  1. Other than cleaning off marks/scuffs on the paint; how do you make it SUPER shiny? I saw a post on here or another forum about using something from meguiars called "cutter". Has anyone else seen this post? and could you steer me that way?
  2. Um, "doopydoos" seems to be the most easily accessible conversion kit for the Kenner blaster. I ordered one and it was shipped surprisingly quick. I'm satisfied with the quality too.
  3. They do carry the Dremel brand. I just looked it up on their website. Several models starting at $30.52. I don't have a Dremel brand rotary tool. I have a Black & Decker I picked up at Target, works great and I can use the Dremel attachments/bits.
  4. Great job! I remember growing up I had a AMT/Ertl AT-AT kit. It came with a scaled snowspeeder too. Its boxed up somewhere in my house.
  5. Stormtrooper is seen on the latest episode of How I Meet Your Mother. One of Robin & Barney's biggest arguments is about Stormtroopers. Robin called his life-size TK statue a "Storm Pooper". Did anyone else see this? The bad side though is that it was a Rubies version.
  6. Yeah, I think you're crazy! j/k Good luck, if this is something you really wanna do then go for it. Use this website/forum as your primary reference & ask plenty of questions. If you not after 100% accuracy BUT still want to be accepted into the 501st it looks like a FX kit is your model/goal. (At least that's what it looks like to me from my observation). Just please . . . make it better than those pictures of the armor from that trooperarmor website. yyeeesshhh!
  7. From a TX to another TX, great job. It feels good to be a TX, not many around. It can get tiring when "uninformed" people start calling you Darth VAder or a Tie Pilot. Yeah, I know what you mean by not much posting over in the Spec Ops forum. So that helmet is the painted ATA?
  8. I'm with you on that. I'm starting on my ATA kit and the helmet will be the last thing I work on. I did start trimming it though. Question on your helmet: Did you get some extra flashing clumped on the sides of your face plate? Mine's did. It might be hidden once I get the ears on but I may have to sand those clumps down.
  9. you did a great job. My add-on kit just came in tonight.
  10. Doopydoos add-on kit came in today. It arrived rather quick, wasn't expecting it. I picked up a holster from a fellow 501st member too and that came in as well. Began with chopping off the muzzle and cutting down the scope. As far as the armor, tonight I started putting together the left arm piece as well as finishing up both biceps. This build is WAY more challenging than my FX was, by far! I supposed I'll be getting more done in the nights ahead now that baseball is officially over for the season. Those darn Yankees!!!
  11. I've pretty much looked at everyone's ATA builds that I could find and quite a few of them have left that lil gap in the back of the right thigh. Some TDs have made it to MEPD with that gap. Its in the back of the leg, who the heck is gonna be looking close enough to notice that?
  12. Yeah its GOOD enough to troop in. I'm still in the building stages with my ATA armor.
  13. Good job Andrew, looking good so far. What else are you working on/planning on doing? I'm a skinny trooper too. I did some trimming to the chest and back pieces. I'm shorter than most too so I took about an inch and a half off the back. Do you still need boots?
  14. Thanks for the suggestions naatsirhc & kevster. Another route I was thinking was cutting the back of thigh so that the finishing strip went ALL the way down the back. Filling in the gap/misalignment that is there. What do you think? Would this miss up any "accuracy"?
  15. Starting to trim/test fit the thighs. What do I do about this? The bottom edge doesn't line up. I've seen someone else with the same ATA kit trim the back like this I guess this is my route. Has anyone ever filled up gaps with bondo or other type of filler material?
  16. If you JUST need the battery pack, they sell those at Radio Shack. I have on that holds 4 AA batteries. Radio Shack has them for all sorts of battery types.
  17. Forget the gun, I'd like to pose with you! @ femtrooper_julie. haha
  18. At work! While everyone else is at lunch. I'll do some trimming at my desk. Might as well be productive during my breaks. During the trimming stage, half the time its done by utility knife/hobby blade; the rest is with a dremel. I like the dremel because I feel like I have more control. I'm too nervous with the blade, I don't want to apply too much pressure and have the blade cut where I don't want it too. That and the idea of slicing my hands and ending up having to get stiches. I worked at Home Depot long enough and cut myself quite a few times while there.
  19. "but his would take a lot of work that I'm not sure I could do." IMHO, part of being on this forum and suiting up with the armor is the pride that you have that YOU put it together. It can be tough, trust me I know, but that's what this forum is for. There is a TON of info here to help you put together a set of armor or help you in your decision. I just got a set of ATA's armor and a lot of blood & sweat will go into this. BUT it'll all be worth it. Good luck in finding a ready-made, wear-out-of-the box set of armor. My 2 cents: don't get rubies. If you want the respect of people who know good armor, please don't get it. It it NOT accurate. If you want a "Stormtrooper costume" go right ahead. BUT if you aspire to join the ranks of the 501st, forget about it.
  20. Great job with the armor. I'm gonna go for EIB too on my first TK armor. That's how WE represent Stockton, hahaha! Contact Scott with the Central California Garrison. He'll help you with getting setup with the 501st! We could use you in the Christmas parade coming next month in Modesto.
  21. I LIKE the last pic. Well, done. Good job. You look great with the full TD accessories.
  22. They had them at Macy's. They had the Star Wars hoodies too. They probably have em on their website also. I bought two other ones from the Marc ecko website. They were on clearance too.
  23. picked this up tonight at the mall before another nightly trimming session. There were a couple cool other designs but I had to get this one.
  24. I got one of those too recently. What's your take on the area of the helmet where the mic tips go? Rather thin don't you think. How did you/are you going to reinforce that area? I know I read a post some where on this forum about using cloth saturated with krazy glue or using epoxy putty. I have leftover putty from my Fett helmet which I think I'll use.
  25. How do these work? I mean, is there a closure on the back of the neck or is his style like a neck piece you simply put your neck through like the top half of a turtle neck. They do look awesome!
