  1. Vern, I was thinking of putting the pieces on a pvc tube. It would be less prone to breaks and chiping than resin. Yea or Nea? Andy
  2. Vern, Did you know about this. http://www.wlawarehouse.com/store_front/sterling/sterling-receiver-factory-seconds/ Andy
  3. Vern, I think Apex or another vender has the pars prepped and cleaned. I was thinking of going this route I worry about BTAF Laws? Can anyone explain in "Sterlings builds for Dummies" how to build a Sterling Mark IV with a parts kit that would be acceptable? Andy
  4. No problem. This will be a "BIG HELP" to our community! Do you think that you could create a stencil for the "Traps" "Tears"? Andy
  5. Al, Very Impressive! What did you use for the two middle metal pins? Andy
  6. This is a work in progress. I still have to pick up the French Blue paint. For the tube stripes on my helmet I am going to paint them on. The more and more I thought about it and looked at my decals I thought this is going to be harder that I thought. I was thinking maybe I should make a stencil and go from there. For the stencil I went to the craft section in Wal-Mart and bought blank Stencils. You get 3 sheets for a couple of bucks. The other accessories I used are, my “Fisher Space pen”, tape, cutting pad, scissors and xacto knife. I first taped the tube stripes from the AP kit to the back of the Stencil so it stays put. Then I used my “Fisher Space pen” to trace the outline of the stripes on the stencil. The “Fisher Space pen” writes on any surface. It is a well worth investment. The process is tedious. Take your time. After the stripes are traced, remove the decals from the Stencil paper. Take the Xacto blade and carefully and slowly cut out the “Tube stripes” following the pen marks and indentions that were made when tracing. When finished, use the scissors to cut the stencil from the paper and remove any remaining pieces. When cutting use judgment and leave space on all sides so there is room for the tape to hold the stencil on the helmet. I showed the results by putting the “decals” under the stencil. When ready, place and line up the Stencil on the tube of the helmet, then tape it so it stays put and then paint. I hope this helps out those who want to paint the “Tube stripes” instead of using the decals. Andy
  7. I just obtained two real Henglester counters. An Eagle "Type 400" and a “Type 478”. I have put all three side by side with a Resin one and took pictures for comparison and a reference. The difference between the “400” and “478” version that I notice is that the “478” does not have the Eagle logo, the two digits on the end are the same black and white as the rest of the numbers. Also there is a screw on the top. Besides that they are basically the same. I know there are metal sleeves. The sleeves I have are plastic not metal. I have to cut out the “400” one so the eagle shows. What do you think? Andy
  8. I have the same problem at work. It hangs and says that I can not connect? Andy
  9. Nice pic! I saw the F22 Raptor at the Air Show here in Pittsburgh. I was in awe what it can do! Andy
  10. Terry I am working on a template for my Helmet tube stripes myself. I went to Wallmart and bought a stencil paper. I am tracing the lines on it and using a ceramnic cutter to cut out the lines. I think that a "Tube Stripe" stencil is an EXCELLENT idea. Andy
  11. Try these sites. They can ship them to you. Andy -----
  12. Forgot to mention. Make sure you line the AP forarms at the front. Glue one side at a time. Let sit for a day or two then do the other. Make sure you you use tape and clamps. Andy
  13. Before I "But seamed" my AP forearms together I taped them together with "Blue Painters tape and tried them on with my black "Underarmor" top to see how the fit was. This way you can see if you need to add shims. Also, Some people glue one side of the forearm and use velcro on the other. I used a "15 mm" strip on mine. I first had wider strips then I removed them and cut them down to "15 mm" Your choice.
  14. Hello, Here is the Humbrol Paint conversion chart from their website. ----- Andy
  15. That what I was afraid too. I was wondering if you can spray the black rubbery paint that some people spray on the inside of the helmet to make the resin stronger? I have not used that yet? Andy
  16. Terry, As usual very detailed. I will be using this when I start on my pipe kit. My biggest worry is is some of the pieces breaking after use. E.g. Inserting and removing from holster and accendential bumps against walls, drops, counters, etc...
  17. I had this figure with the others as well. How many times I would play with them. If I could remember the holster was a piece of black string. By looking at the figure I wonder if this is where the FX helmet looks came from? Andy
  18. My feelings the same! Also, by having the picture books trading cards, magazines looking and reading them. The images stuck into my head. Also Star Wars was one the few movies that you kept going back to see again and again.
  19. Jessie, The Hockey suspenders are a excellent idea!!!! The 3m plastic hooks I may frown upon. The reason why. I use them during Christmas time to hang up green garland around the house. Sometimes the hooks break. Imagine if the hooks break during a troop? Joanne frabrics or Michaels sells fastners like this parachute buckle. http://www.joann.com/ Andy
  20. Rolf, IMPRESSIVE.......MOST IMPRESSIVE my Friend!!!! Andy
  21. I got mine E6000 at Joanne Fabrics. Here is an alternative to snaps. I have the screws and snaps that go on a Hockey helmet. I am using those for the snaps. It is adjustable. Andy
  22. Michael, I am proably going to order a parts kit and a defect sterling from the place you mentioned. I want mine to be a Dummy non firing model. Will the original front and end cap fit? Andy
  23. Looks GREAT. It needs the power wires from the cylinders to the counter. Andy
