After picking up my kit I could not wait to get started, but had no idea where to begin. I had a few of the guys from the San Joaquin Squad to help get started and today I made my first cuts and even did some glueing.

Day 2:

 

Dry fitting the stripe on the bicep.

 

 

Dry fitting the Forearm strip.

 

Working the no Return edge on forearm (WIP)  i missed a few spots.

I would trim more of the return edge on the bottom of the bicep for a better fit and you don't need to show that much of the shelf where the finishing strip sets. Especially if you have skinny limbs.

That's much better, you could even go a bit more so none of the shelf shoes if it will still fit you.

Looks good, you can trim more of the return off the bottom of the bicep once the glue dries.

Do These need to Go Higher Up?

They look good. The longer your arms the lower they will sit. Probably just under the edge of the shoulder bells.

I trimmed the return edge just a little bit more and they go up about a half inch longer.

One last question before I glue the back of the Shin How does this look?

On the helmet face, either one of those lines on the side will be fine. You don't need to cut the top off the face in front. Your eye marks are good, just take your sweet time there. You will need a little more off in the tooth area. As for the marks on the cap you will need to take that line close to the rear of the temple trapezoid on both sides. There is a mold line that will guide you.

The shins should be all about fit. They should be comfortable without being too loose.

I would say wait for the helmet to be fully assembled before trimming the neck opening. This way you can remove only what you need to slip your head through and have a tighter fit around the neck.

Don't worry about the ABS flash, it will be hidden by the neck trim.

The helmet is coming along nicely, I really like the position of the brow. Knee plate looks good. Some of the detail is a bit funky, but nothing you can do about that.

Helmet Status:  I don't think ill ever be happy with the ears so I'm stopping for now before I screw it up.  It doesn't look too bad.

The ears look good, the left ear sits lower than the right. Lowering in the ear would help with the fit. The new holes would be hidden under the ear piece.  Trimming ears can be a pain, but you have done a great job.

To me, the left one sits higher than the right one (left and right are reversed on front pics).

 

But as Nick says to improve the fit of the left ear you could try to lower it down a bit. I think it should solve this side. The right ear is good as it is right now. Perhaps to close the front gap you could try to tighten the bottom screw more, or drill a new hole closer to the neck opening.
