Real Sterling WIP

Recommended Posts

Finally the Postman delivered the Sterling to my doorstep. Exept the weak Paintjob and a missing Bolt she is in very good condition!!!

The Paint came off when i wiped off the exessive amount of oil so i think ill repaint her later on.

The work to make it legal was done superb, exept two weldingspots, one on the trigger and one on the barrelscrew you cant see anything.

Its not cut in half and welded back together, wich i like alot.

Everything is moving smooth and easy.

So i cleaned her, cut the magazine and attached the Ttracks today.

Fitted the missing bolt and checked the fit of my used scoperail on my alublaster.

Unfortunately the rearsight on my alubuild is 5mm too far at the rearend, so i have to make an new one to fit the real scope and real hengstler on her.

I ll update as i go and i hope she will become a true beauty.

I was surprised how close my alubuild was to the original when i put them next to each other.

Here some pics, more to follow.

the holy grail!

only flaw is the trigger guard.

you can get another one via apex gun parts.

probably could get another trigger group too.

interested in some help?

thanx vern, i was about to order some stuff from apex gun parts for my alu build a couple of month ago but i think customs will give me some trouble.

i think the guard gives her the authentic touch wich a real one needs.

Nice to see that yours also arrived.

May i can ask ,which bolt is missing at your weapon?

Shame to see , that yours has so much paint missing. In that case i had a little bit more luck.

Yep same source! ; )

Since you cant spot the missing and exchanged bolt i must have done a good job.

I like the idea of repainting more and more. I ll make her really nice, including paintjob.

I got a very good price so its ok.

Ok, now i see it. Well should be an easy fix to make a c-lock pin in the stock.

Would look a little bit better maybe.

If you think on changing the trigger guard , here's the sterling manual if you still not have it.

Have the manual thanx anyway.

Will leave it for now. But maybe changing it later on.

The biggest issue will be getting new paint on the still softly oiled surface.

Cant find a good way to remove it all.

Any tips?

If you want to paint it , you can use this for remove dirt and oil:

http://www.loctite.de/cps/rde/xchg/henkel_de/hs.xsl/komplette-produktliste-teroson-29729.htm?countryCode=de&BU=industrial&parentredDotUID=productfinder&redDotUID=00114211910

Or if you want to restore the weapon as close as possible, you can go for this option:

http://www.ballistol-shop.de/Schnell-Bruenierung-von-Klever-fuer-Eisen-und-Stahl-50-ml-Bruenierung_B-S_310.html

But i would advise to ask a gunsmith for it.He also can tell you more about that method.
