Hero ab/cod split?

Forgive me if this has been discussed... but what am I seeing in this photo? Is it a hero kit with a split ab/cod?

 

Did they do that to fit tiny Mark Hamill into the armor?

Personally I think it's a shadow of some sort. And since we have a picture of Luke's armour in our reference gallery I can tell you for certain that they did not cut his cod.
