pablo's way)

I used short copper pipes of various diameters, a chromed pipe for sinks, steel washers, a funnel tip, look at following pic: bye! Pablo -
HOWTO: Create a Scope Visual Effect (Pablo's way)

Exactly! Smitty, feel free to use it for your blasters, in a world ruled by old copyright laws we don't need to keep restricted little things like these, but thanks a lot for the fairplay! :) I'll be pleased to see my idea implemented by another blaster-builder -
[OT] OMG Ketariniii, the new gif of "umbrellasaurus" is AWESOME!!! Is that you? Pure genius! LOL [/OT] I'm 5'7"/5'8" and I decided to go TM, since it has no trim lines I'll be easier to fit on my body. Plus is awesome

Hi! Since mine has turned out pretty good, here's my method to obtain a nice visual effect for the scope! All you need is a lens (I took mine from an old Polaroid camera), an old shiny cd-rom, a piece of red OHP film and a superfine marker. 1- cut out from the cd-rom a circle with the correct dimensions of the inside of your scope 2- cut out from the red OHP film a circle of the same size and draw on it the scope lines as you like. Be as precise as possible! (This way you can try different scope styles without cutting out your entire cd collection ) 3- assemble as shown: The key is to put the right distance between the lens and the cd-rom+OHP, experiment till you find the right compromise! Here's the result: Hope you like it! bye, Pablo EDIT BY DAETRIN: updated title

I'm on the Troopermaster waiting list, and after seeing these pics ... my patience is definitely running out! IT'S AWESOME! I really dig this combination and the little heatgun-tweaks you did, nice job!!!!! I'll surely do them on mine!

Precisely! Who cares if now the dawback near the cantina entry now moves more and moans? The only thing that pops in my mind is: "Doh, another CG creature..." Plus, if I were the "move along" TD I'd simply SHOT that little-stupid-annoying sentry droid.... ARGH!

I really can't stand one single change they did, no one has sense IMHO, just to sell more copies, as if they needed that... Check here for comparisons shots in ANH: ------------------ They don't seem to understand that a good puppet or a good spaceship model are WAY BETTER than CG: no matter how good it's done, you can't feel it as real because it isn't, while a good made and animated puppet or model ARE real and your imagination passes the barrier!

TK-1491's AP helmet build[*AP]
TKDUEUNO replied to TK1491's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Sweet build! But can you please flip horizontally the last pic? We're so used to the bucket asymmetry that it's hard to stand it flipped -
Progress I've made on my armor!
TKDUEUNO replied to Naglium's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Nice work, but the frown should be painted with a darker grey, I don't remember the correct Humbrol number, but someone is surely going to recall it -
Look here: http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=2410 I've done a lot of progress from there, but haven't taken pics yet. I'm working on the wooden grip right now, no resin parts for me Am I going to reach Elite Status for my blaster with a scratch built Hengstler counter or must I use a resin copy? Since I want to incorporate the electronics of a toy blaster, I need to put the speaker inside a hollow counter!

I'm waiting for my first suit which is a TM, so I'm going for ANH Elite at first attempt My E-11 made following Dark Sith Lord's Tutorial is almost done and it's very accurate! Can't wait!!!

Me too here, for quite the same reasons. RANDAL Which did you like better: Jedi or The Empire Strikes Back. DANTE (exasperated) Empire. RANDAL Blasphemy. DANTE Empire had the better ending: Luke gets his hand cut off, and finds out Vader's his father; Han gets frozen and taken away by Boba Fett. It ends on such a down note. And that's life-a series of down endings. All Jedi had was a bunch of Muppets.

Exactly! I was thinking the same thing, that's why I asked that. thanks!

Another little question: the TM helmet has the "tear" on its right eye? I can't tell that from the pictures I've seen so far... Can someone post nice pics of TM helmet, please? Thank you!

It's the passion involved, also intended as suffering. Recast and improvements: passion. Spending 8 years tweaking self-made molds and watching the same movie scenes thousand of times frame-by-frame and praying for HD: LOTS OF PASSION. And we, as lovers of the white armor, naturally feel that passion.

I did it yesterday and it's amazing how similar they are in every single part! The fact is that in the end the suit it is so simple in design that if a single curve is slightly different you would notice it and the overall impression is different, because your attention is not driven away by details. It's like trying to reproduce a great melody with few notes, if you don't catch all the subtle nuances it won't work. The greatest and simplest designs are the hardest to reproduce! I think this is what Gino or T*E intended in another topic when he said that every recast is better than a sculpted armor: a recast, even if it's bigger, smaller or less detailed, follows precisely the curves of the original, while a sculpted one guesses them from low-quality images taken from a motion picture filmed with different focal lenghts and watched on a flat screen by human eyes. But despite all this I chose the TM Now that I've trained my eyes I really can't stand the inaccuracies in the FX armor and bucket, while when I saw it the first time I tought it was perfect! I think that all the little asymmetries are made on purpose to make the suit more "real", interesting and friendly to our eye, as the bucket is asymmetrical like the human faces are (it wasn't a technical bound, they could have done it symmetrical if they wanted).

My apologies, you're right, I've watched again all the stormtroopers scenes af ANH frame-by-frame and the peak is almost always present. I've updated my pic and here's a screenshot in which it's clearly visible (see also here, the trooper on the right). It's so difficult to see it because it's always covered by belt boxes! I wonder if it's made on purpose and why... maybe because of the holster? Trimming needs? Or just to add a bit of asymmetry? Who knows!

Mic tips and speakers
TKDUEUNO replied to trooper1's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
Are Stomper's Hovis with speakers luod enough? Is the sound too "thin" because of the speaker's small size? I've ordered a ROM/FX and was wondering what speaker setup to pair with it... -
I knew you would say that So, for the right leg, compare the ANH of the first pic and the TM of the third, from the front they should look the same and almost symmetrical, but yours has a deeper cut on the left. I'm not a Tigh-Fighter, LOL, just trying to be constructive to make your suit even better and closer to perfection! Thanks for the attention, much appreciated!! Since I'm know on your list, A NEW HOPE for me is that you modify that in my future armor Ok. nothing more to say, other than you're going to make a dream come true!
-
It is, indeed, but my picky eye could't resist the temptation of pointing out the only two curves that IMHO don't match perfectly
-
Here's a little comparison between some shots from ANH and some pictures of TM suit: the "pinch" I noticed is surely worsened by viewing angle, but there is. Excuse me, but I didn't find better reference pictures. What I mean is that viewed from the side, instead of being a smooth bend it has a "wave" that comes back forward on the top. On the sides of the ABS strip used for the butt seams the plastic seems "pushed" too much, so the outer cut seems too deep, I hope I explained what I meant
-
Yes, it's a thing that really bugs me, I'm not sure I can stand it I think I'll wait for Troopermaster to finish his new vacuumforming table and get an ABS suit from him, so I'll have the best suit in the toughest material. The only thing that I don't like in TM armor is the "pinch" on the top of tighs, but maybe I'm too picky Thank you, guys!
