lol, had a blast at CV, sorry I didn't wear my TK but had to opt for the most compact as we took the train from Jersey so I brought my Shadow Scout. I only dressed up on Sat anyway, spent the other days havin' fun and being a fanboy.

Also found this awesome set, it even said "501st Approved" on it hahahaha (was actually a member being funny)

Oh, and Albin's first set of TK armor, that was very cool to see in person:

Here's my other zillion photos if anyone wants to check 'em out:

  2. Lou and Tray, I'm sure we'll see you guys over the weekend but if you can make dinner that would be sweet! My cell is 848-469-0477, I don't mind posting it in open - anyone else who wants to hook up or if you ever need me jot it down :P

And Tray, feel free to bring Adrianna Curry again, hahahaha (he got her to make an appearance at the Carida diner at Wizard World lol)

  3. What up Lou, I'll be seeing you there, Nicole and I are taking the Amtrak down Tuesday with an arrival Wed. morning. We'll be there until Monday.

I'll have to pop onto the ECG and Carida boards to see who all is going from there. We're having an informal NER meet up / dinner on Wed night, you guys are more then welcome to hang. You to Tray, I see your mug enough but it's always a pleasure hahahaha.

And for any FISD who I haven't met, I'll be there most likely with some Vader's Fist rocker shirts, so I'll be easy to spot :P

  4. lol, I was Neyo, the rest including Vader were ECG. The request came in from LFL and they only wanted Clones - we've been getting a lot of requests from them that way, I assume because the current "thing" is the Clone Wars

I'm not really complaining though, because I have the Neyo in my stable of costumes, which makes me eligible for these high profile events (this, Today Show, etc...), lol,

If they wanted TKs I'd be in the running with about 50 other NER/ECG guys and gals to fill like 8 spots hahahahaha...

  5. Nice cog tat Alex. I'm interested in getting one too. So what does everyone else have? Watch this thread turn into a "ink" thread

lol, ok - I have been getting ink for the last 19 years :P

I'm never going to stop, if I wasn't a cop I'd be completely covered head to toe, but as it stands it helps when I'm rockin' undercover (I'm a Detective at the moment). All of it has deep personal meaning, my life's trials and accomplishments, and is based on both Native American and Star Wars themes:

Started my right leg last week, going back for more on Monday. Gonna be a half leg sleeve tribute to my 5 year old nephew who died from Leukemia earlier this year...

  6. I'm pretty sure that's where I got my TK back in '06, but that's because I didn't know about these sites and couldn't get a hold of anyone in the Legion at the time. The armor is fine but as it's been said a zillion times above me it's overpriced.

I'm sure by now the guys have sent you contact info for makers in the Legion and on these boards, if not let me know I can recommend someone I, along with half my Garrison, have had great success with... ;)

  7. Got one a while back for my son, it's awesome to play with!! Everytime you take it apart or put it together it makes a different noise, and depending on how you have it assembled (you can make like half a dozen styles) it makes a unique blaster effect. It even makes noise when you remove the magazine and scope.

Son is 4, so fun to play with, but as is not really for our costumes. There is a couple of threads on Clonetroopers.net where members modded it to a full size rifle, but took a LOT of work (they came out nice though, and still makes noise)

  8. sorry to be yet another one with a size question, but I figured I'd throw it here instead of starting another topic... :P

I have a friend who wants to get TK armor, but he wears like a size 16 or some crazy number - do they make them that big? And I want to complete some armor for my girl and she needs size 5 1/2 in mens - do they make them that small?

If not CA Boots, is there something else I could use that you guys know of off the top of your heads? I'll begin mysearch of the net, thanks for any help to come!! :D

  9. For photobucket, it's very easy - first open up another window so you can have photobucket on one and the message board on the other (easy to transfer that way):

    In photobucket:

    1) go to the picture you want to post. underneath it is a box that pops up when you put the cursor over it. on the top left is a small box, with "IMG_3985.jpg" next to it (number is specific to your account). click on it. * you can choose multiple pics, but only the ones on the same page at a time.

    2) go to the very bottom of the screen, the blue boxes are now lit up. choose the one on the far right, "Generate HTML and IMG Code". click on it.

    3) it brings you to the next screen with options. for posting in these types of boards, go to the third box down, "IMG clickable thumbnails for message boards - recommended". highlight and "copy" all the text in that box.

    4) go to the message board, then simply "paste" the text you copied into the narrative of the post you are creating.

this makes the smaller, clickable thumbnail pics on your post, such as:

    th_IMG_2546.jpg

if you want to attach pics to email, do the same thing only use the bottom box that indicates "for email" or use the other ones for whatever else you are using, it's self explanitory (ebay, etc...). try to avoid the plain "IMG images for message boards" as they tend to come very big and sorta throw off the post, but that's only my personal opinion...

    hope this helps, :)

  10. Just wanted to say hi. I live in New Jersey and have been reading alot the past few weeks on the forum boards. So glad I didn't buy anything on EBAY before researching here. Hope to be purchasing from Deckard in the next week once I convince the wife it's money well spent. My four daughters loved seeing the 501st last year at the Franklin Institute during the Star Wars exhibit.

    Larry

Hey my man, I saw that you just joined up with us on the NER as well. Welcome aboard both fronts, going with armor from Deckard is a very wise choice. :D

Let us know when you get the armor and if you need assembly help!!

  11. Hey man, the armor came today. My son LOVES it!! He's only turning 4, so he will have plenty of years to grow into and use it, LOL. It fit fine out of the box, a few mods for a few pieces to size it for him and we're good to go. He couldn't wait for me to adjust a few of the parts, but here he is with most of it on. Thanks again!!

  12. So is the armor actually made from ABS? I was under the impression that it was made out of that weird hard vinyl stuff that Rubies makes their helmets out of. If it is ABS it makes it totally modifiable, just cut and re-glue to fit like buying any other used armor.

Hey saw the message before the post, LOL....

Yes, it's plastic, seems to be ABS and vacuum formed. I thought the same thing from the promotional pics, that it was the weird, heavy injected rubber stuff the helmets were made from, but it's not. And it's not as gosh awful as I thought it would be in person, but still not worth the price (in my opinion only) because of all the imperfections and mods you have to do. $1000 is steep for any armor, LOL...

  13. We recruited Tom over to our local 501st Garrison for some personal help...

He's a cool dude and came to a recent "armor party" where we were pulling Tie Helmets from Chris' original molds (waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay cooooool!!!!)

I had my FX suit, it's all beat up and ghetto at this point but we used it to snap comparrison pics with Tom's Rubies suit. Check 'em out (FX on left / Rubies on right. The helmets included and FX, MRCE & Rubies)...

*EDIT = Aaron fixed the link, see post #41 on top of page three if you wanna see the pics... :P

  14. Just look for me, I'll help you out... ;) I'll be there all three days.

Where do you live? If you are in NJ come join our local forum, you don't need to be an official 501st member to register and participate in our forums:

    http://www.501stner.com/members/index.php?act=home

If you are in NY, depends on what part. Check out Empire City Garrison, but I think you may have to have 501st status to register on theirs:

    http://www.empirecitygarrison.com/forum/

If you are in Pennsylvania check out Garrison Carida. They have a training section I think you can access without 501st status:

    http://garrisoncarida.com/

If you live elsewhere let me know I'll send you to the local forum.

As for going to the con, like everyone has said, just look for the 501st or Rebel Legion tables and let them know you are a member of this forum but haven't been accepted into the Legion, and that you are interested in same (if you are, LOL). We'll help you out.

As for changing, the ECG is the host Garrison, so they set the rules. Generally you have to be an official member of the 501st and registered as a volunteer with them to gain access to changing room. There are reasons for this, however we can still help you out. We can find a place to help you change if needed. I've been to many cons on actual troops and still had to change in the bathroom, so it's really not a big deal.

Is your TK finished? If so and you want to joing the 501st and need help registering shoot me a PM and I'll hook you up...

  15. Welcome to the FISD Tom. This is the best detachment to learn about TKs and beyond. Also, hopefully we will see you over at the Northeast Remnant.

For sure, I already sent him the link and Jeff should give him access hopefully by tonight. Welcome dude, you will find tons of helpful people here on FISD in terms of TK building, and Chris, Pat (posted above Chris) and I are all Central/South Jersey dudes who can give you some personal and hands on help if needed. Chris is an expert armor maker (sshhhhhh ;) ) who sculpted his own TK armor and helmet among other secret Star Wars projects - so he can certainly give you some armor making and modding advice.

The Rubies armor is going to be hard to deal with, and unfortunately I don't believe it's going to be 501st acceptable (if that is one of your goals), but don't get discouraged... it's a start and certainly great for what you were looking to do with it. Hopefully you'll come out to one of our events and see what the Legion is all about. You don't have to be an official 501st member to come and hang with us, and it's a great way to meet other Star Wars costumers and see how cool the charity events we do are, and how much fun it is to troop. If you are looking to join the 501st officially we can certainly help you out... :D

  16. Potential or interested members should simply reach out for the 501st Garrison that is in the state they live in. Get onto the local boards, meet some members and get some great advice, including some good armor sources and who you may want to stay away from (Rubies  ).

We always try and recruit and encourage people on boards such as this to come on over and join our forums as well. Specific sites like FISD (for TK) or BSN (for TB) can offer better and more specific tips and advice on whatever costume is their specialty, but local forums are better for getting personal interaction and finding an actual 501st troop that will be near you and you can attend. Meeting members in person and seeing costumes first hand is the best way to get motivated and learn some things. Plus, we have "Garrison Days" every month, where we get together and work on costumes or other projects, and we encourage new members to come and join the fun. :D

And if you have a costume or have questions you can contact the local GML (Garrison Membership Liaison), as most of the time they are the ones who approve or turn down the costume you submit (some costumes go to the Legion directly). They will be able to tell you what you need or what you need to fix.
