Question about helmet detail

I have noticed that different helmets have different number and or placement of the black painted lines on the ears. Is there any significance to which lines you paint or how many on each side?

kinda of question I wondered when I 1st started.

 

I would say not really. Most use 1 stripe to indicate the antennae, on each side, near the back raised bit. Either the last one, or the next from last raised portion.

Most of the helmets in anh had 1 black stripe on each ear, then for esb most helmets had 2 stripes on one ear and 3 on the other and i think the same for rotj...

In reality there is no rhyme or reason - only what looked good to the guy painting the buckets at the time.

I painted my black line a little forward towards the front so i could identify myself in group photos!
