Hello all,

I know we aren’t allowed to promote one manufacturer from another here, but does anyone here have experience with Denuo Novo’s ANH armor??? I’m looking at their ANH kit and helmet and would really appreciate some feedback and or other suggestions.

thanks!!!

If they are still using the same molds that Anovos used, then the kits are decent.

Some things that stand out are, the pulls are sharp, but on some of the larger pieces the ABS get quite thin and can crack easily.

The helmet faceplate is a very sharp pull, which makes it distinctive or easy to pick in a line-up compared to many other makers.

These are not necessarily bad points, just some that differ a little from other makers kits.

As you are learning, research is key in this hobby, so also take a look at some of the build threads for ANH armour which members place the maker or brand in the title.

There you will also find many opinions and get a better look at the parts both assembled and in pieces.

Thanks Sly, research is going a bit slow. My goal is to build a legitimate sand trooper, but I’d be ok starting out as a stormtrooper and eventually transforming into the more rugged and beaten but tough look.

I have the ‘avoid’ list, but finding a top 10 list is like finding meaningful acting skills in The Phantom Menace!

I have quite a bit of experience with Denuo Novo armor and the Anovos armor before it, and it happens to be my favorite of the suits available out there. It all comes down to what you want and value in a suit though, and every maker has its positive and negative points.

The new DN armor is thicker than the Anovos stuff was (especially the V2/3 runs with the copyright decals on them), so that's positive. It is definitely a "cleaned up" version of the ANH armor, so the details in the pulls are sharper and a little more consistent, but they did retain all of the correct dimensions and asymmetry that are the hallmarks of the character. I usually say that a properly built Anovos/DN suit more closely aligns with what people THINK/expect a Stormtrooper to look like, while something like an RS suit is much closer to how wonky they ACTUALLY were on set. I usually recommend RS to collectors for display, and DN to those who want to troop in their suits, as DN has made a few other minor concessions in accuracy to allow for a more durable and comfortable suit (things like a hard plastic lens, better helmet padding, velcro closure over bra hooks for the shins, etc). Note though that replacement parts are not readily available, and that shimming or expanding the suit for larger wearers is a challenge with matching the color of the plastic, so it's great... if it fits you. There is also a fantastic reference guide from Ukswrath available to assist with your build, and the suit has clear cut lines molded in that are about 90% accurate and make trimming a breeze. They also cut the coverstrips in advance for you, which is nice.

If it does anything for you, Anovos armor is what most of us that do regularly character performance work for LFL wear, and what more than half of us wore in The Mandalorian and Obi-Wan Kenobi shows. So yes, it's good armor and can easily be built to Centurion standards. If it's what you want. But that's up to you. Individuals can share their preference all day, it's just the actual detachment itself that is discouraged from promoting a particular brand.

Oh, and a final note - ANH helmets are out of stock at the moment due to difficulty in sourcing the plastic for them, and may not return until some time next year, per my last conversation with Mark at DN, so that's a consideration as well.

I've been trooping Anovos armour since I joined the legion. I'll agree with Justin in that I think it's a nice balance of accuracy and not looking too messy. Good to hear it's a bit tougher now, mines really starting to show it's age and I don't troop half as often as a lot of the SCG folks!
