  1. $1800 is pretty standard for a fully completed kit. It's definitely cheaper to get an untrimmed kit.
  2. That totally depends on a lot of factors. Is there anything being planned near you? Do they know about our services? Can you organize something? Not everywhere is going to be doing an event but there should be some things planned. If you're able to travel then it just opens up even more opportunities.
  3. No that's true, you make an excellent point there. I might also argue that unless the areas in which you're travelling are not naturally lit, it would be fair to say there would be light endlessly throughout travel. Therefore, no light to outrun.
  4. Thank you! I was trying to explain theory of relativity but I just forgot what the term was! I was also too lazy to google it LOL.
  5. Until we can travel at twice the speed of light. This is unanswerable with actual logic, only speculation. My speculation; yes. Your view of the space around you would be blurred probably to the point of blackness, however, the second ship behind travelling at the same speed would be at an almost stand still, therefore visible. Sounds stupid the more I read this but that's what I think. However, if I base my answer on fictional depictions of what that speed may look like. Then the answer is no.
  6. I'll also add that I had absolutely NO experience with any form of crafting like this and I tackled my AP TK kit with relative ease. Finishing it in a short 5 weeks. It's much easier than you might think and also saves you a very pretty penny along with it actually FITTING you properly. I went untrimmed and would do untrimmed again in a heartbeat but you can go for trimmed to save you some effort. Honestly, the rest is easy beyond that point. If you do your research, take your time and use the right tools you'll have no issues!
  7. Modifying the AP helmet isn't very hard. You just need the lenses and the new ear pieces. Both of which you can order and it would be very hard to ruin it. I find the AP helmet looks more "hero" anyways with how the brow trim sits with no gap above the eyes. As far as the frown goes, you just don't cut out the 4th holes.
  8. TK-18815 Date I was married. 18th of August 2015. Plus I find it sounds cool!
  9. As far as I know, yeah, the ears do need to be separate or appear separate. I'm sure someone will chime in to correct me if I'm wrong but a fellow trooper has a very nice resin helmet that is not approvable because it's a one piece mold. Makes a wicked display piece though. But my goodness don't stop doing this! I just wanted to throw out there that if you're planning on going 501st; you'll want a TK kit from AP or RSProps or others. You'll get a helmet from those kits and it will be much less work to get it 501st. It will be plastic as well and you'll have less of a chance to drop it and crack the bondo or worse. Again! Don't stop! I love watching pep files grow into awesome looking pieces. I wish I had the talent to do it. I've tried, and failed miserably.
  10. I'll be pretty honest, you get helmets with almost every TK armour kits. The work you'd have to do to get it approved; you're probably better off getting a helmet with a kit and leaving this as a project. The ears would need to be separate pieces, preferably with small gaps. Etc. Just my two cents. There's nothing stopping you from trying though! Pep is a difficult thing to do properly! I admire that you've even got this far with it!
  11. Very cool. Is this just a project for fun, or do you plan on making it a display piece?
  12. Loving the trooper life!

  13. Polishing is totally personal preference. A lot of people frown upon it because you will look "too new", whereas in the films the suits were quite beat up. But it's your choice. Honestly, I haven't polished my AP kit and it still looks pretty darn shiny but if it's protection you seek then a coat of it certainly can't hurt. I can't speak for which polish to use, although most swear by "Troop Goop". If you plan to make sure you research the type of polish that won't harm the ABS. All polishes "scratch" the armour, it's like wet sanding (sort of).
  14. Easiest way to fix this is to order a new button plate. There should be a border around the plate. You can try glueing the plate to another piece of ABS to "emulate" the border but it may not turn out great. The reason they're two pieces is because Sand Troopers don't have it on, to give the option to go Sand or regular TK.
  15. I've been waiting for this photoshoot! Looks amazing Dan!! Congrats on the build and approval!
  16. Also, take your time and do your research. You won't get a straight up "quote". But with time and some digging you will compile your list of parts and that will be your rough estimate. Good luck with the build!
  17. Something doesn't look right with the chest plate. It looks too large? Also, your butt plate is overlapping your thighs at the sides; it shouldn't do that might need some trimming. Also, I'd spend some TLC on the tops of those thighs. They're pretty flat on the top and should be more round. Other than that it looks great! Weathering is very well done!
  18. I'd honestly rather have no burst than to try and emulate it with my voice lol.
  19. Check the quality and style of your microphone as well. You'll likely want to use an omnidirectional mic or a throat mic instead. A lot of microphones will just pick up anything in earshot and, of course, give your feedback.
  20. Even during mild days you may find your lenses fogging up. The fans purpose isn't only for keeping your head cool, but keeping your lenses cleared up. Trust me, I live on the East Coast of Canada and anywehere inside, with my bucket on, I need fans to see.
  21. Fantastic guys! I would LOVE to take part in something like this. Bravo to all involved!
  22. The official "TK Chatter" is only for approved 501st members. Although you probably could find some loops somewhere.
  23. Did you order the amp with the iComm or just the iComm system? If it comes with one great! My issue with voice activation is one that was brought to my attention by a fellow trooper, and also something I've thought about myself. I don't want EVERYTHING I say broadcasted over my amp if that makes sense? Of course I can and will deal with it if need be I just wouldn't want to get caught by bystanders talking about my strap that just came loose and needs to be fixed. Lol. Nothing will take away from character more than that haha. I've also heard that the voice activation can be quite sensitive too and random static clicks/bursts will play from accidental activation. How do you find it? It's probably not a big deal anyways, maybe I'm just overreacting lol. I do only have one troop in since my approval last weekend.
  24. Hey guys! I just ordered my iComm and an Amp. Looks like my amp is coming with a headset mic, that I already have, although I'm going to try and rewire my throat mic to exclude the earpiece. (The throat mic doesn't work in a mic only port with the headset part; Long story.) However, I want to look at PTT button options and can't seem to find any good ones. I like the finger button idea but it's almost impossible to find a good source for those. Does anyone know of a good button and where to get it? I'm in Canada and want to stay away from US sources as much as possible, unless the price is right. Thanks! -Justin
