Lights &/or Sounds for TFA Pistol & F11

Recommended Posts

I am in the process of getting the pistol and F11 printed. Looking to add lights and sound to both. Does anyone have details on how they did theirs? How are the lights supposed to work as in are they always lit up or do they light up with the pull of the trigger? Or do they stay on all the time and the trigger pull makes them flash? Any insight on how to do this and where to get the parts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Mine stay on all the time as long as the battery is connected. Others have a hidden switch built into their blasters.

I've yet to hear of anyone who has rigged their blaster up with sound effects, or lighting effects activated by the trigger.

Nice!!! I'll be implementing Chosendragon's panel idea as well.

Thanks. Do you have any info on how to create the circuit of the lights? Most specifically. I know the LEDs are more specific than regular LEDs. Are there rectangle ones to use or some type of LED filament to use?

I found a couple of light up toy Nerf guns and ripped them apart to get at the LEDs (which were already pre-soldered to their own circuit boards). The LED itself is a single lamp, but I cut up a white translucent plastic drink cup and glued appropriately-sized pieces of plastic across the vent holes in the mag well and ammo counter to act as light diffusers.

From there, I serially-connected a 4xAAA battery holder (hidden in the rear barrel of the F-11D and accessible by removing the end cap) and ran the wires through the hollow barrel and to the LED circuit boards mounted in the mag well and ammo counter.

As for the single light on the SE-44C, I haven't figured that part out yet. But I imagine you'll need to find a rectangular red LED of the right size, glue it in place, and mount the power source inside the pistol itself.

HAHA I did the exact thing for the officer pistol but used the sound boards also. Don't think the sound is accurate but whatever

I used the electronics from a cheap toy then added some highbright LED and jack to run to the aker amp.

Do you have any photo's of this setup?  Perhaps a report of how you installed it?

I absolutely admire your Nerf conversions, you made them look like in the movie! To the question which ligths to use one idea would be the (fairly new) neopixels. They are essentially all RGB and very small in size, they come in stripes such that they are all individually programmable. Makes it easy to change color, even on the fly. Your superb blasters and costumes really deserve appropriate electronics.

BTW, I also made a blaster trial using a Nerf: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DReCijuCF7A
