WAMPAS... in Europe!

Recommended Posts

I've been checking up on some armourers around the forums here, and noticed most of them are from overseas for me. Now shipping is a total female dog when it comes to big parcels, as well as the 20% on additional taxes I've got to pay for simply shipping it inside the European Union, not to mention the shipping rights. So basically I'm looking for tips on european (re)sellers of armor that can be trusted.

I recently found trooperstore.de and they sell a variety of armours I saw. Now I saw their name pop up at the German Garrisson forums, but my german's not up to par recently.

Anyways, I'd appreciate if any of you could help me on some decent armor shipped from the EU.

Thanks in advance and keep on trooping!

TM is from the UK, if I remember correctly.

Well TM advised me to check a seller in Germany (AFX) that could probably supply me with armour.

Still have to find the site though. Not quite certain if it's the www.trooperstore.de I found, but I made this post to check if there are any more Europe-based armour sellers I should take in regard when buying my armour.

Thanks for the input though, it's well appreciated :).

Forget Troopershop, he make a very bad quality armor. Take a look to Ebay UK, they are a few good sellers...

You mean the actual sellers on eBay? Well the thing is, most of them are auctions without a buy-now price. I just don't want to take the risk of either not getting it, or getting it at too high a price. Besides, I heard a lot of recasts are found on eBay. Basically all I want is plain FX to be modded and adapted, maybe some RT-MOD for accuracy's sake... I allready got a MRCE. And I heard TM stopped working on armor for a while, hence the question for any other (re)sellers of armour around the EU.

Thanks in advance and well... Got some tips on shipping etc.. so who knows.

Avoid Chimera sales / imperialarmour on ebay. Known recasters and their armour is of dubious quality to say the least.

www.trooperstore.de, Chimera sales, imperialarmour stormtrooper shop UK - all recasters. Depending on ur point of view - personally I believe that recasters are bad for the hobby; although not all share that sentiment.

I would hit up TM if possible for a set tbh.

alternatively, there are lots of Europe based troopers sellin up kit from time to time. You are certainly in the right place to look for one!

If u arent in a rush, wait for one of em - FS threads often come up here.

The only other 'official' armourers are US or Canadian based.

Hoe gaat het?

Well, I think you should look at the big picture here.

There is only one fan-made armour in Europe that I know of, TM (maybe there's more, but I don't know others.) The rest are most probably recasts.

So, unless you want to look like the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, you either buy from TM or an american maker.

If you buy from a reseller he'll sell you the armor with that 20% you don't want to pay. Either you pay for customs or the reseller does, but someone's got to pay...

You can also buy from AA/SDS, but the armour is pretty expensive.

You say you want an FX, is that because of some specific reason?

If that's because you're a tall/big guy then you have the option of an FX or an RT-MOD. As Nathan said, you can get one of those from time to time from actual Garrison members.

But don't look for a site or an eBay store, those are filled with recasts that will make you one soft tropper. :P

Have you tried contacting the Dutch Garrison?

They can surely help you find a solution.

Doei!

Hey there Dmian, thanks for your reply!

I contacted the Dutch Outpost, and the XO's been a good help so far. He also thinks the FX is a good deal. I could go with more screen accurate armour, but I am not sure if I will fit it without shimming. Also, I wouldn't mind modding the FX up to spec. Provided I get an How To Make An FX More Screen Accurate, manual. I don´t mind stylized, after all we´re from a galaxy far, far away and not on a set or workshop 300 miles from my home :P. My wallet, however, is very much here. Craftsmanship aside, I think paying over double just to get a screen accurate armor... Maybe when I'm 35-ish or got a bigger income, but not now.

So what's really 'wrong' about FX? Cos apart from the bucket, I think most of the things are in proportion? Maybe modding the 'bib' a bit... But apart from that, what's to change?

I allready got a MRCE that I'm willing to mod the heck out of. E11 conversion kit is in the mail.

Right now I just want to trod around in white, no person on the street who can tell the difference. Also, with the current TK-rate in the Dutch Outpost I don't think I'll stand out much with an FX.

I got:

Bicep: 15,35 inches

Forearm: 12,59 inches

Thigh: 24,4 inches

Length: 5'9" (finally got the inches and stuff right. It's 177cm)

Weight is 248 pounds, but most of it is tucked in the belly department (darn you coca cola!).

So if you say: wow ____ armor will fit you like a glove and _______ is much better than FX cos it has actual air that's been around the original moulds... I'll be listening ;).

If it's because FX leaves a lot of black? I got short legs and arms probably so I think I'll be fine in that department.

Well, off to work!

Take care and be safe you all!

Hey!

Well, basically you have (from bigger to smaller, if I'm not wrong):

RT-MOD: Biggest armor out there. Fan-sculpted. More accurate than a FX.

FX: Big armor. One of the firsts. Fan-sculpted. It's not bad, but the helmet...

TM: Fan-sculpted. Made to screen standards. Very nice armor.

AP, TE2, etc.: casts from original SW armor. More screen accurate armor out there. Better for people around the same height range than original actors.

Screen accurate armor is better suited for people around 1.75 ~ 1.80 m. but it can fit people shorter/taller than that. If you're taller, more black will be visible. If you're shorter, you'll have to trim it a little. If you're a big guy, you'll probably have to add a shim here and there.

Now, if you want a bigger armor you can either go with an RT-MOD or an FX, but in the case of the FX a better helmet is adviced (though you can get into the 501st with an FX helmet). I think most people out there uses an MRCE helmet (I've also read about people using AP helmets, or other helmets too. The key here is that the color of the helmet and armor must match.)

So, that's pretty much it. A good reference for armor and helmets is http://www.starwarshelmets.com/, go to the Fan-made section and you'll understand it a little bit more.

Again, keep following the advice of the Dutch Garrison (I believe that, even when they are called Outpost they have now Garrison status.) My Garrison (Spanish Garrison) helped me a lot, and I'd still be lost on a lot of things if it wasn't for them. :)

Cheers.

Prospecting for AP prices. TE2 looks too fragile for the likes of me. I'm quite blunt when it comes to storage of things :P. FX is still an option, as it's the cheapest option right now. But from what I've gathered I got the height for a screen accurate TK... I dunno. It's all in the price now.

 Well, that's true  .

Though I wouldn't dream of printing it out hehe.

Been haunting these forums for half a year now or so, and I did find some great topics on it.

Guess it's starwarshelmets.com referencing all over again :P.

Thanks for all the tips!
