  1. I think I see a spot where another magnet might fit. Keep up the good work!
  2. Ha ha. Doing pics now. Thanks Sean! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Thanks again! I think I found a place locally that sells the right screws, so... I really don’t have an excuse for not doing it now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Thanks Andrew (and Tony)! You just made my day. Are the pan head screws a centurion requirement? Just wondering if I need to go shopping tomorrow or if it can wait until after my Centurion application.
  5. To further what Daniel mentions: before fixing the seam, make sure you’re happy with the fit. Some people trim away the backs of the thighs and shins behind the knee for mobility. You can see this in the CRL pictures. This trimming will remove some of the gap so, less fixing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Mine look similar to this. I’d say you are ok as is.
  7. Hey David. The thighs look really good to me. Try pulling them up a little - if they still fit then you should be good (just in case you realize they need to come up once you have your cod/posterior pieces on). But with two fingers space, you should be good. For your knees - is your right knee (right in the picture) a little larger around your knee than the left? Or is that just the angle of the picture? Still looks good, I just ask because I found the thighs to fit quite differently from right to left. Bicep hooks. I had a tough time getting these to bend as well. After many attempts with one piece and a hot water bath, I finally got it to bend. I had to hold it in the water for about a minute, take it out and bend a little, cool with cold water, and repeat about 6 or 7 times. I broke the abs on two other attempts (I lost patience and was pushing too hard). For my last try, I got a slight bend started with the hot water, but ended up just holding the piece over the open flame of my stove. I have a feeling that these pieces are a little thicker than what others use with different kits. I bought a heat gun from Amazon for about $22 CND. I love it! It scares the hell out of me every time I use it, but it does work. Keep up the great work! Things are coming along nicely!
  8. I had the same problem. I built a tab and slot connection. It wasn't that hard to do. Some extra white ABS and a little black plastic and the right ab to kidney seam is nice and flush. inside view - black plastic is glued to the kidney and a slot made of extra cover strip material is on the ab side.

  10. Oops, I did it again. Another BBB. It was actually a couple days ago but I’ve been too busy to open it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Hey Giles. If you are planning on higher level approval (and you should be ) you are going to want to remove the return edge at the wrist now, before deciding on final sizing. For the wrist opening, I sized mine down to the point where my hand just fit through without too much trouble. I have skinny wrists so the forearm piece fits much like your picture above, but once I get my gloves on it is not nearly as noticeable (try fitting with your gloves on and cotton liners - you'll want liners eventually so you can remove your rubber gloves and they will thicken your wrist area a bit) . As for the butt return edge - aim for 15mm total width but you can adjust a bit to whatever works for you - just keep in mind that all your coverstrips need to be proportional (i.e. if your biceps and forearms are a little less than 15mm then your legs should be a little less than 20mm). You can cheat a little on the back coverstrips compared to the front ones (they don't have to be exactly the same if you need to squeeze a few mm here or there). I hope that all made sense. Keep up the good work!
  12. I had this happen to me as well but not so badly that I needed to take corrective actions. It was the grey for the helmet (I don't recall the number off hand). I assumed it was because paint was drying around the edge of the tin and I was using that to wipe off excess paint from the brush. The blue had other issues - shaking did nothing to mix it, I had to stir with a toothpick for several minutes every time I used it. They were from a local hobby shop, and if memory serves me, I had to brush the dust off the little tins - so I assume they were fairly old. I just assumed Humbrol paint was garbage and that was the way it was in 1976 - so my paint job is a little grainy in a few spots.
  13. Looks good! For the pic with your left leg (right leg? top picture) - it is hard to tell, but the thigh should be rotated out a little for proper placement. Could just be the picture too.
  14. Building this armour has been more rewarding than I could have ever imagined. I loved the process and I now love looking into my office and seeing actual stormtrooper armour sitting there. I thank everyone who contributes to this site, without this I would have been lost. In the context of the 501st, I'm sort of in the boonies but I'm going to find any excuse to wear my armour and troop. My son has a show and tell at school next week - guess what he is bringing. Thanks again, FISD!
  15. Well, EIB application posted! Anyway, I want to thank everyone for their input - either directly or just by posting their own builds. I can't begin to list all the people that helped but I will mention Sean, Dan, Q, Brad, and especially Daniel. Thanks guys! You provided sound advice and/or talked me off my OCD ledge. I also have to thank Tony (ukswrath) for his awesome build threads - this was the foundation for most of what I did. And thank you Mark at AP for this great kit. This is an amazing community - I'm proud to be part of it! TK-34575 Up next... TD. Gonna get dirty.

  18. Sweet!! Thanks Aaron!
  19. I read it someplace that two fingers was a guide for fitting armour. I think that was geared towards the torso pieces. So I aimed for 1 to 2 fingers for the leg parts (depending on size of part - bigger parts get more room). The idea is to have some breathing room in the armour. I like to error on the side of being too big. You can always trim later or add foam padding... adding abs is a lot harder to do. But At the end of the day, I comes down to how it feels for the wearer - and the size of your fingers
  20. I tried to size them so that I could fit two fingers snugly between the armour and my leg. The tops were more like one finger. But yes, I removed a fair amount from the thigh pieces. And I had taper the cuts to account for my boney little knees.
  21. Great start Giles! For me, this was something that really didn't sort itself out until the other torso pieces were together. After everything was pretty much strapped together, I put in temporary elastic pieces to help fit (I used snaps for all the strapping on the shoulder to chest connection) and it wasn't until then that I could really see how the chest and back would fit together. Your back piece should be a lot closer to your body. Mine was like yours the first time I fitted the armor - I just had to pull the pieces up higher (pull the cod and butt pieces upwards). Of course, I'm only 5'10", so if you are a taller person my advice is pretty much moot.
  22. And... in some instances, I found gluing the elastic or nylon directly to the armour better than using snaps. For example, the arms. But it is all personal preference. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Also. I would try a double snap system next time. Much more rigid connections to keep things where they are supposed to be. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
