  1. In case anyone needs help with this in the future, the 1/2" long screw worked awesome and it came together very well. Again, the reason for the lock nut (nylon insert) is so it doesn't loosen when moving the parts around - taking on and off, storage, etc... but can still be taken off if needed. :D

If you check out the entire "TK Build" section you'll see how I put everything together. I was doing this for my buddy and simply used mine as a template. I have a complete "how I did it" thread on our forums with explinations of everything I did to try and help some of our new members that are assembling their armor, so some pics may not make sense without the explinations.

Some of the stuff is held with velcro or hot glue as a temporary assembly, so he can wear it until we have time to custom trim and taper stuff. Sorry about the rivets for all the elite guys, LOL, we rock hard down here and I have a ghetto assembly shop (dining room table and scrap wood)

  2.:lol: Sorry guys, sometimes when you are putting it together you just assume everyone is right here with you and knows what you are talking about.

I'm attaching the plastic belt to the ab plate. The belt comes in three pieces = one goes across the front with the molded ammo boxes, the other two are clean abs rectangles that go on each side and connect in the back. They are connected with screws and "lock nuts", which are nuts that have a nylon insert to keep them from coming loose if you move the parts up and down.

    Here's my belt, the front:

I have to admitt I'm an idiot when it comes to hardware sizes, I usually just bring the item to the store and match it up in the aisle. I don't want to take my belt apart so I was wondering if anyone knew the size off hand, like 1/4" bolt or 3/16" or whatever, LOL...

    Thanks!!

  3. BTW, That avatar pic is AWESOME you I assume, a Gamorian TK, what could be tougher!

Ha, thanks. Yeah, that was me rocking my original 80's very hot very rubber mask I had since I was a kid. I was just playing around one day and threw it on to make my son laugh, and later thought the pic came out pretty cool so I kept it.

It's in my armor bin and I actually threw it on for a few minutes at WWE earlier this year, because we were trooping with the coolest most BA Gammorean I've ever seen (from Indiana Garrison). It was kinda neat for some quick pics but after about 15 min I almost had heat stroke, LOL.

I wanted to wear it to the Pottery Barn event today, but was unable to get some padding in due to busy work the last few weeks...

  6. My three year old son rocks. I'm sitting here watching this and he comes over, hops on my lap and goes "he's backwards!". Three years old and he knows this... :P

Oh and he LOVES the "weapons test" video too, I have to play it ten times a day for him...

  7. I ride a BMW motorcycle and write tickets.

    I smell bacon :P

As for me, I worked as a manager in a comic book store through college (which explains a lot of my geekness) but once finished scored a job in law enforcement, which was my goal. Twelve years later I have made Detective and am enjoying the work more and more every day... it really is an exciting job, especially in my area :)

  8. Hey all. I work as a project manager and estimator for a decent sized construction management/general construction firm. We build and renovate the casinos in Atlantic City, NJ. I used to do excavation work on the side, but now spend most of my off time making molds and vacuum forming.

And many of us are thrilled you quit that excavation nonsense to do something more productive, how else am I supposed to get so many cool costumes!!

  9. Me first!

Dealing with Verizon call center ---> :6:

My goodness I have developed a deep seeded resentment of "automated" help lines because of this. :angry2::duimomlaag:

That said, it is still a step up from Cablevision in my area, and I'm very happy with Fios and the actual product :P

  10. wow!!!!! i finished my legs and got my boots so today i went out for my first public appearance. it was AMAZING. i just walked up my block and back and like 8 people stopped in like 5 minutes. i got my picture taken a video taken an ice cream truck and like 5 other cars stooped or beeped, and a car with two girls stopped to talk to me. it was amazing. haha

Glad you are done, get the photos submitted to gain "official" status and wear it out at one of our upcoming troops :)

We have a lot coming up...

  11. Can anyone help me here? I just changed my email and accidently did it on this site instead of over at the passport.clonetroopers site. Now I'm locked out of BSN and for some reason Blizzard Force as well. I tried the help dest at passport but after three days still have an open ticket... :duimomlaag:

I have the same username everywhere I am, and changed my email

  12. Hey Pat,

Did you ever make it over to the NER forums? If you live in NJ and are going to eventually join the 501st you should come over and register with us. You can get some good advice from local guys and gals, and I'm sure you can even find someone in your area to meet up with in person if you ever needed help with the costume.

    Northeast Remnant: http://www.501stner.com/members/index.php?

Once you register check out the upcoming events threads. We have a TON of charity events coming up and if you are interested in doing an event with an organization and would like our involvement there is a place to post the request and we have Charity and Event Coordination Officers to look into it :D Plus there is a chance we have already done or are planning to do an event with an organization you are looking at...

  13. We always have "spotters" who are members out of costume. They act as eyes and ears for us as it can be very difficult to negotiate unfamiliar terrain at times, plus you can't always see the little kids or people trying to get your attention, whether they want to say hi or take a picture. They can also spot parts of your costume that either fall off or go out of place (can't tell you how many times I lost my thermal detonator before I finally riveted it :P )

I usually keep my belongings in the tub, as long as it is a secure area, or leave them in the car. Most events you really don't need anything. For cons I do the same, again you don't really need anything while you are in costume, but you can get a laynard with a small pouch to hang around your neck. If done right the chest plate will keep it hidden and you can keep a cell phone or key or some cash B)
