Welcome Matt! As Glen says that post is updated as often as it needs to be. The armour situation is pretty stable at the moment and it's been a while since it's change so 2024 is plenty up to date. Make sure you take your time and read up, we're always happy to help you. A little work up front can save expensive heart ache later.

Altlhough the thread may have been started 16 years ago you may have missed that it is periodically updated, last in 2024 so it's pretty up to date, and that's in the first post. There is some research that goes into this hobby and yes it can be overwhelming, take your time, look through others build threads, you can see differences between makers, accuracy, durability, pricing is another thing to think about, as well as shipping. You will find information about tools, what other items are needed in the second thread I posted.
