  1. Wow thanks for all the great replies! Still very new to the whole TK building. Ever since I was little I wanted a trooper suit. Always was eyeing the Rubio's supreme as the "holy Grail". Boy was I wrong.
After reading and looking around here I'm pretty sure an AP kit is the way to go for me. I've never done any cosplay building so it will be a venture for sure. The real trick is talking my wife into the process. Any advice? Lol

We can help with the putting together. The rest is up to you! Lol
Seriously though, I made sure we had the money and the use of it wouldn’t totally screw our finances. I estimated $2k for the project and came out under that even with a few mess ups. But I knew if I used all of it I’d still be getting groceries for my family. Then I went on to the fact that it’s a charity thing with the added benefit of a cool Halloween costume (can’t overlook the obvious). She was all for the TK and the TB took some talking into, I’m gonna hold off on a third costume for now. Trooping has been great for my kids, my oldest two both girls 12&10 have costumes themselves and come with me when they can. My son who is 8 wants to, but he’s not quite there yet in terms of maturity. My wife has no desire to do any of this but will come and see me with my son when she can. Just be honest with her and hope for the best.

  2. First off with posting pics some people use a third party like imgur or tapatalk. I’m sure there are a few more but you get the idea.

As for the armor maybe it’s me but I’m confused where you want to trim the arc. At the wrist or elbow? I’ve seen it done at the elbow and I’ve also seen some people leave it uneven. I’m fairly sure if you look you can find examples of both within the original movie.

  3. Welcome aboard. Definitely check the getting started area. Other then that it’s a breeze, you’ll be fine there are tons of people here that can help. As for armor there are a few different makers and ones for traditional size people like in the movies and ones for people taller/heavier. The list of vetted sellers will help and you can’t go wrong with anyone on the list.

This was a troop for special needs children and adults that can’t go out on Halloween for various reasons. It’s my second year doing it and it’s always nice to see how happy everyone gets. Real easy troop, the people that host us have a background and they take pics and print them right there for the families.

  5. Guess I’ll try to help out.

I’m not Centurion and obviously if you want to get the title of Centurion through this forum you need to explore the option of EIB first.  It’s a “rank” based program you need one before the other.  Normally people apply for EIB through the EIB section of the forum and you get lots of valuable feedback. You, I assume unknowingly, skipped the step and obviously got none. You can also get your armor to Centurion specifications and not apply for the title just because you want it that way doesn’t mean you have to apply for the title. I’d just advise about calling yourself Centurion without having the forum title, it might get people around here upset.

As for the armor itself it looks pretty well made. I’m no pro just a guy answering I some questions but it looks like the bolts on the TD would need to be replaced, cod snap added, hovi tips need painting, probably a few other things mentioned in the CRL I’m missing.  Some people will probably say your brows too low, your ears are a degree off as well, but I don’t think that’ll hold you back. Most of it is probably cosmetic but not seeing the pics of you with the armor on makes it hard to see how it fits.

The link below should take you to the EIB section (if I added it properly). Make sure to check the CRL as stated above and apply for EIB  first. Both titles are going to require an application and various pics of you in armor and close ups of other pieces. Good luck and feel free to ask questions someone will help you out.

    ARMOR ASSEMBLY

I'm starting on the armor. Resources I'm using in this build are primarily these two threads:

    FOREARM ASSEMBLY

I started with the forearms and already ran into a bit of trouble trimming. Compared to snips, I can say nothing beats a good straight blade at your side. I am going to avoid any tools that shear the ABS as I can easily crack the material at the edge. As I don't have a workshop, I can't catch the shavings (for ABS paste) if I use a Dremel outside,  so I am using three different blades depending on the cut so I can keep the chips/shavings:

    1. Standard workshop cutter for thicker or longer cuts
    2. A Blade of Exact-Zero for standard trimming
    3. A scalpel with a curved blade (typically used for miniature and model work) for surgical precision (naturally)
At the wrist, the edges should have ideally no return if I read the CRL correctly. I trimmed the the shears first (not doing that again) then cleanly with an X-ACTO blade. I little sanding and it seemed ready.

    QUESTIONS

    1. What is the return, if any, at the elbow-end of the forearms?
    2. Are all trims made to the piece that has no detail, as stated in Easy's thread? If so, I will end up trimming a lot from both sides of that piece. I want to be assured that is correct.
    3. I intend to have an inner strip as well as an outer strip and want to confirm that both halves are assembled edge-to-edge. Correct?

The black line is your return edge. That’s the areas on the armor that curves in.

The are right they need to be glued end to end with a cover strip. You can cut those arms in half (or whatever size is needed) to get the perfect fit shown with a red line. My suggestion would be save the cutoffs and the longer pieces can be your inside cover strip. It helps save the good cover strip material for the outside. And any cutoffs you make save the plastic. You’ll need it if you ever need to make ABS paste.

The AM armor is cast bigger so you’ll probably end up trimming it down to fit. That’s totally normal. Everything needs to fit well so do what you have to in trimming things to fit around you just stick with the natural curve and keep it even (if the piece is round try and keep it round). Hopefully that helps David.
