  1. This Monday I got an off white belt from TKitell and a holster from TK Bondservnt. So I've worked to put them together. Here's the results!

    Holster from Vern, Fits perfectly:

I heated the ammo belt with a lighter and bent it to curve around like this:

Everything on the belt connects with snaps. So it can be taken apart:

Adding these snaps was a bit scary. Doubting my measurements. But it went perfect. Also a bit tricky adding them without any pliers and just that punch that's sometimes included and a hammer. I resorted to using the corner of my kitchen sink as anvil.

The glue on the other drop box is still drying, but here's how it all comes on:

  2. i would cut it to extend out about 2" - 3". here is a video of an original ESB blaster

    http://www.metacafe.com/watch/3487999/prop_store_of_london_empire_strikes_back_e_11_blaster/

but like you stated there was several different lengths of magazines (some just had a wooden block shoved into the receiver), so i dont believe there is any one "correct" length, i would just study the screencaps and make a judgment call ;) personally i like them a bit on the longer side.

Except that it's an ANH blaster. Notice the power cylinders on top of the magazine, and the hengstler? Must be incorrectly labeled at the prop stores site as they too say it's ESB.

Disclamer: I didn't have sound when I saw the clip. Could be an explanation to this AHN/ESB thingy.

Seams on a second view with another video in between that there is in fact no audio in that clip.

  3. Nice, neat helmet build, Mathias!

And a superb show of ambition to recreate the hook system on the calves.

I also like the way you've cut the ends of the finishing strips. Love it! You have a good eye, sir!

Well.. a part from the frown, vocoder and the insides of the helmet most ain't my work. It was built by Paul himself on request and the decals are Mikes, TK-4510.

    Still - Thanks a lot! :D

The hook system on the calves was somewhat of a pain. Maybe my needle and thread-skills and/or equipment were not really up to the task. But anything can be done if you just want to! (and I have two spare elastic+hook bands finished)

The cut ends on the finishing strips are from something I saw or read on here before. I just liked the look, as I think it makes the strips look more of a detail with purpose rather than something used only as a cover up for the join.

Thanks again. It feels like building a good suit is more of a collaboration of the good people here rather than one single entity. :)

  4. Very nice mate very screen accurate with the bicep hooks, and i like the mod on the thighs to it all proceding as i had planed the emprour would be very proud of you :sith:

    Thanks a lot! :D

I'll try to get the other hook to bend further tomorrow when the glue has set properly. The return edge on that biceps piece turned out to be wider than the other which in turn pushes the hook back a bit giving it a different angle.

  5. Hi Mathias,

Maybe enough to make a movie  , no but seriously i have the CAP/TE ESB CLOUD CITY , TM ESB , TM STUNT , TM HERO ,and my new baby TM SFS WEATHERD , i did have a SDS HERO but i sold that it was to flimsey and could crack quite easly plus i thought it was oversized , Mathias i will have to get them all together and take some pics and get them posted on here B);)

Please do that, it would be awesome! :)

  6. Last week I cut open my thighs to redo them and make them narrower to fit my slim body better. The piece on the right illustrates how much I cut out. I have still to take pictures of the finished thighs, but the are finished.

Today I decided to try making biceps hooks from some scraps left from when I redid the thighs. Here are some pics of that.

    The pieces I started with:

After heat-bending them into shape (which didn't go very smooth btw):

And finally gluing them into the biceps with some E-6000:

  7. Thanks!

I already looked there, I like the looks of the ATA, but the paint part kinda scares me off...

Also, in what price range would it be?

If you'd consider doing a sandtrooper you probably won't need to paint it gloss white. Many good looking sandtroopers have unpaited HIPS-armours. But then again you'd need to weather it, which is kind of painting it in a way. If that's what you want to do, then check out MEPD.

  8. If you want to make your thigh armour narrower, undo the back joining strip and tighten them up. Don't try to line the top of the inner with the outer piece as this will make them too wide for you. Most of the ANH thighs are mis-aligned at the backs and you just need to cut your joining strip at an angle to suit.

    Looking pretty amazing there Rich!

    Thanks! I'll do that! :D

Good thing you ships so much extra abs for strips that I'll be able to redo it - even several times in case of screw up!

Although it really isn't that hard of a build. I really don't understand how so many are afraid of butt joining pieces considering all the how-to:s we have here. I've built my kit in my bedroom.
