  1. So I chromed mine myself with Angel Gilding. It’s basically spectra chrome just a do it at your home version. Super hard to get right and finicky and expensive. Spectra chrome is a great option if it’s near you! I wouldn’t bring it all the way out here for that. Cause who knows how long it’ll take for them to chrome it.
  2. Right!!! This costume and the FO Raider/Seeker would be a pretty awesome kit
  3. I know this is an old thread but one of my garrison mates was thinking of doing this kit lol. Probably spec ops if I had to guess.
  4. Awesome!! Can’t wait to see another Captain in our ranks. So for the wrap idea. I talked to a lot of wrap companies when I was building mine in 2017 and they all said the same thing. It would work, but there would be seems in the wrap and also in the areas with a lot of indents and details it could very easily not work or mute the details a lot. The best ways to chrome are metallization, have a shop do a spray chrome or some method like that, or do it yourself with alclad with an airbrush. Not entirely sure if alclad is ok with TLJ tho due to it not being that perfect chrome but I’m sure for Lvl1 it would be acceptable. A GML can chime in on my comment for clarification
  5. Facebook is the best way from how I contacted him in 2017. I believe he has a RPF username as well. Jimmiroquia i think is the username. But FB was easiest
  6. Hey checking in hoping to see that you haven’t given up on the build. Any questions or issues feel free to PM me. Always glad to help troopers in need[emoji16] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. is it the actual spat you are missing or one of the boot pieces? Just wanting to make sure I've read correctly lol. Honestly if it didn't come with the kit I would message Jim about it and I am more than positive he'd be willing to help ya out.
  8. Can't wait to have another Phasma in the ranks!! Regarding your question on chroming and how durable all the methods are. Unfortunately there are pieces that will have to be redone at some point just because of wear and tear. Main areas that have been affected for my personally are the tops of the thighs, inside of the biceps, toe pieces, and the ab piece where the back and chest rub from when walking and all that. I have been trooping in my kit for 2 and a half years now and have around 90 troops without rechroming. And ya at this point its nearing trash compactor Phasma lol. I chromed mine with the Angel Gilding spray on chrome which is a decent method. Really reflective if done right but the tinting is the hard part. I'm going to be rechroming using the vac-metalizing method from a company like Mueller Corp or maybe someone local depending on prices. Aclad chrome is great because its easy for you to touch up pieces while they wear and cheaper. Downside is that its not that chrome look you really want to go for, especially for TLJ Phasma. If you have any questions at all feel free to ask!! There's a bunch of here with knowledge willing to help out in any way that we can! Can't wait to see your journey to becoming one of us!!
  9. It looks like theres tabs on the front of the ab to glue to the back parts of the ab. I would glue the back to those 2 tabs to that. Might take away the seem to almost nothing. Can you slide on the ab either over the head or like pants? If you can then I wouldn't worry about having the line cut in the back to put on. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
  10. Is there any way you can post a few pictures of the helmet? Curious to see how it looks because I have been digging around trying to find a more accurate helmet and couldn't for the life of me find a decent .stl file. As for the armor, there have been 2 makers that I have seen but not completely sure on the accuracy. Someone else on here put his link down in the 3d files section so I assume its pretty decent. He apparently made a Deathtrooper too or something I believe. Hope this helps! https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/463962512/3d-model-of-stormtrooper-armor-first here is the link.
  11. Hello! This was a debate at one point on the FB page that we have not sure of on here exactly. But the sabatons are supposed to go on top of the spats for TFA. The suit was thrown together in the last bit of filming because the character wasnt part of the script till the end(hence the minimal amount of screen time in TFA). That's why she also has the outer shins in TFA and not TLJ. They needed to make longer legs or something but didnt have time or some jazz. Who knows. The suit is even held together in some parts with alumin tape lol! But you do see them in the BTS shots with them over the spats as well. And when they set the suit up at Celebration they were that way as too. Glad to see another Phasma in the works!! Cant wait to see it. Do you have a build thread already? Or on the FB group too? Just curious Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
  12. Posting in here to get updates, but I am way interested in this if there will be a run depending on price, electronics and all that jazz. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
  13. Hello. Sorry for the late response I'm hardly on these boards lol. But the Anovos helmet is approveable as long as the chroming matches the entire armor kit. We have a few Phasmas with the helmet that are approved. I have the Jim helmet and got approved with it, others have the Thorsson helmet as well. Saw a few 3d printed ones out there as well. Good luck finding one! Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

  15. Well I totally spaced on posting my build thread on here and sorry for that. But as of May 18, 2017 my Captain Phasma got approved. TK-18188 reporting for duty! Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk
  16. Hey TK4205 i emailed imperialgaskets@gmail.com a couple days ago and haven't heard back yet. Know your busy and all, just checking to see if you recieved my email. Thanks Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk
  17. Email sent. These look amazing Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk
  18. Awesome! She was working on mine last week so hopefully soon thatll be here. Got the rubberized version too. And its not necesarrily wary of the tool itself, ive sanded down car parts and stuff. But its the fiberglass. Dont have any experience with it and ibheard from someone you want to be super carefull with the front sanding and exposing the fibers. But seems like everyone on this thread says do it lol. So ill end up getting out the palm sander. What did you do with the little dimples that were around the armor and helmet? Sand it down to smooth or put in a bondo/filler? Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk
  19. Glad to "meet" you to lol. And ya, ive talked to jessica a little. Shes actually doing my cape. Cause theres no way in heck thay i can sew lol. Im only a little cautious with palm sanding cause I'm afraid of doing too much. But seems like yours has been going great! Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk
  20. Ya Molly I'm part of that group. Calvin Mondragon. And I thought about the hand sander, I have a few. But for me at the moment I really like being able to just hand sand. I get a better feel with armor and with what I'm doing. But phase will probably pass lol. Jim's kit is absolutely amazing and so easy to work with. Very happy with it so far
  21. Not a lot done today, but was able to give the armor a good wash to get all the dirt and grime off of it. Did a quick glance on the inspection to feel and look for cracks, bumps, dimples, etc. Gonna let it all dry overnight and hopefully after work tomorrow start sanding the inside to get rid of those nasty fiberglass hairs.
  22. Alright sweet! Will definitely be in contact with some local places. Heard that it can be a pain to find a shop that will do this project. But thanks for letting me in on that possibility.
  23. I plan on having it vac-metalized. I didn't know that they would do the surface work. I should obviously do the bondo and get it all smooth tho right? and let them finish it from there?
  24. ya. its the version 4 armor and the version 3 helmet. Everything is the newest version of his kit. and the material is the flexible fiberglass still. I don't have a lot of experience with fiberflass, but the armor feels like rubber and is incredibly flexible
  25. Hey there FISD members. Names Calvin and today I just received my Captain Phasma kit from Jim Tripon. Absolutely love the kit and Jim has been awesome! I've been on the Phasma costuming page for a while and have seen the builds, and everyone in the Mountain Garrison and that page have pointed me in this direction. I am new to the costuming and building, so any info and tips/tricks is most definitely welcome! Can't wait to start the build and be trooping with you guys in the near future. I was gonna start with washing the kit thoroughly tomorrow to remove any grime and dust so I can see any imperfections in the kit. If sanding is needed (which probably yes) what grit do you all recommend?
