  1. I'd suggest - if you like that suit go to their home website-------
  2. I'm 6'1" and was about 210 when making my wife's RT-Mod and it fit me like a glove - And by "like a glove" I mean surprisingly well right out of the box. Kit comes with velcro, elastic, ab buttons, belt material, T.D. kit, and is pre-cut and trimmed. Oh and the helmet is pre-assembled with padding inside. For us it was a great first kit. Not the cheapest but if RT was avalible in Black I'd buy from him again in a second. I'm getting an AM kit in Black in the next few days so if you wait a week or so I can give you a few comparison shots as in theory RT and AM (new FX) are the suits designed for 'bigger' troopers. That's my 2 cents.
  3. Hey all - That is some great weight loss going on! Congrats BlackDog on the diet change and resultant weight loss / fitness gain. Great to hear. Tigger68 - Good for you for the steady weight loss. It's tough especially around holidays and birthdays ... It's so easy to just have "oh one bite of this", "or a nibble of that", or a bowl of this and that" ... Been there eaten that. Keep up the good work. And as a note to your sister - after 3 kids she probably won't regain the flat stomach she had in her early 20's. I know female tri-athletes and competitive mountain bikers who, after giving birth, always have a little bit extra 'padding' around their lower abdomen. It's just a result of the local tissues being stretched rapidly over a short period of time and as we get older said tissues loose their elasticity and don't contract back to where they were. This is especially evident in women who have 2 children in less than 4 years. And a note regarding weight gain after 'diets' - Most people who adjust their diets and lose weight will gain some back, some will gain more back. The main reason for this is if you are eating a restricted calorie diet your body will start to function on less energy. If you aren't exercising and keeping your metabolism up there will be weight gain when you go back to your 'normal diet'. If people binge once they hit their target with their metabolism still in a state of "conservation" the weight gain will be sudden and drastic. So it's a must when you alter your diet to lose weight, especially if you're lowering your caloric intake, you must increase your activity level - this will help both to lose weight and to keep it off. Again congrats all - Keep it up!
  4. ATA - Awesome! I didn't know there was a black option there. Mind you people could fill a book with what I don't know ... and they have. Now how did I miss your initial post, regardless thanks for pointing it out. I look forward to lookin' at all the cat/build pics and hearing about the building of your own Grand Army of the Republic ... Sounds fantastic!
  5. Re: above post - OOPS!!! I'm not used to my wife being on the forums. Gotta remember to check and make sure she's signed out. Have Fun with the build Vern ... Cap-W right?
  6. Panda - I'm building the exact same kit - Is the trooper on the Badlands board? I'd like to connect and we can go back and forth. Also there is a specialist program (Similar to EIB ) for the Spec Ops. folk in the works. Can you also ask him to join the Spec. Ops board as there will be a large number of us building the same kit at the same time so it should be a great resource.
  7. Just my 2 cents ... Bear in mind I'm pretty new as well so I might not be able to give you as much info as you'd like. And tupperwareTK is one of the two people who organizes AM kits. Is AM a good kit for a beginner like me? - From a building point of view I understand that AM (the new FX) comes trimmed and is pretty straight forward to assemble. What is a good helmet to compliment this suit? - That's a good question I've seen a white AM suit with an MR lid ... The post is around here somewhere. Sorry I can't be of more help. I'm pretty sure most helmets will go well just make sure they fit your head first before you decide. If AM is not the best what would you recommend instead? - I just finished my wife's RT suit and it looks amazing. But for a first suit and a first build, AM is probably a good place to start. What things is AM not good for? - (What) other materials do I need to finish the armor kit other then tools, undersuit, gloves, neckseal, etc...? - Industrial Velcro, elastic strapping, snaps, E6000, rare earth magnets (a big help), clamps, masking tape, pencils, ab buttons or correct colour of paints, scissors or craft knife (maybe) ... And a note on the boots: if you're thinking of doing TKboots order now as I belive they have a back order list going. Any other advice?
  8. I saw this and had a chuckle. I can't belive he states "These suits probably won't get you into the 501st". Hopefully these don't sell to anyone ... A New Low...
  9. Guys thanks for the input. After doing a bunch of reading I realized I was in WAY over my head. That and my wife saw a list of my basic costs and future costs and she said "Yea, that's not going to happen." So the dream of a "resin" copy has died before it was ever really alive. Again thanks for the input and Panda I've sent you a PM. If I do make a blaster based on a Sterling I'll post pics, pics and more pics.
  10. For a second I forgot where I was and I thought "I don't care what this costs ... I'm going to talk to the owner, and find out what size this kit is ... ". Whew ... Thank goodness it's not a sale thread as I enjoy being married. Awesome Looking Kit!!!
  11. Panda - Great! Thanks for the info. I probably wouldn't be exporting out of Canada as I don't want to start a business more just off set the cost of the initial replica while helping out local troopers. So I'd do my best to keep the costs low/reasonable. Thus one of the reasons for starting this threat: a rough estimate of said price point. Then once my costs were covered I'd probably pack it in ... Unless I got hooked ... But that's a long ways off. Again this is only in the planning stages but you are one of the people I'd approach for input and to take it for a test drive. I've seen your builds and your eye for detail is frankly amazing. Thanks again for the input and for posting.
  12. Hi All. This is simply a very early stage market research poll. So there is no commitment on your part nor is there any product to be sold (at this time). I simply want to gauge interest. I have been able to, with a lot of work, e-mails, etc., get a Sterling Machine Gun (de-activated) in Canada. What IĆ¢ā‚¬ā„¢d like to know is how many, if any, troopers would be interested in a resin* copy of said weapon to use as a base for an E-11, or a resin copy of an E-11. THis would not be a full resin copy of the finished E-11 but an E-11 assembled from the constituent resin parts for a better and cleaner look. And before you ask about quality: The first sale would only happen once I, and others (if this gets off the ground IĆ¢ā‚¬ā„¢ll need volunteers to do test drives and give me feedback) are satisfied that the resin replicas are troopable: both in look, and durability. Granted there is a market for non-troopable / display E-11s, which these would work for, but IĆ¢ā‚¬ā„¢m looking at making something more durable. Thanks for your time and I look forward to your feed back. Feel free to post here or PM me. Matt. PS - I'll check in regularly to answer and questions or concerns if any. * - Please Note: IĆ¢ā‚¬ā„¢m using the term Ć¢ā‚¬Å“ResinĆ¢ā‚¬ for convenience sake. The final product wouldnĆ¢ā‚¬ā„¢t be a simple resin replica as that would be too breakable and heavy, so instead of mentioning different potential components of the construction i've just used the term Ć¢ā‚¬Å“resinĆ¢ā‚¬. If you have ideas for said components please chime in as IĆ¢ā‚¬ā„¢m totally open to suggestions / the voice of experience.
  13. In No Particular Order: 1) read the first 8 or 9 posts in this forum. That'll give you all the basic info you need. 2) At age 15 you might not have the budget nessisary to build a kit but then again you might. Be forewarned this is not a cheap hobby. 3) Don't buy off ebay. There are exceptions but in general it's a good rule to follow. 4) the worst part might be that you aren't done growing yet so any kit you make / buy you'll grow out of in a year or 2. And having said that I'm still new here so hopefully someone wiser will post and cover any of my short comings. EDIT: Sorry before going any further get over to the "New Members Introduce Yourself Here" area and write a breif intro.
  14. Good to hear that everyone is doing well - That's fantastic And a 10 pound loss in a month is great. That's a nice steady pace and should help to avoid cravings, binges and other commonly seen symptoms of rapid weight loss. Mike thanks for throwing a source for your statements, that's good info. And while I agree with them, sources are always handy as the statements can be researched thus allowing other people to make an educated decision on what may or may not be right for them.
  15. Two votes for Novus. Makes the white suits shine and the black suits into a mirror. And as an added bonus #1 is also an ABS cleaner. It says it also leaves a "fog resistant" finish ... From what I've seen (or not for that matter) it's not 100% anti-fog by any stretch but to does help.
  16. Hi All, A group of Badlands Garrison members (with Outer Rim Squad Members) got together today to participate in the anual Peachfest Parade. It was a tonne of fun. Thank-you to everyone for making my wife and I feel so welcome, and we'll see you all soon - We'll even have our kits done!!! Enjoy Link: http://picasaweb.goo...055814301498513 There are a tonne of Pics so they are all on Picasa but here are a few samples. 17. Hi Mike - Welcome aboard. I went through the same decision a few months ago. And from having just gone through it I've learned a few things: - Decide what costume you want in the end: TK, TD, TX, etc. As the build and accessories costs may be different. - Decide what your budget is. - What body type are you? As this could be the determining factor in which type of armour you get? - Are you going for a full kit (incl. helmet) or do you want a helmetless kit and pick up a separate helmet? If you can post your answers to these people will be able to give you more personalized advice. For what it's worth my wife has an Rt-Mod suit and I love it. Easy to build and a great looking kit. I've got an AM TX coming. EDIT: Just read your follow up post - Looks like you don't really have a budget concern and you want as screen accurate as possible.
  18. Sean - good to hear from ya. Congrats on the new job and for sticking with your program. Slow and steady wins the race! Let us know what happens next month.
  19. If you've only had one bad customer experience then count yourself very VERY lucky! As a buyer and seller of things on-line I can understand your frustration, and I think your idea of selling to better known troopers is a good idea. And while I don't like the idea of publicly airing any dirty laundry; if you have concerns about a member of the board then I'd convey these concerns to someone or privately to other sellers so as to make sure this doesn't happen to any of the other vendors. Thank goodness you've decided to keep selling and not let one bad apple put an end to your fantastic contribution to the community.
  20. Thanks for the info on the Mods. I actually contacted Cozmic and as they hadn't sent it out yet I canceled my order. I like the idea of buying cheaper helmets that require less work to get the same, if not better effects. ----------- I still need to practice my armour buying mantra: "Read twice, buy once".
  21. Darth - That's a good point but not having your experiance I was not expecting this, and from the sound of it neither was the OP. I'm not upset, now that I know, but had I opened the box and seen that I'd be a tad concerned. And as far as being a blemish I'd say this is "an imperfecton that mars or impairs" regardless of how it was created.
  22. Whew ... It isn't a sticker, but that's a heck of a blemish. I've got an eFX helmet coming so at least now I'm prepaired. Jason let us know how it turns out, and thanks for the pics and for posting.
  23. I'd send an e-mail to eFX (or cozmictoyz if they are the supplier), include the pics, and ask them what gives. That doesn't look normal.
  24. Tanner - Well Done!!! It feels pretty damn good to hit those goals, and as was mentioned the armour fits better! Post the pictures out when you can skinny.
  25. Final bit to finish and I was looking for pictures of the back of the belt so I could finish this off this evening. Thanks All!
