  1. Look closely at them to make sure you don't have half a left and half a right, pay attention to the calf bulges to determine which is which. When lining them up, keep in mind there is no return edge at the ankles, so trimming is not a problem. Also, the top of the left can be a little off because it gets covered by the sniper knee, make sure the right one lines up at the top, as it is exposed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. I'd do more research before investing time and money, question is, will everything you make meet these requirements? http://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TC_stdgrunt Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. And looking at reference pic, I may cut the top shorter.... dang it lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I ended with 4 redos lol. This one was vinyl and too bulky, plus it was hot wearing it. I came up with this, made from light foam backed material, I may add some fabric extenders, but it covers my neck completely, and my undersuit has a turtleneck like collar, so it might be ok as is. 5. A few more tweaks and I'll be ready for approval pics. [emoji16] (That's my mannequin, BTW. I know his shoes are wrong, but he stands via a pole through the bottom of his foot, I wasn't about to drill a hole through the bottom of my new TK's. He will be getting some spats or something soon.) All in all, it was very educational, yet smooth build, I'm really glad I did it myself, it makes me even prouder looking at it, that BBB into this is amazing. I made minimal mistakes thanks to the community, my biggest fear was screwing up this expensive armor. I will be sure to pay this forward and help the community where I can. Looking forward to my approval and ultimately, my first troop. Thanks to all that helped with comments and build threads, I could not have done it so easily otherwise. 6. The edges of the armor where it's bent over, it gives the illusion of thickness to the armor. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I'm beating the end of my first build, I'd recommend it, I learned a lot about the armor and as said above, you're able to tweak it to your body. Besides the fact that it was a blast Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. I decided to try my hand at building my own neck seal, ready to attach to a black shirt, but wanted to see if it's going to pass before I go any further with it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Maybe use shielded wire for your extension? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. My brain couldn't navigate the flips, see it now Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Lol, good to know, didn't look right Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Looking good. You do have your legs swapped tho, ammo on right, sniper on left. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Oh, and his right arm is too big to fit forearm properly, he'll be going to the garage for some more surgery soon. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Making good progress, my lovely model Manny Quinn is not very happy about losing his toes for the cause, but so nice to be able to see my work coming together. Just need to finish strapping, paint helmet and install lens, install and paint button panels, finish belt and thigh boxes. If anything looks off, please let me know. 15. Figures it out, mount it first, then cut at approx 45 degree angle, using same distance as the plastic is wider than the belt. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. What's the best way to get the correct angle of cut for the ends of the belt mounted ammo boxes? From pics it looks like it's angled off 1" from each corner, want to verify. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. I seem to have gotten something in my eye Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. For the D ring on mine, I didn't like the roughness of 3D printed one that came with it, so I used a link of chain from a hanging light fixture, it fits perfectly. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Thank you! I'm really liking it, other than the wonky pieces not lining up, it stresses an OCD like myself hehe, but I think I'm past the worst of it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Thanks much! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Right thigh lined up good, left one is off by about an inch, assuming I should line up the bottom and let top fall as pictured? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Can't get pics to work, which link am I supposed to be using with Photobucket?
