  1. Nov 19th weekend Update - -- Knee Caps Its time to make strapping for the knees. I followed a few other troopers having both the center velcro and a strap going around the back of the leg for additional support. Here i took 1"x1" pads and seared the edges and hole with a soldering Iron. Then sewed the elastic to the pads. here is the back of the knee pads with the velcro pads Attached Finished Spats SE44C SE is from Heston3D and got an upgraded clip from Justin Lee Morrison that ill be installing. Helmet - 2 More coats of FlatBlack - Finally done Thigh - Here i made a belt and straps using 2" webbing for the belt and 2" elastic for the thighs First Test Fit with Finished Product (Mind you that i took the pics in the mirror so its reversed) Some Close ups of the finished armor Please let me know if you have any questions. thanks for Viewing!!!
  2. WOW! love to have a few of those statues at my place
  3. New progress to share - Weekend of Nov 11/12th 2017 Helmet - so there was a indentation on the rear of the helmet. Filled it in with Spot Putty and will Wet sand and repaint this evening Padding installed using Velco Lens installed TD - Completed Belt - Completed Shins Inside of the shins Recessed clip area filled in and primered. Needs Wet Sanding then will be ready for paint Thighs Still needs Sanding, Primering etc. PlasticDip Used the Plasticdip with a Foam brush to finish off the inside of the armor. Ab So while i just painted it and was drying on the paint rack it fell off and rolled around. Ugh! Has a few blemishes now so will need to be Re-Wet sanded and painted.
  4. HA! I Bet i know who you are referring too!! is his Initials K.S. ??? LOL
  5. NICE!!! Did you dismantle the Disney Ax for the sound and Board?
  6. Wait what!!! How the heck did you get that so fast????? Amazon? did you choose the 2mm?
  7. That is a great idea!!!! I especially like the idea about putting speaker cloth or such behind to obscure the user. Thus allowing us to breath through the medium as well.
  8. Hi Joe, i did a quick search on Google for 2mm Hexagonal hole Mesh sheets and found a few vendors that sell the product. one in UK sells it for 1.99. We just need to measure the size of the mesh currently in our helmets and can order the correct one. I also like your idea about cutting out the area between the teeth then install this mesh for the extra cooling and breath-ability as in the OT helmets have. Though i just dont know if well every get that approved but maybe someone else can comment. Here is a link to the Mesh that i was looking at; 2mm looks right, http://www.themeshcompany.com/
  9. I never cleared coated mine either and just applied the decals. I did speak with Mike over at TB and he did say his decals can be clearcoated. However make sure to buy a good quality clear as Joseph mentioned can yellow over time. Ensure that its both UV protected and Non-yellowing.
  10. 11/07/2017 Update - Progress Update Items to accomplish this weekend Shins - Fill in inside recessed area (where clips normally sit) with bondo and sand smooth. - DONE Shins2 - Cut out Pill holes on Shins: 30mm by 8mm. Then Glaze and primer and paint - Not going to do after all. Decals instead Belt - Tape off 2 smaller horizontal clips and paint black then clearcoat - DONE Helmet - Paint Flat Black Stripe over - DONE TD - Clearcoat and install rear clips - DONE Had to get this book as has many references to the 501st and really great book in general Ab section. Primered and Wet sanded with 800 Shins One of the shins had a weak spot so chose to reinforce with ABS On the inside of the Shins there are no clips, so wanted to ensure screen accuracy and filled them in. Here i used Bondo to start filling them in Here it is after block sanding, then second bondo fill, and another block sanding For the opposite side i wanted to diminish the depth of the seam. So tried something new and working out well thus far was to use flexible caulk. here you can see it initially filled in around the clip and seam. heres an image of it after wet sanding, primer and outside. Still need paint but it greatly diminished the seams initial depth Yoke - Black area Painted with Krylon ColorMaster - 2 coats Shoulder Bell - Decal Time. Here i gauged the area where the crest would reside. I opted for 120mm from the bottom. This looked to best match the positioning from what ive seen on the web as well as Darrens Findings. Ammo Boxes - Masked off and painted on the black area for the 2 smaller boxes Helmet Masked off and painted 2 coats of Krylon Flat black Results - Does anyone see where i messed up? yes i masked off the brow trim too short , haha. Now have to remask and paint over the stripe plus fix that scratch in the back black area which i didnt see.
  11. Oh well the good news there is that the TLJTK and TLJTK Exec use the same helmet. so the frown is the same on both. Only diff is the executioner has hte matte black stripe and what appears to be matte black teeth. but the mesh is hte same as TFA and TLJ. hope that helps.
  12. Busy week and not much armor updates. Expecting to work on these more this weekend. thx all Items to accomplish this weekend Shins - Fill in inside recessed area (where clips normally sit) with bondo and sand smooth. Shins2 - Cut out Pill holes on Shins: 30mm by 8mm. Then Glaze and primer and paint Belt - Tape off 2 smaller horizontal clips and paint black then clearcoat Helmet - Paint Flat Black Stripe over TD - Clearcoat and install rear clips
  13. Hi Joe, at the moment its for TLJ FOTK. believe we have another for TLJ FOTK Exec. But your right, seams to be TLJ general discussion. haha
  14. You could always build a WTF OT kit. great quality and quick shipping, usually withing only a few weeks. WTF can be found on FB under: WTF: Walts Trooper Factory. Tell them i sent you.
  15. Waterbased paint? i wouldnt see why not and would imagine it would come off easy. it ther were any staining, im sure Novus polish would remove and restore. I also heard some troopers doing it out of Vinyl so can remove at a later date. However im sure another trooper may comment more accurately.
  16. Sound great and cant wait to see these gents. For sound, i purchased the Disney 1/2 size axe for $30 as was a good price just for the Sound card. It has was sounds like a single speaker located in the Henglester and must have a motion sensor as offers Clashing Sound when stricken. Im thinking between the few of us we can integrate this into our Axe builds and potentially upgrade the speaker a bit. Andy
  17. Me too! Ive checked with Wayne as well to see where his measurements were and we were within 1" of each other. For the Top portion we were both exactly at 46cm. The handle was the only discrepancy where we were 1.5" apart. Wayne had 76cm and i had 81cm. Not bad.
  18. Thanks Tony, ****This maybe no longer valid as the latest measurements from Sing are that the Ax is 5ft (152cm) long, 2ft (61cm) for the claw section and 3ft (91cm) for the handle. This is all based on a Reference to the FO Trooper being 71" tall (5',11"0) Trooper Measured off of a Reference photo was: 2.92" tall Trooper - 2.92 (Ref Photo Meas) x 12" = 35.04 x 12" = 420.48 / 71 = 5.92 Decimal, 71" Tall, 180CM Math Check: 71" / 12" = 5.92 From the same Reference photo, the FO was holding an Axe, so then i measured the Axe full length (A)., Handle (H), and Top portion where the claws are (T) Axe Full Length - 2.125 (Ref Photo Meas) x 12" = 25.5 x 12" = 360 / 71 = 4.31 Decimal, 51.7" Tall, 131CM Axe Handle - 1.3125 (Ref Photo Meas) x 12" = 15.75 x 12" = 189 / 71 = 2.66 Decimal, 31.92" Tall, 81CM Axe Top - 0.75 (Ref Photo Meas) x 12" = 9 x 12" = 108 / 71 = 1.52 Decimal, 18.24" Tall, 46CM Summary Trooper - 71" Tall, 180CM Axe Full Length - 51.7" Tall, 131CM Axe Handle - 31.92" Tall, 81CM Axe Top - 18.24" Tall, 46CM If someone can double check and or share your own measurements then we can compare. Hope this helps. thanks all
  19. What happens when you already used your TK ID for an OT then build a FO? your ID stays TKXXXX for both suits? i guess so.
  20. oh yup, on closer inspection of your purchased bucket from BSP, it appears that you are missing the mesh between the teeth. Oh my! yeah Jims has the Mesh already cast in but its also not see through or breathable like the OT is. its solid on the backside. So i wouldnt bother cutting that area out but instead just cut and glue in the mesh. Lastly i also used Montana Cans on my build and love the stuff! my Only complaint with it is that its on the softer side of paint and if you leave something against the painted surface it tends to dent over time. not hard like Enamel.
  21. Has anyone tried the PlasticDip version where you can Dip / Blush on? Not the Rattle Can, was going to test that out brushing it on so dont have to worry about masking and or taping.
  22. Got some more work done last night focusing on the FO Belt. Large Pouch - Added Velcro Then affixed the Cover Adhered the mounting to the rear of the other ammo pouches Belt - Punched holes in each of the layers Using Loctite 60sec, affixed the layers and clamped while they dry Made it all the way around and completed the overlap of the outer layer onto the buckle
  23. Thanks Daniel, Im using Montana Cans Gold Series for the Base coat and Clear coat. these are the same paints that LFL used on the ShoreTroopers Armor. The paint goes on very smooth and fine which is wonderful but Im not entirely sold on it just yet as its a softer Acrylic paint which remains flexible which is nice for Jims armor, however will it stand up to trooping. that ill have to report back once i troop a few times. Lol on Finns shoes in the picture. hahah, beats me.
