  1. Hi Mario, I've been plugging away at this, and I think I'm nearly there. Here are three of the four areas that I've fixed: The trigger area has been difficult. There are several layers of filler and Bondo now, in this tricky area. The lines are gone, but it's a bit lumpy now. Is that acceptable (please excuse all the areas I masked off to get this done)? The area around the "S" has some terrain there . Also, I smoothed out the lines around the base of the selector switch.

  2. Thanks very much for allowing me in. I'm a new prospective member from Washington, D.C. I've gotten pointed to some good resources here on this forum, and I know I have a lot of reading to do. I'm working on it. I've had a rough experience getting started, first some time ago but mostly over the last six months or so. I made some mistakes when attempting to buy pieces for my first costume; when I first submitted for approval, I was told that there were no modifications that would get me to approval, and I was advised to get a costume that I had no interest in just so I could join a forum and get help. I'm glad that it seems like it's no longer the case that I have to actually be a "member" before anyone can talk to me. I had some very negative and unkind interactions at first, but I'm hoping that was an exception to the rule, and I'm forging ahead regardless. I'm trying to make sure I don't repeat that mistake, so I'm studying up and getting read up on the resources available here before making any purchases this time. I came here for that reason. The forum here is daunting, but I know there's a lot of information housed here. I'm not used to using a medium like this, so I also sought help on the Discord channel, which pointed me back to resources here. I am looking forward to eventually (hopefully and finally) getting engaged with people near me or others I can communicate with in more real-time settings, but I have not had luck with that prior to finding the Discord server.

  3. It should also be mentioned that depending on the supplier you can commission the build leaving you with just doing the final adjustments and fitting for yourself. This is the route I took because I didn't have the tools or the skills to build from the ground up. At the end of the day, building it yourself or having a commissioned build your still trooping once you get your approval and that is when the real fun starts! No one here is going to be anything but helpful regardless of which path you choose. You'll be in good hands here. Bart

  4. Since you mention it we do actually have a Discord. It's not the busiest place in the world but there's enough people there to be useful if you want it. As for what you build, I'd always say build what you want to wear. There's no point buying an IOC costume to join if that's not what you want. We're all here to help you, it's not real time but we can help. Many of use built with only these forums for help, some who've been around a bit basically built off of the CRL which I can't imagine being a fun task. Depending on what you buy, and we can help there, some one will have built it before. Even then all of the suits are basically the same from a construction point of view so other than a few idiosyncrasy's any build thread will give you a good idea on what to expect. Also don't feel you need to rush. Rushing leads to suffering.

  5. Went dark for a bit because we had our big local convention - and I got to debut Phasma on conditional approval! Full size photos here: Imgur Album A little proof that it was me in the costume edit: double posted the last image
