TK-8687[TK] Posted July 20, 2025 Report Posted July 20, 2025 Finally got a kit a couple months back and it worked fine at receipt, but now with a troop finally breaking it in, it doesn’t work. There’s no way to charge the black icomm box right? Frustrating is an understatement. Am I SOL? these are pricey and would hate to buy another. No mods have been. Thanks for any help! Quote
Sly11[Admin] Posted July 20, 2025 Report Posted July 20, 2025 No way to charge it. The batteries they use don't always last very long, so many years ago I created a workaround for the device. See below 1 Quote
TK-8687[TK] Posted July 20, 2025 Author Report Posted July 20, 2025 (edited) I’ll be reviewing thanks for this! How do you open the box up? I’ve only had this 2 months and battery dead already? Edited July 20, 2025 by TK-8687 Quote
gmrhodes13[Staff] Posted July 20, 2025 Report Posted July 20, 2025 You may want to contact the manufacturer, I had mine for 2 years before the battery failed. The Icomm unit takes power from the amplifier and charges the internal battery, but when the battery fails it can no longer work. Using an eternal battey means you can charge at any time or even swap the battery when the charge is too low 1 Quote
TK-8687[TK] Posted July 20, 2025 Author Report Posted July 20, 2025 Will do. Thanks for the recommendation and mod tutorial. Quote

Once you unscrew that, you can gently pry up the circuit board to access the battery. I buy replacements at Amazon and always keep an extra on hand.https://a.co/d/gP8btJvSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Quote
kevin_kevin[TK] Posted July 21, 2025 Report Posted July 21, 2025 I've done @Sly11's mod on mine with this battery: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007173333563.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.11.57a81802P6vyNk Worked a treat for me, icomm was going strong at the end of my troop this last weekend. 2 Quote
TK-8687[TK] Posted July 22, 2025 Author Report Posted July 22, 2025 Have connected with Uks and I’ll be getting mine modded from him. I’ll report back once I get it. Thanks for the suggestions and recommendations everyone! 2 Quote
TK-2112 Posted October 14, 2025 Report Posted October 14, 2025 I found that if you leave a cable plugged into it, it activates the battery and it will drain it. Same thing happened to me, I bought it and it worked great, got it all set up and then stored it away but I left the cable plugged in. Not even a month later I went to use it and it was dead. Quote
