  1. OK - Time to get at 'er. I'm taking a mental health day today, and plan to spend it on my armour. I'm going to glue some cover strips and hopefully get my belt and gloves done too. I've cleaned up and relocated my work station (my wife wanted the dining room back LOL) so I am now in the family room. I'm going to put Solo on the screen to start and get to work. Wish me luck, and watch for posts! Thanks again to everyone for your support. I'm already planning to make a build guide for future troopers with all the questions that I had and advice from all the mistakes I have made and will inevitably make moving forward!
  2. Yeah. I'm fortunate enough to have made friends with Twosolitudes (Rob) who only lives about 10 minutes from me. He showed me his kit, let me try on the helmet, all before I had even gotten my stuff. He showed me that you had to put it on sideways. I don't think I'll be able to get it on with my headset, so looks like I will take the plunge and shave some off.
  3. Thanks. Yeah, there are SO many images. I've seen others who went 20mm on the arms and got Centurion as well, so... I'll work on centering it better. It's not really a build until you've ripped off some E6000, right? Also - Is it common to trim a larger opening in the bucket? Mine's SUPER tight going on since the S Trim went on. Hopefully I have enough S trim if I do enlarge it.
  4. So, I did my first cover strip for the right forearm, at 15mm as per directions/consensus. Here's what it looks like. Is there too much showing? Should I go to 20mm? I'm after Centurion so I want to get it all right. Thanks!
  5. ROFL to whoever changed my post to read "slave Leia". Nicely done! FYI original was a stolen quote from Patrick Rothfuss "The Name of the Wind" when Kvothe enters the archives for the first time after having his ban lifted.
  6. Thank you sir! I hadn't seen firm on the thighs other than to have them match up vertically with the strips on the lower legs.
  7. OK... Forearms and biceps are trimmed. I was nervous as a new slave Leia on the first cut. Can someone confirm cover strip sizes? Front of shins/thighs- 20mm Back of calves/thighs - 25mm Arms - 15mm Once I get those confirmed I can open a tube of E6000! Thanks
  8. Exactly the answer I was looking for! Thanks!
  9. I think I like the elbow end better. Looking at the builds there are 11 indentations on the outer forearms. If I trim the way I have mine taped, it will take one of them out.. LOL Bud - I meant as opposed to cutting the entire circumference.
  10. This is from Bud Spaklur's build. It looks like he trimmed the elbow end at a sharp angle instead? https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/applications/core/interface/imageproxy/imageproxy.php?img=https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180811/8a6a57d0336197a0f141bb0ed3d7d1c6.jpg&key=1867342ad674a374a8b058f788359dd68719e42ec121f20fe368ebc942efa86a
  11. Hi everyone... Time to get back to work. Holidays are over, was gone to the Dominican for a week too. The bucket is GTG and I have done the repairs to my blaster (Functional selector switch is in, real steel Sterling SMG trigger is in, "green stuff" filling is in and ready to be sanded and painted. After that I just need to do the counter (I made a lens and have printed #'s for the counter as well). I started some very basic examination of the rest of the armor and I have mocked up the forearms. Question: The inner forearm pieces are significantly shorter than the outer, and I was advised to trim the wrist end. I've lined them up and taped the line to cut. Am I on the right track?
  12. Mark from AP is sending me another set of the stripes, $5 inc shipping. I'll redo them with fresh decals so they're as close to perfect as I can get them.
  13. Not sure why but once again it's telling me I can't paste pictures into a thread. Says I am down to 10kb allowed.
  14. I have 51 different beers in my fridge ATM, so you be the judge :)
  15. Oh crud, but at least it isn't glued yet. Looking at the photo below, I attached the slot that the red line is pointed to and the green slot is hidden inside the helmet. Please tell me that's right or I am going to need to buy more beer.
  16. At least the S Trim stayed on this time! I need to glue that today.... Once I get home from work that is. I'm going to order a spare set anyways JIC.
  17. Moved them up, 1 at a time.... tape trick didn't work sigh.
  18. LOL thanks all. I sent Mark from AP an email asking how much for just the blue sticker set. He's in Canada as well so shipping on something like that should only be about 75 cents. I was doing some quick test fits on the armor and it looks like there won't be much trimming needed. 5'9" is kind of ideal I guess.
  19. Yeah I am going to order a new set of the stickers and move them up.
  20. OK so above you can see the helmet with the brow raised. Upon closer inspection yeah the stripes are a bit low depending on what trooper you look at. Below you can see the ears drilled for the countersinking of the screws.
  21. Mother f***ing s trim proof photo.
  22. Yeahhh...the S trim fell off... Didn't glue it, sigh. I have pics but I need to find a spot to host them as I am out of room on here apparently. Getting IMGUR set up now.
