5'5" vs Anovos WIP (ESB wannabe Centurion)

Recommended Posts

I just got my EIB approval a week ago. Thanks to Andrew one more time.

-> http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/37618-tk-71715-requesting-esb-eib-status-anovos-595/

But you all know, after the approval is before the approval ;-)

So here are the challenges I have to accomplish, to be part of the Centurion ranks:

  • "The trimmed too short forearm coverstrips"
  • Fix the overall look of the armor (trimming and restrapping  the Chest, Back, Kidney, Butt, Shims)
  • Things not recognized right now

So to get started, I will first focus on what Andrew pointed out:

"the too short forearm coverstrips"

Here's the issue:

FISD_Mod_Forearms.jpg

For a fast and easy remedy I've got two options:

1. Remove the return edge and trim the high corners off the elbow end of the fore arms, or

2. make longer cover strips but still remove some of the return edging, specially those sharp corners.

I'm planing on a third option (I hope it's OK for Centurion):

3. Iron down the high corners and get the return edge aligned. Here some pics:

forearms_trim.JPG

But this option will change the overall look of the forarms a little. Is this mod OK when planing on going Centurion?

Please let me know if this is a "no go" for Centurion or not. Thanks...

Hello Kai,

1. Please go ahead and remove the return edge.   You don't need them.

2. Use a dremel (or your cutting tool) to remove the marked areas and blend it into the rest of the forearms.    This will give you comfort to swing your arms around.

Hope this helps!

You are on the right track, and you are not a wannabe, you are a goingtabe Centurion. We are here to help get you there.

It looks like this really worked well for me. I reironed the return edge to get them aligned.

Here are some pics (Left:before / Right:after):

I think I made a good job. What do you think ?

OK. Next up is the following objective:

Fix the overall look of the armor (Shins):

This one was an easy task. Just needed to trim some off of the bottom:

I decided to trim both sides, to keep the look and feel ;-)

I like the result:

Next step: optimize the overall look of the armor. In particular the chest, back und butt.

I had an awesome time at comic con Germany in Stuttgart. I had my armor on for almost 9 hours. No real issues while trooping. Not even armor bites ;-) <br>

So back to topic. Centurion is waiting :-)

Thank you Andrew. I do the best I can :smiley-sw013:

Here's one major mod I did before Comic Con.

It addresses the issue -> Fix the overall look and fit of the armor (Chest, Back, Butt):

I had a little overlap at the back:

back.jpg

and the chest could come up a little:

front.jpg

Here's the suggestion , Andrew gave me, to pull up the backplate a bit:

FISD_Mod1.jpg

But to get the Chest up a bit, I did a little test fitting and came up with the following mod:

Shoulder_Bridge_Trim.JPG

Red lines needed to be trimmed and the yellow one shows that I had to pull down the shoulderstraps.

With these changes I could pull up both, back and chest a little more.

But I also needed to trim down the top chest neck area, because otherwise it would be cutting in my throat.

1st step -> trim the Backplate (sorry no before pic):

back_final.JPG

2nd step -> trim the front neck area on the chestplate:

Before and after interior:

chest_neck_int.JPG

Before and after exterior:

chest_neck_ext.JPG

3rd step -> remove shoulder strap and trim shoulder bridge from the chestplate:

Top: Shoulderstrap removed / Middle: Chest cleaned / Below: Chest trimmed:

chest_shoulder.JPG

4th step -> get everything together again:

Top: before / Below: final chest:

chest_final_compare.JPG

When you take a close look at the inner returnedge of the neck area, you can see how much I trimmed off.

I'll try to make some new pics, me wearing the "new" armor. So you all can see the major change :jc_doublethumbup:

It's been a while since my last update. One thing I forgot to mention is I trimmed the lower return edge of the butt plate (sorry no pics , yet). Much better fit now :jc_doublethumbup:

Here's a comperison pic of the front. Left is before and right is after the modifications I made till now:

front_before_after.jpg

Only modification I still need to make at the moment is the fitting of the butt plate. But that really gives me a headache. It always slides over the kidney plate, when moving. Still working on this issue, to get it fixed.

And I also need to give the butt plate a hot water bath, to get it closer/tighter to my body(butt). Still peeking out on the sides

Updates coming soon (hopefully). I want my Centurion (add "Money for nothing" melody here)

I find my lack of updates disturbing

Well, currently I'm working on a Jawa costume for my youngest son....so my TK has to wait a little

Need to get back on track.

So here's my final modification. The Buttplate needed a hot water bath. The Sides stuck out to much.

But I could only pull in 1cm per side. Not much, but it looks better now:

Next thing I'll post are the application Photos for my Centurion Status....

Thanks to all who helped me out with tips and pointing me in the right direction
