E6000 supply
themaninthesuitcase replied to themaninthesuitcase's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Other than cancer, what should I expect from a sniff test? Also is there a shelf life once opened? I can do a glue test if needed also. -
E6000 supply

Anyone? If it's no good I'd like to be able to get my money back. If it helps there was no card which was also a bit of a red flag. -

E6000 supply
themaninthesuitcase replied to themaninthesuitcase's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
The E6000 came today, does this look legit? Some of the printing isn't such great quality. This is as it came out of the envelope. ----------------- -
You can hurt someone quite badly with a blunt instrument, but a touch extreme to confiscate them. However, the gun thing I am 100% behind. I'm not going to tell the USA what to do, though you'll guess my stance I am sure, but the UK has strict gun control and even a toy gun can land you in serious trouble if it isn't obviously one. If you took a BB gun to a con here I'd not be overly polite about it, there's no need for it.

IMPERIAL BOOTS
themaninthesuitcase replied to TK bondservnt's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
I ordered on Oct 12th, thy shipped on Oct 20th and are currently showing as "Pre advised" on the tracking. Not sure what that means but I'd guess they are still on a boat from China to Europe. On arrival I will try to do a bit of a review. -
E6000 supply
themaninthesuitcase replied to themaninthesuitcase's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
I'm in the UK and everything is privately imported. I am sourcing from eBay and Amazon where most the 110ml (3.7oz?) is out of stock for some reason including the on I had planned on using. This seller says they are uk based and their shipping times tie up just their portfolio of items smells of China. Once I get it I'll test it. Is there a simple check I can do? I have some black ABS sheet I can use. -

perfect, 2 tubes is roughy what's needed isn't it? -
Okay, own up. Who's bought all the E6000? Must admit of all the things I figured would be hard to get the E6000 wasn't on the list. So for 0 for 6 on eBay listings for the 110ml size. Follow up edit: There's some that's clearly a china but locally based type operation, should I worry about "fake" or otherwise bad glues?

I'll give that a watch. I probably should mention I want "light" weathering. Don't think hard used battle worn ala Sand Troopers more death star freshly issued but with those inevitable nicks these things pick up and hint at what it's made of (or not made of in this case)

I've got my DD kit and assorted tart up kits on order and so have been thinking about the painting stage of the build. Would a product like rub and buff work for weathering vs the silver/black layers of paint and sandpaper approach. I feel this method would give better chance to fix any screw ups at the weathering stage. Though it make be a shade harder to weather the right parts. If so what colours would you go for a silver or more of a pewter which I think would be more in keeping.

Anovos TK armor preorder
themaninthesuitcase replied to bearings's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
The more I see the happier I am feeling. At the moment my biggest concerns are if the under garments will fit me at all! I have ordered based on their chart but my measurements were all over the place so had to make a bit of a guess. The neck seal is the biggest concern for me, I'm a 17" neck which really doesn't match the rest of me. These are obviously quite simple to fix though. As for the velcro, it looks to be okay and would probably be good enough for most purchasers (I am guessing more than 50% will not be going for 501st). As for me, I ordered at the $450 tier so will wait and see what the early recipients find once it's in peoples hands. I'm not adverse to velcro, snaps or even "authentic" fixings but if I can save my self an evening or two making snap plates then that works for me. -
IMPERIAL BOOTS

Just to add to what others have said. I emailed a while ago and got no response. I have now sent a message using the form on their new website and got a prompt response. I'll be ordering a pair of boots once orders reopen in October with out concern, well other than if my weird feet will fit the boots but that's my issue not theirs. -
Which grade of snaps
themaninthesuitcase replied to themaninthesuitcase's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
It's not a bad allergy. I can handle it just not wear a watch with a high nickel content for example. The over kill was more to do with the strength on the material and weather resistance. I doubt there's any difference in "grip" between those. -
I've been reading the supply list for my Anovos TK build and have a question regarding the Line 24 snaps. I've found a source for the line 24 snaps in the UK. The problems is they do them in 2 grades, a Nickel and a stainless steel grade which is heavier duty. My assumption is that the Nickel ones will be up to the job, and my mild allergy shouldn't be an issue as there will be a fabric barrier. I can get the stainless ones if that's what's needed but I feel they will be overkill.

Marhsall's Doopydoos E11 pipe build

The second link is what I meant! I'm planning on getting a drill press after a similar less than happy experience with a drill stand. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -

You can get tungsten carbide cutters for Dremels. I don't have any in that size but I do have full size die grinder carbide bits and they cut through steel like butter if you want them to. Your plasticard counter case looks awesome. I know how it's harder than it looks as I've now binned 2! Even a small screw up shows up in a big way. Also I really like the tube drilling rig you have, do you have a brand/model name? I'm soon going to be starting an aluminium build after a failed attempt using some PVC. I'm torn on the doopy pipe kit or the more expensive Phoenix kit atm. What's the quality of the moulding like? -
IMPERIAL BOOTS
themaninthesuitcase replied to TK bondservnt's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
I have wide feet so having an inch (or more) or spare toe room in a shoe is pretty normal for me. I'm thinking I'll be ordering a UK12 but if I can get away with an 11 then I'd rather that. I've also got nearly a week on my email so will probably chase over the weekend. -

I would rather order a full size up and add inner soles or thick socks than get some that are too small. Also those sorts of shoes can't have overly comfy inner soles by default can they? -

I'm in the same boat, I wear an 11UK but I know I have wide feet so waiting on email confirmation from IB before I order. I'd like to try beat the Anovos rush too if I can! -
