I have appoximately this much hair:

any tips for getting into the helmet?

I tried tucking the dreads into the neck seal, but it's uncomfortable, and i can't turn my head if I do that.

Right now i just sort of wrap it up behind my head, but it pushes the helmet backwards when I do that, so my nose os pressed agains the front. Which is also uncomfortable. :( Any tips, suggestions, or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Can you wrap it around and up rather than back? So that the front 'bulge' and back 'bulge are equal? Or use a hair net?

And no don't cut your hair off!

Well...I have this much hair so can't really offer much. I think the balaclava idea is a good idea though. :)

Wear a balaclava, like they did in the movies

That might work. Where can I get one? My search just gives me this:

That might just be because I'm hungry though

What Jim said :)

I think they originally wore them because of those 70ies hair styles :D

Juan (ionoclasta88) has a similar hair-do as you and the balaclava works just fine for him.

Yeah just try one of those balaclava things. These guys had lots of hair too...

Take it from a girl with lots of thick hair: balaclava.

And pull as much back as you can without distorting how the helmet sits on your head. I have no padding in the back of my bucket.

I like the "bigger bucket" suggestion.

And that's the bottom line, because LadyInWhite said so.

That pic is awesome! Are those costumes 501st approved?! If so I will cut my dreads and grow out a 70's afro.

Well, that certainly explains the minimal padding in the movie helmets :D
