  1. It appears that under the chest armor is a vest made of ribbed black rubber that attaches to the neck guard. Under that is a ribbed black fabric shirt.
  2. Interesting thought. However, Isn't spec ops more of the non-canon variants of troopers (magma, shadow, etc) that never officially appeared in the movies? Curious to see where these guys land.
  3. So I'll start by apologizing for sticking this in the ANH forum, but since we don't have a Rogue One thread yet, figured this was the best place. Please feel free to move it to a more appropriate forum. With the release of all the great photos from SWCE and the Rogue One panel showing the Death Troopers escorting Director Krennic in, I'm more committed than ever to make this my next build thread. My goal will be to have something in time for the premiere. That will obviously depend on the availability of resources. So this thread will be part research documentation and part build thread. I'm calling on the amazing talents and knowledge within this detachment to assist in identifying the various parts. Here's my initial parts list with potential resources. Helmet: Phoenix Props Armor: 850 Armor Works Gaskets: Going to hand make Picked up some Yaya Han 4-way Pleather and plan to grab some headliner to see my own gaskets Boots: Doc Martens Jered Boots https://www.amazon.com/Dr-Martens-Mens-Jered-Boot/dp/B00C2QU640 These appear to be discontinued but there are other Dr. martens that look like they should work; Dr. Marten Talib - are readily available (I own a pair now), but may require the addition of a leather strip down the back to mimic the Jered Gloves: Endor Findors (alternatively White Eagle Work Gloves dyed black OR Imperial Boots FOTK dyed black) No question that the DT gloves are black version of the FOTK glove Belt: TBD Anyone have any insight? It is ribbed like the FOTK, but much wider Belt Buckle: 3D Print Belt Pouches:TBD Perhaps the FOTK pouches offered by TK-4510 would work for these. There appear to be 3 of the long rectangular pouches with hard covers on this kit. Blaster Pistol (SE-14R Light): SM picked up a scope off ebay Blaster Rifle (modified E-11):3D printing Lot of details similar to an E-11/F-11 (Huengstler counter, rear scope feature, etc) Specialist Variant Pauldron: Veeds Pauldrens Looks like a black sandy pauldron MP40 Shoulder Pouches: Epic Militaria Had to color the stitching and remove a tab, but I'm pleased with how it turned out. Hand Grenades (qty 3): KB Props Ammo Vest: Condor Barrage Chest Rig Vest consists of 6 pouches 4 with hard plastic covers and 2 are fabric. the pouches for the grenades attach to the center two fabric ammo pouches. Specialist Rifle: DLT-19 Anything I've missed? Hopefully this will come together smoothly!
  4. Why should that bother people? Here's my view! TKs are Vader's troopers. They are the foot soldiers for the empire. We now know that Death Troopers are Director Krennics heavy troopers. We know from ANH Vader isn't impressed by the Death Star (compared to the power of the force), so I'm assuming Krennic and Vader represent different factions within the empire and aren't best of buds. So, their troops would have different appearances! By the time of the First Order, perhaps the factions are more aligned and thus the TKs have merged with the DTs and therefore FNs share features of both! Besides, remember my other argument, If we all hate everything that's different from the classic TK, we wouldn't have Biker Scouts, SnowTroopers, Clones, etc.
  5. Is that an FOTK thermal detonator on the back of the death trooper?
  6. I would love to know if anyone will have Death Trooper armor out in time to support the Rogue One premiere! If so, I want in!
  7. Rubber over a canvas belt. I did not include the middle foam layer. Is that the problem?
  8. So after several troops in my FN, I'm looking to make some mods to my belt boxes. The two hard boxes on my right hip are very stiff based on how they're attached. As a result they tend to rub and bind on my thigh. While watching TFA, I noticed the FN's boxes were more flexible. When they run, the boxes flop around quite a bit. So I'm trying to figure out how best to accomplish this. Currently, I use Chicago screws through the belt material into the box son they are basically hard mounted to the belt. Definitely curious to hear some ideas from this incredibly talented group!
  9. Captain Phasma just notified me that I have been promoted! I am now Officer FN-33724!
  10. Armor Sourced Pieces http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/index.php?/topic/31927-Armor-Sourced-Pieces
  11. Mine are in the back and like Wyatt said, my gaskets "lock" the armor pieces together. I literally slide my legs and arms on like a pair of pants and a jacket. I can get dressed in half the time of most of my TK brethren (getting out is a little slower).
  12. Super excited that it will be in my backyard next year! Look forward to meeting many of you face-to-face finally!
  13. Wow! Thanks for the compliment! Definitely was a labor of love!
  14. No, the only split in my mold is along the back. I've had no issues with the undercut on the chin.
  15. Very minimal! I'm very pleased with how it came out. Biggest improvement is no more divets on the back of the helmet.
  16. It was a cavity mold. I drilled small holes in the fiberglass at various places to allow the air to escape and then would plug them with a screw as I poured! It worked well! As far as it being quicker, not sure I think is was quicker, but it did ensure a constant thickness of material, producing a better cast.i had a major issue with my first attempt at this cavity mold! I failed to properly secure my master so when I poured the silicone, it floated! Nothing quite as frustrating as throwing out $200 worth of silicone!
  17. Success! My new matrix mold worked out really well. Minor blemishes and flashing that are easily resolved with a little glazing putty! First pull came out good. It always has some "junk" left from the master in the mold and I apparently had a little bubble near the kill stripe, but I can fix that! Now time to get crackin'!
  18. Had an issue with my first attempt, so I will be re-pouring silicone tomorrow. Should have a sense of how it turned out this weekend! Fingers crossed!
  19. I don't have dimensions for my helmet. If you look at this pic of the FN from Celebration, Which I based my sculpt on, you can see that it shouldn't be a snug fit.
  20. Finished my painting (still have some clean-up to do).
  21. Sorry. Didn't mean to spook ya, just pointing out something to the broader community. You're good! And yes, I'm a little uptight! Thanks Wyatt! [emoji6]
  22. This looks an aweful lot like JimmyC's design which was made available to the community, at no cost, with the following caveat! "The only thing I ask... Please do not sell them! As long as no one is printing these for profit." Am I missing something here?
  23. I hate fiberglassing!!! [emoji21] I did switch from mat to cloth when I went from the front to the back. I thought the cloth was much easier to work with!
  24. More enhancements in the works. I made a minor tweak to the beak to pull it in just under the visor. It's very subtle, but feel it's more screen accurate. I also am trying a different mold approach as I've struggled with getting good beaks. I have also spent some time fine sanding the visor buck. Trying to get a smoother surface to improve visibility yet retain the bubble visor look. Looking forward to getting new parts out of these molds and see how they turn out!
