Project : Shocking (Shock Trooper Build)

Recommended Posts

TK20187 from the Thylacine Outpost in Hobart, Tasmania , Australia reporting in and after 12 months of being a TK I now have a second kit to start building.

I love the look of the Shock Trooper and I've been the fortunate recipient an unfinished kit that is perfect to build as a Shock Trooper.

Looking forward to my second build.

Given the kit was already mostly trimmed I'll be using the butt joint and cover strip method for most of the assemble, the thighs being the only exception, which will be overlap.

I'll post more pics as the build progresses.a356209059c1dc5f78c14683e118fbbe.jpg9abcfe4c7efbcab18bc3b2d751fb1f58.jpgd5873ea283642b183e9a93e032651bc0.jpg734dbaf38c38b4708f322a253a34307a.jpg52cc329b28c0ce961037085569786d49.jpg

Starting the process of fusing the butt and kidney plates.

Removed the return edge off the top of the butt plate and bottom of the kidney to create a flat join, which will be connected via a couple of pieces of abs.79d44af5b7ab5bb6296ea3d5760b7140.jpgf550ede5e2e1f2f1667ff73786d15e59.jpgf654a9fee741cd34dafa1bd742a0a034.jpg

Gluing the return edges together and filling in some of the join would have been fine as the ROTJ style did have a mold line ;)

Looking great so far!  May I suggest updating the title or we can tag it with the type of trooper you are building? I almost thought this was an electronics build ;-)

Thanks and attempted to update the title, but it doesn't appear I can.

All good now Paul, had to log in on a PC, couldn't update via the Tapatalk app. Hopefully the title now makes more sense. :)

The right shin was a real pain, the cover strip kept separating when closing the back. After a lot of extra glue and extra setting time it's all good up front, with the rear strip now also attached.

I've also trimmed and started the process to attach the sniper knee to the left shin. Front glued, sides tomorrow night.c901d7b861839740a294d8f4718d527f.jpg

So to attach this bad boy I would have normally used rivets, but for the Shock Trooper there are no visible rivets. Thanks to my mate Nic, for the "Hot" tip, a hot water bath is now in order to shape the ammo pack. E6000 is good, but not that good.

Currently held on with clamps.212a84347de72e2e0dffa3bc1f33866c.jpg

Shock Trooper Shoulder Bells.

First time painting armor and I'm pretty happy with the result.

Shiny White > Shiny Red >> Battle Damaged Red

Just need to dirty them up with some charcoal once the paint cures.aee158b0b4097973863abf0c3ebe1fb7.jpg
