Blaze replied to TK6294's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
oh noes the first picture has been "deleted" :L what part of the helmet cut you exactly and have you added foam or any sort of protection successfully to prevent future bumps and bruises? -
great job. the lighting also adds to the presentation.

Tube Stripe colors are confusing
Blaze replied to bluehickey's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
So it's like a sticker in that you peel it off and throw it away and replace it with a brand new one whenever you want to "change your colors"? I have a friend who does vinyl car wraps I was hoping she would hook me up with something cheap and similar, but since that's a long shot I'll PM you once I get my bucket You seem to have everything down to a science over there -
These where very informative and easy to understand. Kudos on a great job. You should make tutorials covering every type of armor and helmet build. That might save the newbies out there.

anyone know?

Tube Stripe colors are confusing
Blaze replied to bluehickey's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
ah I see. Yes I meant the static electricity vinyl stickers like the ones you stick on your car window, yes. I thought it was a single strip with the stripes painted on. doh! my mistake These are more like decals on a model car apparently then. I think I may invest in a second helmet once I get the first one pimped out with everything but the kitchen faucet Since I'm sure there are few troopers in need of pink stripes I might have to make them myself. -
Tube Stripe colors are confusing

I'd like to add hot-pink stripes to my bucket. Rules are meant to be broken I use a lot of pink and muted blue in my art portfolio. Those pink stripes mean I'd never be able to join my Garrison in most charity events, but life is too short and I just want to be happy. I wish I could use my armor to help others but the rules are in place for a reason, I suppose. Are the stripes removable? like can you reattach them like those window stickers? or do they use adhesive like regular decals, the kind that are pretty permanent once attached? -
Oh, I've been doing several sketches and diagrams and familiarizing myself with how most members are doing the strapping. I don't want to be unprepared for when my kit arrives I'm an artist too and I appreciate the detail that goes into making these amazing suits.

that's brilliant. I had been thinking stormtroopers needed more electronics and this sounds like a great new way to add them.

I'm guessing their armor is custom made and not anything the 501st is using. Has anyone considered finding out how the Disney armor is built and held together and making a blueprint for the rest of us to follow? It seems their armor holds up to almost anything, including dancing, without falling apart or flapping out of place. ------------- In this video (at 1:07) you see the forearm appears to be held in place by straps since it dangles. No foam in there?

I've had a difficult time finding topics I knew I looked at before. All I get is the "Sandy Brothers" thread or nothing at all.

That's good to know.

Interesting. I would like to know what the laws are in California and how they are interpreted in different cities, if anyone can find that out. I'm a little afraid of realistic toy guns, personally, for a lot of reasons, but I'd still like a blaster that goes "pew pew" and lights up.

Um...what about getting free-admission to the places you troop at? I can justify paying for the armor to entertain people and raise money for charity but I couldn't justify paying admission for each event I'm invited to troop at (carnivals, conventions, fairs, museums, aquariums, sporting events, theme parks). That would be cost prohibitive for me since I'm not made of money, unfortunately. Also, paying to work for free to promote other people and all doesn't sound all that fair. So hopefully those places let you go there for free with a buddy to carry your stuff on your troop day.

Yes did they kick you?
-
Does anyone ever give you free stuff when trooping? Have you ever received a freebie? (this includes free admission to places, tickets to ride stuff) Has anyone ever tipped you? (I know that's not the point of trooping but I also know a lot of people are pushy and insist a lot and feel bad if you don't accept whatever they want to give you. The tip could be then donated to a charity, of course)

Glasses (eyewear) and Helmet Sizes
Blaze replied to Blaze's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Wow thank you and to everyone that's given me tips so far, I'm taking a look at those helmets right now. Hopefully I can get just the AP armor and maybe an ANH to go with it. I'll start emailing~. The ANH has a seam down the center which I'm kind of concerned about though. If anyone else has any measurements or advice, chime in as soon as you can. -
