Aevith
Hey Tino, I adjusted the clearing strip. This better? I know it's a little high up but I like it this way. Made the strip 6mm. Dennis Blue Snaggletooth send me a reference picture and I took measurements from that picture. Will be adjusting the LED tomorrow and continue to work on my trigger group. Again thanks for the tips and info!
CableGuy[Admin]
Great job so far. That counter is especially tasty. :-) The thinner clearing strip looks good too. Keep up the good work. :-)

Aevith
Hi again, back with some more updates! Kept working on the inner bolt first. First layer of metallic paint was too bright so I started adding a quick shade from Armypainter I had lying around. Pretty happy with the metal/rust effect. Started working on the grip and trigger group again. I wanted to make the trigger group almost completely out of aluminium. Did not know how... So I just began with cutting some aluminum Had to try some different techniques and tools to get there. Some more successful then others Bending the aluminum in al kinds of angles. Finally after a few hours of work it started to look like something. Almost a perfect fit from the first try! And right on after the second try! Test fitting with the new cut trigger (made from forex/sintra 5mm) and a previous bent trigger guard. Did not like the old trigger guard so I decided to make a new one. Made a wooden dummy to bend the aluminum into shape. Some more aluminum bending was done that day and several meters of aluminum were wasted. Much better! After trying every DIY store nearby went to a specialized screw store. Finally found that screw I was looking for! Different angel of the trigger group. Decided to sand out the resin nut and replace it with a real one for extra detail. The selection screw broke a while back. I tried to fix it with some steel pins but did not really like the shape and was afraid the crack would still be visible after painting. So with some stuff I had lying around I tried to recreate a better one. Forex 5mm was too thick so had to be sawn in half. Used a spare nut for the screw part of the switch. The result after several attempts. Almost drove me nuts! Side by side comparison of the end result. Picture of the self made selection screw. Time to get some primer on this baby. Nice detail! Damn you little bubbles/holes! After sanding and priming the bubbles again, I added a black base layer. Finished result of my grip and trigger group // Part 1 // Finished result of my grip and trigger group // Part 2 // Finished result of my grip and trigger group // Part 3 // Finished result of my grip and trigger group // Part 4 // Started on the magazine tonight but will be posting that in my next update! To be continued
CableGuy[Admin]
Wow!! And WOW again!! That aluminium work looks SUPERB!! The gloss grip against the Matt black and the ali looks brilliant! Excellent work on that trigger guard, too. Looking forward to more updates. This is a lovely build. Dan
T-Jay[TK]
I totally second what Dan said. This trigger group absolutely rocks! - just like your paintjob. The result looks like factory-new spare parts. The slotted screw in your grip (LOCK/FREE) should be in the LOCK position.
Bulldog44[TK]
Wow. I have been asleep missing all this cool blaster build action. Job well done. That grip is a beauty . Gotta see this blaster finished.
Dracotrooper
Superb! My goodness. Some parts shiny, some parts looking really smooth! Not to far from the real deal I'm sure
Aevith
Hello guys, Been putting some work in my blaster the last week. Had some serious problems! But first some good news! Started the last sprint to the end... So I thought... Added filler to the added Magazine Housing. Front Sight. Rear Sight. Masked the inner bolt. And then the Foldingstock decided to crack... First layer of primer after some extra sanding. End Cap after first priming and sanding. Some finished pieces! Very happy with these guys! Metallic underlayer. And the Hammerite Hammerpaint nice and smooth. Some details. And then lightning struck... Everything went very smooth and I was down to the last Matt layer when a reaction between Hammerite and top layer happened. You can guess what happened next... Some very cheap nailpolish remover (without aceton!) seems to the job just right. Oh man... So much to get rid off... What a horrible mess! Meanwhile I was high as a frog! But even with double sight from the smell I could see I was getting somewhere! Folding Stock horror! Just keep rubbing! And here is where I am now. Smooth as a baby's butt from all the sanding and polishing. And ready to get primed again! Just cleaned all the pieces with degreaser and will be heading for a specialised shop tomorrow with a part to get some compatible paints. I'll probably won't be adding a hammer layer again, unless they can assure me that it will not give any reactions. I'm not sure what caused the reaction. Some parts had the reactions and parts like the Folding Stock didn't. I however decided to strip all the paint from all the pieces because the paint also chipped really easy from "well painted" parts. Frustrated as I was I was almost ready to throw it all in the trash! My 8-year old son however told me he thought it was very sad of what happened with the paint. He said I could not give up and have to become a stormtrooper! So I gathered all my courage and started rubbing that damn piece of resin... Glad I did! So I'll be posting again soon with hopefully a completely finished blaster! Keep you updated! Almost there! Dracotrooper
Feel for you about your struggles with paint - yet so close to the finish line ... your son is very wise and a huge source of encouragement, what a blessing. I suspect a lacquer based paint was applied over an enamel base paint. A very studious recovery Kevin, good on you - now for round two, you can do it!!!
CableGuy[Admin]
Such a shame about the paint reaction. It was really coming on nicely. However, I’m sure you’ll be back on track soon. Stick with it.
T-Jay[TK]
Ouch! Can only imagine what work you went through, when stripping off all this paint. Really sad to hear. Unbelievable cleaning work as your last picture shows. Almost nothing left from that mess. Guessing you have done enough fine-sanding to skip the primer and just begin with the first paint layer...
Aevith
Hey guys, I can finally say I'm done! After removing all the paint I went to get new paint. A full set of 3 cans -> Plastic Primer - Steel Hammer - Matt Black. This time there werr no problems with horrible reactions. I applied some light weathering because I hope it will get it's realistic weathering by trooping a lot with it. I hope you guys like the final result! On to the next build thread! Armor! Hope to see you guys following and guide me through! Verstuurd vanaf mijn SM-A520F met Tapatalk
T-Jay[TK]
Congratulations on finishing your first E-11 blaster, Kevin. Just re-read your thread and got to say, you went the extra-mile on so many parts of this build. Beside of that, the Hengstler counter is outstanding, the scope is fully hollowed/drilled through and has lenses. And your trigger group with the aluminum covers is one of the best I have ever seen! I really love it. Take good care of this beautyful blaster. I wish you a lot of fun with it while trooping.
CableGuy[Admin]
Stunning!! I really like the subtle weathering. As Tino said, the small details make all the difference and you've ended up with a top notch blaster.
