  1. It might just be easier to find a natural piece of leather and use shoe polish for one side, no? I picked up a holster that isn't exactly canon, however the quality is real nice, and I figured I could modify it to make it more accurate later. Could you bleach the leather and then dye it the right hue without destroying the leather? BTW Gundamzepplin, is that a hyperfirm blaster in your holster?
  2. Having separate compartments is a big plus. I still was thinking about making separate bags for each piece of armor to keep em from scratching during transport. That would be the ultimate protection. No, wait,.. padded pouches for each piece of armor would be the ultimate protection.
  3. Ya know, after I typed that, I started to think, it probably would take a flight of stairs.
  4. It's unfortunate that so many of the nicer looking helmets/armor are so hard to come by or too expensive. I can only point out that hospitals aren't the only things with patients(patience). It might take awhile to save up and or find the contacts, but it's worth it if that's something you're really passionate about.
  5. You'd be surprised how sturdy a set of TE armor is. It's nowhere near as fragile as you might be thinking. Unless you fall down a flight of stairs, you're good.
  6. The dead give away is the shoulders and the position of the pistol in reference to the helmet, I'm certain now that it's a totally different picture. Just chalk it up as yet another reference pic.
  7. I like the idea of a possible ongoing series.
  8. The holster straps being cut like that is a nice touch. Good job.
  9. I for one can appreciate the effort in putting together a work of art like this.. I got your back T*E.
  10. Is it possible it's a lost pic from the same photo shoot? I'm pretty sure though just by looking at the pose, that it's not the same as the more familiar snapshot.
  11. I'd seen that short film before, good job. Now that I know those helmets were homegrown, it's all the more impressive.
  12. If there's one thing I love, it's cool thingamajiggers.
  13. I was hoping someone had a link to a reliable source that contradicted AA's claims. I'm well aware of the SDS site. It's still not completely clear who exactly sculpted the armor though, and where it states, and to what extent AA is claiming to have been a part of what's now been proven false. I'm always hearing alot of speculation and contradiction between claims on both sides of the argument. I know that most of the guys who have accepted the fact that AA was at least a part of the process are content with having a collectible with a significant lineage. Either way, you gotta admit the guy's got balls.
  14. I'd be interested in reading more up on the claims AA has made if any of you guys have a link.
  15. Regardless of the controversy, that SDS armor is still pretty nice. Personally, I enjoy putting my armor together. I actually take my time to savor the process. Once it's done, it's over, and I'm left wanting to work on another project and spend a bunch of money. Buying from SDS is like cheating. Kinda takes the fun out of it.
  16. I was going to mod my toy blaster just to have something to play with that makes noise. If I were on a budget, I'd be content to troop with a modded hasbro.
  17. So what if Jamie decided to just show up at a troop all decked out in armor? For some reason, the thought of this cracks me up.
  18. Nice custom work there Belakor. So has anyone made a holster for that little guy? or do you just feel compelled to carry it around with you just because it's so cool? "Who, that little guy?.... I wouldn't worry about that little guy." -Super Troopers
  19. I'd take a set of AP armor any day.
  20. That's what I was thinking too. This was a captured frame that was done just to test the quality of image I could get, when I noticed the colored difference in the straps. They almost look like a completely seperate type of material that attatched to the holster. I would also agree that it would appear that the straps were riveted or something to both the holster and belt. I'm going to try and capture some more frames later to see if I can find any closer, clearer images. This is the first time I've been able to capture frames like this so I'm pretty excited about all the detailed images soon to be in my archive.
  21. I noticed the holsters straps don't appear to be made of the same material as the rest of it. Anyone have any insight as to what the straps were made of and how they were attatched to the rest of the holster?
  22. These kits just aren't built for us real men. I'm 5'9", 180 lbs, and I my legs are just too big for my kit. You have to be a lanky mofo to fit in a screen accurate sized set of armor.
