  1. Hello Thanks so much, I've been talking ti a few suppliers and have also found a spectra chrome supplier in Norway. So making some headway there, might also be heading to the US in July and wondering if it isn't worth taking her with and getting it done there. If you don't mind me asking, what did you go with and how has the maintenance been on it? Small update while I'm at it, been snowing so slow progress. Almost done with internal covering with plastidip and about 1/5 of the way with coating the outside with primer for 1st round of prep.
  2. Thanks so much for this, will head out and grab some today.
  3. Cleaned and drying, ready for when the primer etc arrive later today. All look great other than one small piece of damage on one of the lower leg pieces, will need to figure out how to fix that:
  4. Hi, I'm in Nacka, Stockholm. I am definitely going to have a million questions, let me actually start with the first one im looking for the equivalent of FibreGlast 1110 here in Sweden, reached out to a few resin companies with no luck so far. Has anyone here done a Jimmy kit yet and used something like the FibreGlast for reinforcement? And obviously any possible contacts to reach out for paint would be super appreciated.
  5. Hello everyone So I thought I should do a build thread, I want to preface this with I have never done this before so brace yourself. There will be lots of errors, but I will make up for it in enthusiasm. So BBB arrived yesterday, haven't been able to unpack it yet (see next steps). But overall some details: - TLJ kit from Jim Tripon. Ordered 22 Nov, 12 Dec impulse added the blaster (obviously moving shipping date out), shipped 15 Jan and received 19 Jan. - Will be ordering gaskets, harness, neck seal, shiny shorts and closer to end of the build the cape from Geeky Pink - Shoes TBC (still deciding if I will do lifters, I am 1.71m so on the fence) - Gloves TBC - Under suit, living in Sweden has supplied me with many of those - Chrome finish currently 3 options get it professionally done (started reaching out to shops, but will delay build do to cost), metallization (see previous option) and finally possibly having it wrapped. Not sure if anyone has done that yet and if it could/does work. Next steps: - Clean kit by scrubbing down with scour pads and soap (just need to get a work jacket and gloves today for that) - Do a test fit after cleaning - We don't have a lot of workspace so ordered a little gazebo to work in outside, that will arrive with the primer and sanding paper etc. Hopefully this gets going Monday - I am waiting to hear if their is an equivalent of FibreGlast 1110 available here, once I know I will either do a layer of the resin and Plastidip else just a layer of Plastidip (assuming Plastidip should go on once the snaps etc. has been installed) Excited to get the build going and taking you all on this janky journey with me.
  6. BBB day has arrived, so excited for it to be here. Will hopefully be able to get it all out and check everything today or tomorrow.
  7. Big brown box set to arrive first or second week of January (decided also minute to also add the blaster kit). Thanks for all the great advice so far
  8. Hi all, Small progress update. Kit has been ordered from Jim Tripon. I also now have access to the facebook group. Will probably be a slow-ish build. But will update as I go. Thanks again for all the advice and tips
  9. Thanks for this Sly. After your reply went and did a bit of checking, definitely something to consider. At this stage considering everything the Jimmy kit seems to still be the front runner, the sharper details is probably worth the additional effort for me at this stage. As soon as I have heard back from 850 though will pull the trigger.
  10. Thanks, I applied to join earlier this week. Hopefully I get approved soon.
  11. Thanks so much, I did read those and they were super helpful. At the moment I am just waiting for some feedback from 850, KB and Shaun. Wanted to check on some of the questions I had as it would play a part in the choice of kit as well. I am going to start sourcing everything else while waiting for the final decision and purchase of the kit. Any and all advice is greatly welcomed and appreciated. Thanks so much
  12. Hi Everyone I am in the process of starting the research and sourcing of items to do a Phasma build. In saying that, I have never built a costume (so naturally I would choose one of the hardest to do as my first). I have reached out to some suppliers and just waiting back to hear before I order the kit, but as part of that I wanted to ask a few questions and also kind of start the conversation. The assembly I think I am comfortable with trimming, strapping, etc. thanks to the build threads and the resources on the forum, I would be lost without all of this. I am still waiting for access to the FB Phasma builders to get the list of more up to date suppliers (thank to Captain cupcake for the list in Tims build though). I am a woman, height 1,7m (think that's 5f7 I think), based in Europe. I had a read around in the forum and there is so much info but I have some specific questions: **Fibre glass kit vs ABS** - To get the fit right for a woman is either a better option (if someone has experience with both types would love your input). Also flexibility and mobility also a consideration. - Have any of you experienced a difference in the TLJ paint finish between the different sets? (intending to have the kit painted by either body shop or doing the vacuum metalized process) - Paint maintenance, related to the above question, but more around how well the finish has held up and how difficult/easy the maintenance was. **Undersuit, neck seal and gaskets** - Has any one done a suit with gaskets built in? Is it advisable to even do that? Hoping to start posting the process soon. Thank again to everyone on here
  13. Nairy, yes you guys did actually And thanks for the info tkspartan and gmrhodes.
  14. You guys are the absolute best, I am torn between the abs vs fibre glass kits. From what I can gather the fibre glass is easier to assemble, but does that come at the price of it not being as fitted as the abs?
  15. Hello Everyone I am so excited to have found the forum thanks to the Swedish Garrison, as I have been wanting to be part of a community that gives back as well as participate in a hobby we love. Brand new at the building of costumes and ideally would love to create a Captain Phasma. Any and all advice will be welcomed with open arms, I had a read through some of the threads but not sure of the most up to date info and suppliers specifically for Phasma. Looking forward to being part of the community.
