  1. ... And here's me assisting with the Wookie!
  2. Received my foam knee pads today. These things are awesome looking, VERY Stormtrooperie! Can't wait to cut 'em up and put them in there!
  3. Well, I submitted my 501st application yesterday... just waiting to hear back on my ID number. I'll keep you posted.
  4. The face turned out better on yours. The eyes and mouth are too far apart on mine.
  5. I may use the ATA instead, the AP lid is too small.
  6. There's NO surface treatment on these, other than sanding and buffing. My clips are shiny!
  7. I ordered some of these knee pads (below). And depending on how they feel, I thought I might cut them up and glue (or velcro) in there. Should make it less stuffy, I hope. If those don't work, I might try a few sets of these baseball helmet pads. But they're more $$$
  8. Got my stripes for the AP helmet I also added some padding, which I didn't like as much as I thought I would. They made it way too stuffy in there. I started mounting the lenses and mouth screen in there as well. I ran out of screws for the lenses, but I need different screws anyhow, unless I decide to countersink the heads. I will also add some rubber trim (to frame the lenses) for a more finished look.
  9. Whoa these things are huge! Just got them in, and they're too big! Darn it all! Pretty heavy duty though. Thicker rubber than they usually come.
  10. The feedback looks promising.
  11. Thanks for your support troops! It's all connected already (See below). I think the velcro just came undone. And besides... I can't see a thing in this helmet! Stupid lenses were fogging up n everything!
  12. need to order my helmet strips... just realized.
  13. Did my first full test fit tonight. Stupid bicep turned on me!
  14. Looks like a cookie jar!
  15. Yeah I know... and at this point I'm like freeking out, because I'm so close to being done with it! Guess I'm a glutton for punishment!? I know though, if I don't do it right the 1st time, it will bug me until I fix it!
  16. Since this detail is sunken in, and too hard to mask off... I decided to just brush it in. First, I used a pen to outline the area that I needed to paint. I'm overlapping it with an outline of black anyhow, so this will cover up any ink left outside of the grey area. Voilà! I found these at Meijer, and thought I would give it a try. It's spot on for the cheeks, but the paint is a bi flat, and will chip/scratch off. I will need to top-coat it after I'm done. Masking for black outline Black outline I used the paint pen for these, but I will go back in with some grey and a brush to clean it up a bit. That's about it for the paint then! I think the mark on the ear is a bit off (on the left lid). Also cut the brow too high for my liking, but still ... I found some aluminum mic tips online, sanded the paint off the ends. I really like how this looks! I might go back in and touch up the chin with some white. I know they varied in the movie, among other details. Also thinking of sanding the chin slightly, so that the white shows through a bit. It brings out the details. ATA & AP lid comparison. Am I crazy, or does the AP look a little bit ROTJ? Polish-up me lenses ATA & AP with lenses, brow, mics ... holly cow, I think I'm almost done!? *sniff*
  17. Chin up! Cut mask with XACTO Always prime 1st kids! Then slowly dust a few layers (a few minutes apart) until it's covered. Masking the grey stuff I cut up and taped shopping bags to help cover the lid. Rather than brushing, I could spray the larger details. make sure you cover all the edges so no paint gets in! ATA after spraying, AP with mask still on. Same... ... Alright already Jesse!
  18. Karen's gloves/handguards arrived yesterday. Unfortunately the XL is a bit too large for me. I ordered some smaller one's the other day though from another source. I'll wait for those and add my flex-guards. The AP guards turned out pretty nice though! I used a heat gun to form fit them to my hands. Just put them on, and heat them up while their on the back of your hand. Once they soften up a bit, form them around the back of your fist. You can either run them under cold water or blow on them to cool them of and making the plastic hard again. And one last thing... wear gloves while doing all of this. Don't want to burn your hands.
  19. Thank you sir for the compliments! Glad you are enjoying my build thread. I'm so very close to completing my kit. Just touching up the hemet today. And that should do it I think. Posting more photos now. Thanks agin for the thumbs up!
