  1. that is true fritz which is why I did NOT take the coathanger approach. This coolant hose coil is NOT model specific. They do have a couple different sizes available. Sadly I don't remember what brand this was but I did buy it at Pep Boys. It is a loose tension so sliding the bolt is no problem
  2. I used a radiator hose spring thatI found at a Pep Boys auto parts store. It is used for keeping coolant hoses from kinking

  4. I was just asking this because after all these years this gorgeous helmet has been plagued by fact that it comes with these plumbing parts that EVERYONE throws away and replaces with hovi mic tips. Correct hovis are out there!!! How 'bout an upgrade????
  5. vacuform a penny, get a sheet of scrap abs and heat it gently and press a penny into it. Or ask an armor maker to sell you some
  6. Your best bet here is to look at centurion builds. You will be able to see everything from that.
  7. Boy there seems to be a lot of bubbles in that resin
  8. There are no specifications in regards to the inside of your armor parts. It is in my opinion a tremendous amount of lost effort for something that really serves no purpose. Tricking out a helmet is one thing...but the armor?
  9. it's confusing what goes to where??? Is it a loudspeaker system?
  10. NNNNOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! A forstner bit will tear it apart. Those are not designed to be used on curved surfaces. Mark your drill hole locations. Drill your first round of holes with a 1/8 + or- bit as a guide hole. This will help you zero in exactly on your mark. The bigger bit will find its own way into this smaller hole and pretty much guide itself. But please use standard conic tipped bits. (not brad point bits either)
  11. I agree!!!
  12. not to be too picky, but there are a couple things that really should be fixed. You ejection port above the trigger is not supposed to be oval shaped. And not too sure what you got going on at the end cap. It is like there is an extra set of the folding stock clips that are on the bottom of the butt cap. There should only be the retainer clip there. You are also missing the heat deflecting crescent that should be on the backside of the side/front vent hole just under the front sight. Were you going to do something about a charging handle slot? You have a nice weapon there!!! Just trying to help make it stellar!!
  13. That's a joke. It sounds like all NE armor in future should be ordered as a "light" kit to allow people to buy a proper helmet. What is the crowning jewel of ANY armor? The helmet. Why stand for a helmet that can never be assembled correctly?? Buy an ATA or RS Helmet. If you buy an RS, it will be like the armor and helmet are back together again *snicker*
  14. that's my boy!!! Well done my friend! Well done!!!
  15. http://www.gaspumpheaven.com/shop/home.php?cat=363 the "s" trim is the R102
  16. Nice job on the lid so far!!! Keep us posted!!
  17. Make sure the template will match your pipe diameter!! The template should match at the bottom seam. If not, you may need to enlarge or reduce by a few percentages to get it proper.
  18. Nice recovery on that knee pack!! Make sure when you trim out your waist belt that the ends are trimmed to the proper length. ATA's waist belt has traditionally been too long. The ends should be trimmed down to about 45MM or roughly 1 3/4 inches from the last box to the end.
  19. I would order a new ear. That one is sitting way too low. The top of the ear should come darn near touching the brow trim at the trapezoid. These are the mistakes that help us learn. Next time you will know what NOT to do.
  20. Thaks Vern. I did verify that the FX end caps will fit onto an RS pipe (a future trooper came over tonight with his RS kit) Now, where do I get a pipe this size (2 3/4 o.d.) stateside???
  21. I saw trooper masters td's and money is really tight right now. A tube would be so much easier. This actually looks really close in size to RSProps. I wonder what they use since they include the tube with the armor.
  22. O.K. I know. FX armor? The garrison member bout this in 2007. She never bought a helmet knowing how bad the FX one is. She is getting an ATA in time but until then, I am helping her to build her kit with accurate upgrades. Anyhow, anyone who has built an FX kit knows the therm det is a two piece thing with built in extensions for bolt on belt clips. I want to get a piece of pipe for a more accurate looking t.d. The outside diameter need is 2 3/4". Anybody know who sells pipe in the U.S. In this diameter?
  23. Not a lot of small hobby shops carry the semi gloss or matte finishes in black. If one mixes equal parts flat and gloss, you will get the matte finish for the vocoder and the mic tips. What do think, Vern, I have kept a sheet of Trooperbay's decals for color reference, and I always need to add a touch of black to get the Testors gray to match.
  24. There should be no return edge at the wrist on the forearms anyway, so just cut the excess off at the wrist to improve the length
