I'm not sure why anyone would spend $300 for this.
If you wanted a HIPS set of armor, get the ATA set. It will include the lenses, brow and neck trim, and mic tips! Plus none of the cracks in the helmet. By the time you buy all those extras yourself, you would have been money ahead on a set of ATA.

Seriously, other than having a black interior - what would be the advantage to having the black hips that still would be painted gloss black?

be sure to use some sort of deglazer first to remove the old oils. I used mineral spirits. could use http://www.shoetreemarketplace.com/Meltoni...rer_p/10041.htm if you want official stuff.
Then use meltonian new life color spray. It worked pretty well.

correct - TKboots in the middle on the above pictures.
Darkside trooper boots (by Dan111h2o) are on the left.
My self painted chelsea boots are ont he right.

You are welcome, I am glad to actually contribute something of value... I have learned so much from everyone else here about so many things. I suspect someone else would have posted sooner or later, as it sounds like these were just acquired by the seller. Thank goodness he is so good at communication, even after you have sent paypal!

Here are some comparison pics:
Darkside trooper boots (size 12) on the left, TKboots (12) middle, painted chelseas (12) (johnson and Murphy's) on the right.
I wore them for several hours around work. They fit well to me. I wear a 12 or 12.5 in most shoes. The TKboot 12 fits well. I would say the width is normal, certainly not wide but NOT narrow. The Darkside are definitely wider.

I am wearing mine at work today - got a few funny looks.
Mine were shipped by USPS priority mail Friday, arrived Monday.

How do they fit? Do they run big? I am a 8 1/2 U.S. So I need to know if I should go with a 8 or 9?

I am going to say they run right on. I ordered a 12. I usually wear a 12 - occaisionally 12.5 in some shoes. they feel great on me. Being leather, I suspect there may be some stretching, if so, I can add an insole---- these are perfect for me!

What do you do-- just e-mail the guy and tell him what you need and he sends you back a paypal address or credit card information or what?
send him an email, tell him what you want, he will send you the total for your requested goods... then send paypal.

Got my USPS priority mail tracking number this morning!!!! looks like a Monday or Tuesday delivery to Iowa (as long as the tractors don't slow down traffic too much, it is harvest season you know)

If I had not purchased twice from the same seller in the past, I would be skeptical too. I agree the site looks a little odd.
I will post pictures, and review as soon as mine are in. ( I have no association with the seller, other than a repeat satisfied customer).

first difference is the material - AP is ABS. ATA (at least for now) is HIPS. HIPS must be painted, and is a little less durable. Details are felt to be sharper in HIPS. I have one of each. Like them both for different reasons.

anyone attach elastic to the shin pieces in a stirrup style band that would course under the foot to keep the shin piece down?
Mine seem to rise up too much, I have attached velcro to the boot - it restricts the bending at the ankle too much.
